About This Tool

Over the course of his long career, James Cook served on more than British ships. He is also known to the world as one of Britain’s most famous naval officers, navigators, explorers, and cartographers. Cook, who had served in the Merchant Navy as a young man, had fought in the Seven Years’War after joining 1755, and had been on numerous ships, of which only nine were selected for the introduction of this random tool.

Most of these ships appeared in the 18th century and were used as military and commercial vessels. During this period, he achieved the first European record of Australia, East Australia, Hawaii, and carried out the first voyage to New Zealand. Cook himself was killed in a fight with islanders on the island of Hawaii during his third exploration of the Pacific. The information collated by the generator about when the ship was built, its name, and its service date can only be used to commemorate the life and work of James Cook.
