About This Tool

Sweden has a coastline of 3,218 km, maritime transport has always played an important role in the national economy, especially the transport of goods related to foreign trade is more dependent on maritime transport, more than 80% of the freight is carried by sea. So while Sweden has pursued a neutral foreign policy since the 1814, its leaders have been trying to give Sweden a strong navy to defend its coast and territorial waters. Around the time of World War II, the country accelerated the construction of ships of various sizes and classes, recording information on a total of 522 ships in the random tool.

Record in the generator these vessels were built at different times and have different types of classification. They were built to the highest specifications of the Swedish Navy and named after senior officers who had died in the war. As defence spending was cut in the 1970s, Sweden gradually abandoned cruisers and destroyers in favour of a fleet of surface ships dominated by missile attack speedboats. This is the most economical way to take on the task of monitoring and blockading the archipelago and its waters around Sweden.
