About This Tool

The Chinese literature in Malaysia originated from the May 4th new literature in China, inherited the realism tradition of the Chinese new literature. Malaysia’s own complex ethnic and cultural background, from the British colony to the establishment of an independent state, makes the Malaysian Chinese experience bumps, the dual flow of geography and language has given the characteristics of Malaysian Chinese literature discrete literature. The content of the past Malaysian Chinese literature reflects the development and changes of the Nanyang society in different periods and stages and has both the national characteristics of the Chinese nation and the local color of Nanyang. Until the 1990s, Chinese-Malaysian writers such as Huang Jinshu and Chen Dawei revolutionized the narrative of novels and poems and challenged the mainstream of realism in traditional Malaysian-Chinese Literature.
