About This Tool

After the war, the United States and Britain actively provided retired ships to the countries they supported in the framework of military assistance programs to enhance their military capabilities by various means, including sale, lease, and free transfer, to achieve various political and military objectives. In the history of ship decommissioning in 1946 alone, the random tool recorded 112 ships being decommissioned.

Most of these ships were resold, reworked, scrapped, and returned to the United States Navy for other purposes, while only a small proportion were converted to commercial vessels. The details stored in the generator, including the exact date of the ship’s retirement, the Operator, the name of the ship, the class and type of the ship, and the final treatment of the ship, are recorded in full, for those who are interested to take a closer look.

Click the "Display All Items" button and you will get a list of ship decommissionings in 1946.
