  • Chucky on Random Horror Villains You Could Totally Beat Up

    (#1) Chucky

    • Child's Play Franchise

Chucky, AKA Charles Lee Ray, is a spirit stuck in a doll - a common plot device in horror films. He’s a little freaky, he's overly libidinous, and he has a tendency to become obsessed with his owner. Although he’s got a lot of notches on his belt, he’s still just a doll, so you can throw him around pretty easily. And unlike some other possessed dolls, Chucky is still a human soul, and therefore lacks supernatural powers. Burn the doll, or throw it in a locked trashcan, and you’re all set. Unless someone resurrects him again.

Strength: Small and hard to hit

Weakness: Small and easy to pick up and throw

Biggest Defeat: Covered in molten plastic at the Play Pals toy factory

  • Minnie Castevet on Random Horror Villains You Could Totally Beat Up

    (#2) Minnie Castevet

    • Rosemary's Baby

Minnie Castevet from Roman Polanski’s Rosemary’s Baby is a devil-worshiping old woman who, with the help of all the tenants of the Bramford apartments and Rosemary’s husband, arrange for Rosemary to be supernaturally impregnated. In retrospect, if she weren't manipulated and drugged, Rosemary could have easily just knocked the frail Minnie down and run away.

Strength: Allied with the Prince of Darkness and appears to be above suspicion

Weakness: She is literally a little old lady

    Biggest Defeat: She is undefeated

  • Dr. Heiter on Random Horror Villains You Could Totally Beat Up

    (#3) Dr. Heiter

    • The Human Centipede (First Sequence), The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence)

Dr. Josef Heiter, a retired surgeon, was famous for separating conjoined twins, eventually leading to his obsession with reversing the process. Heiter’s intellect is formidable: He can actually carry out his plan and assemble his pet centipede from three human bodies. However, his ego leads him to make small mistakes. He fails to reckon with the fact that his human captives can't be domesticated like his other pets. In hand-to-hand combat, Dr. Heiter would be easy to beat as long as you stay out of his basement and don't drink his water.

Strength: Vast intellect and a seemingly endless supply of sedatives

    Weakness: Giant ego

Biggest Defeat: Failing to account for his captives' intelligence

  • Norman Bates on Random Horror Villains You Could Totally Beat Up

    (#4) Norman Bates

    • Bates Motel, Psycho, Psycho, Psycho IV: The Beginning, Psycho II, Psycho III

If someone stood you next to Norman Bates from the horror classic Psycho, you wouldn’t even notice you were standing next to a villain. Though he has a tendency to stare in a creepy way, he’s really just a lonely boy with mommy issues. When he snaps and his alter ego “mother” takes over, he finally has the urge to slay - but he’s still a skinny guy fighting with emotions rather than skill. The only edge he has is his willingness to sneak up behind unsuspecting people. Your best bet is to take him down easily: Don’t give “mother” a chance to come out, and maybe woo him over dinner.

    Strength: Surprise

Weakness: Weighs 98 pounds soaking wet

Biggest Defeat: Winding up in a psych ward

  • Jigsaw Killer on Random Horror Villains You Could Totally Beat Up

    (#5) Jigsaw Killer

    • Saw, Saw VII, Saw II, Saw III, Saw V, Saw VI, Saw IV, Saw

The Jigsaw franchise revolves around John Kramer, who, rather than slaying his targets directly, places them in traps where they must successfully win a game or pass a test to survive. Kramer's villainous activities are characterized by his abiding calm and his seemingly genuine desire to rehabilitate “bad” people by making them see the value in life. If you allow yourself to be drawn into his web of traps, you may be in trouble. But if you bump into Kramer at the supermarket checkout counter, you could take him easily.

Strength: A devious mind and an ability to remain calm

    Weakness: Is already terminally ill

Biggest Defeat: Is taken out with - you guessed it - a saw

  • Ghostface on Random Horror Villains You Could Totally Beat Up

    (#6) Ghostface

    • Scream 3, Scream 4, Scream, Scream 2, Boogeymen: The Killer Compilation

Ghostface, the iconic masked stalker from the Scream franchise, is all presentation with little follow-through. In a face-to-face battle, anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of martial arts could hold their own - it's a regular human behind the mask, after all. Just avoid the blade.

    Strength: Spooky mask

Weakness: An obsession with Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell)

Biggest Defeat: Deciding to wear that ridiculous robe, which could get caught on anything

  • Annabelle  on Random Horror Villains You Could Totally Beat Up

    (#7) Annabelle

Annabelle is a doll possessed by a demon spirit that is unsure of its ultimate goal in life, except to wreak havoc on the world with sinister rituals. She exists within the same fictional universe as The Conjuring and The Nun, and seems to have a taste for female spirits. The demon might be infinitely powerful in the nether realms, but here on Earth, it's only as strong as the physical entity it possesses - which, in this case, is a doll. Why do evil demons insist on inhabiting bodies that are a foot and a half tall? They should try possessing a rhinoceros if they want to get things done. Lock Annabelle in a closet, preferably one wallpapered with Bible verses, and don’t let anyone sleep next door. Problem solved.

    Strength: Infinite malevolence

Weakness: It's a doll (see also: Chucky)

Biggest Defeat: Disappears when a guilt-ridden bookseller takes her own life

  • Annie Wilkes on Random Horror Villains You Could Totally Beat Up

    (#8) Annie Wilkes

    • Misery

One of the most affectionate Stephen King villains, Annie Wilkes is a nurse who loves to read romance novels and take care of sick people. Beneath the surface, she’s actually a serial slayer with mental issues and a fondness for tormenting her patients. Paul Sheldon provides a master class in taking her down with psychological warfare - just threaten to burn a few pages of an unpublished Misery Chastain novel. For most folks, it should be even easier, as most folks don't have two broken legs.

Strength: Lots of medical knowledge, and not squeamish

Weakness: Unquenchable desire to know every fictional plot twist in Misery Chastain's life

Biggest Defeat: Outwitted and overpowered by a hobbled novelist

  • The Entity From 'It Follows' on Random Horror Villains You Could Totally Beat Up

(#9) The Entity From 'It Follows'

The Entity from It Follows is a living curse with supernatural stamina and strength. It can only be seen by those who possess the curse, and it's relentless; it also seems unable to take lives because it’s ultimately a curse and not a physical being. But the entity is essentially just an STD, following targets who have intercourse with someone. One way to eliminate a curse is to pass it along to someone else. Alternately, since the entity can only walk at a slow pace, you could outrun it just by maintaining a brisk pace all day long.

Strength: No corporeal form that can be attacked

    Weakness: Moves really slowly

Biggest Defeat: Fired at in a swimming pool

  • Samara Morgan on Random Horror Villains You Could Totally Beat Up

    (#10) Samara Morgan

    • The Ring Franchise

Samara Morgan is a vengeful ghost who tracks down and terrorizes people who have watched her supernatural VHS recording. She climbs out of televisions and dispatches these hapless viewers within seven days. Her biggest strength is her persistence, regardless of where you are. She has no other tools, so in actual combat, you could easily take her down. To avoid falling under the spell of the curse, you just have to make a copy of her tape and get someone else to watch it. This means, with sufficient organization, she could be entirely neutralized just by having a new person watch the tape every few days. It could be enforced by a government lottery.

    Strength: Utterly relentless

    Weakness: Unarmed and skinny

Biggest Defeat: Getting trapped in a well in The Ring 2

  • The Invisible Man on Random Horror Villains You Could Totally Beat Up

    (#11) The Invisible Man

    • The United Monster Talent Agency

Dr. Jack Griffin, a chemist, discovers the secret to invisibility, and subsequently develops a taste for world domination. Given his eponymous invisibility, pinning him down can be hard once he gets his clothes off. On the other hand, his slowly deteriorating sanity means he doesn't always make the most rational decisions. The best way to take him in a fight would be to throw paint around, or watch for footsteps in the dust.

    Strength: He's, y'know, invisible

    Weakness: Gradually losing his mind

Biggest Defeat: Leaving footprints in the snow and allowing a detective to aim at him

  • Candyman on Random Horror Villains You Could Totally Beat Up

    (#12) Candyman

    • Candyman 3: Day of the Dead, Candyman

Candyman is the ghost of an artist who was the son of a slave, and was brutally killed in the late 19th century by the family of his lover, a white woman. He appears to his targets after they say “Candyman” five times in a mirror - which gives us a really good idea of how to avoid him altogether. But, assuming that ship has already sailed, what's the best way to fight him off? Set a honey trap for his bee-filled belly, or better off, just avoid mirrors.

Strength: Righteous anger and bees in his chest

    Weakness: People who avoid mirrors

Biggest Defeat: Destroyed by fire only to have his role taken over by a grad student

  • Pinhead on Random Horror Villains You Could Totally Beat Up

    (#13) Pinhead

    • Hellraiser Franchise

A creature from another dimension sent to explore pain and pleasure - yet no longer able to separate the two - Pinhead was once human. More intelligent and articulate than many horror villains, he can be bargained with. Given that he starts out trapped in a magnetic puzzle box (the Lament Configuration), the simplest way to deal with Pinhead is to just not solve the puzzle and leave him there.

Strength: Can cross dimensions and detect lies

    Weakness: Stuck in a box

Biggest Defeat: Banished when a foe "opens" the puzzle box backwards
