About This Tool

Macedonia is situated on the north-eastern edge of Greece. It is bordered by Thessaly to the south, Mount Olympia to the West, Illyria to the West, and Thrace to the east. In terms of physical geography, Macedonia is clearly divided into two parts: Upper Macedonia, in the West, a vast territory with mountains and forests, suitable for animal husbandry and the basic habitat of Macedonians; and Lower Macedonia, a coastal plain bordering the Aegean Sea, suitable for agricultural development.
