About This Tool

In the late 1960s, the complicated domestic and international situation forced the UK to enact the Immigration Act of 1971, abandon the relatively loose immigration policy since the Second World War and began to restrict the naturalization of foreign immigrants. The Act provides in detail for the right of abode, administrative mechanism and expulsion of foreign immigrants, and initially establishes a contemporary immigration system in Britain, reflecting Britain’s determination to return to Europe. Although the act did not fully achieve its intended purpose, it was an important attempt to explore immigration policy in the UK.

In addition to the first immigration law, the random tool also recorded 31 other laws issued in the same year. These laws have radiated everything from immigration to legal aid, from police pensions to pedestrian crossing rules to better constrain people’s sense of behavior. You can also see the specific date, detailed number, and legal coverage of each law from the generator.

Click the "Display All Items" button and you will get a list of Statutory Instruments of the United Kingdom, 1971.
