In a profile by the Sunday Times, Winona Ryder reflected on filming Bram Stoker's Dracula in 1992 with director Francis Ford Coppola, and co-stars Anthony Hopkins and Keanu Reeves. Apparently, Coppola urged the actors to be verbally harmful toward Ryder to elicit an emotional reaction. According to Ryder, however, Reeves and Hopkins refused.

Ryder recalled the scene in which she and Dracula (Gary Oldman) are lying on a bed together:

I'm supposed to be crying. Literally, Richard E. Grant, Anthony Hopkins, Keanu... Francis was trying to get all of them to yell things that would make me cry. But Keanu wouldn't, Anthony wouldn't... the more it happened, I was like... It just didn't work. I was, like, really? It kind of did the opposite.

Ryder prefaced that she and Coppola have mended their relationship, and she and Reeves have maintained a close friendship for many years.

One of the excited viewers shouts back, "You're breathtaking," to which the actor laughs nervously and stumbles before telling the fan, "You’re breathtaking. We’re all breathtaking."

(#3) He Was Misquoted As Calling Himself A 'Lonely Guy' - But Everyone Still Loves Him

While on the press tour for John Wick 3, Reeves sat down with The Jakarta Post and briefly touched on his dating life. Reeves described himself as "the lonely guy," but that doesn't mean he necessarily wants to be alone:

You know, I'm the lonely guy. I don't have anyone in my life. But if it does occur, I would respect and love the other person; hopefully it'll happen for me.

After this story gained traction in early June 2019, a rep of Reeves's reached out and claimed the "lonely guy" soundbite was "fabricated" and "pieced together from several interviews." The revelation didn't stop any of the love for the actor - or proposals made on Twitter.

  • (#4) He Gave A Profound Answer When Asked What Happens After We Die

While promoting John Wick: Chapter 3 on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Keanu Reeves appropriately answered the unanswerable question of what happens after we pass on. • He Feels Bad That His Band, Dogstar, Was Dubbed A 'Movie Star's Vanity Project' on Random Proof That Keanu Reeves Is Nicest Guy In Hollywood

(#5) He Feels Bad That His Band, Dogstar, Was Dubbed A 'Movie Star's Vanity Project'

In a 2019 GQ profile, Reeves opened up about his early '90s music career. He and Rob Mailhouse started an alt-rock band called Dogstar. Reeves and Mailhouse bonded over hockey at a local supermarket. The pair linked up and created Dogstar with Reeves on the bass and Mailhouse on the drums. Reeves told GQ that they once played at the Milwaukee Metal Fest alongside hardcore punks like Murphy’s Law. Dogstar played a Grateful Dead cover and Reeves recalls, "[The audience was] just like, F*ck you, you suck. I had the biggest grin on my face, man."

Reeves also explained that he feels bad for subjecting his band mates to the repercussions of his movie star status. Although he says the band may have had a better chance if they "were better," he also contributes part of their failure to the fact that people often looked as Dogstar as "a movie star's vanity project."

(#6) He Befriended Fellow Travelers When Their Plane Made An Emergency Landing

Keanu Reeves made the best of a bad situation when a United flight from San Francisco to Burbank, CA, had to make an emergency landing in Bakersfield. Reeves and his fellow passengers gathered in a van and drove the remaining two hours to Los Angeles. During the impromptu road trip, Reeves recited facts about the desolate farm town they landed in and played country music from the '50s that originated in Bakersfield purely for the sake of educational entertainment.

Reeves took charge and made the trip efficient and fun for everyone involved. He managed to turn what could have been a frightening flight and miserable drive into a night none of his fellow passengers are likely to forget.

  • He's Generous With His Money on Random Proof That Keanu Reeves Is Nicest Guy In Hollywood

(#7) He's Generous With His Money

It's not unusual for actors to buy gifts for crew members when a project wraps, but Keanu Reeves went way above and beyond that norm. While rumors that the actor personally gave around $80 million of his Matrix earnings to the trilogy's makeup and special effects crew are untrue, the deal he signed before the sequels relinquished his profit-sharing points to the special-effects and costume-design team, according to an ABC News report on a story from the Wall Street Journal.

"He felt that they were the ones who made the movie and that they should participate," a film executive said.

Reeves reportedly took a pay cut for the 1997 movie The Devil's Advocate in order to bring on Al Pacino. He did the same for the 2000 football movie The Replacements, to make way for Gene Hackman.

(#10) He Really Seems To Like Helping Others

A family friend builds movie sets, doesn't design, is one of the poor dudes that just builds. Anyways he worked on the set for the Matrix and Keanu heard about family trouble he was having and gave him a $20,000 Christmas bonus to help him out. He also was one of the only people on the set that genuinely wanted to know peoples names, would say hello and mean it, and would talk to people as they were his peers and not below him just because they were practically making nothing to build a set.

(#12) He Befriended Strangers At A Gas Station

In 2013, Keanu Reeves revealed that, soon after moving to Los Angeles, he met a few strangers at a gas station and joined their street hockey game. Over the next decade, Reeves would become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, but that didn't stop him from playing street hockey with those guys. He explained on Reddit:

For a long time in Los Angeles when I first moved there, when I was 20 years old, it was such a new world and so I saw some guys at a gas station once who had hockey equipment in their car, and I asked them what they were doing, and they said they were playing street hockey, so I asked them if I could play. So I became involved in a street hockey game that took place every weekend for over 10 years, every weekend, red versus black. We would take holidays off and sometimes summers, but the game was going on for over 10 years. That was cool to be a part of. It was a cool thing to have happen. Made some friends.

(#13) He Can Laugh At Himself

In 2010, someone took a photograph of Keanu Reeves while the actor sat alone on a park bench eating a sandwich, sparking the Sad Keanu meme. Photoshop aficionados posted versions of the meme all over Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit.

Reeves wasn't embarrassed by it, however. "My first experience with [becoming a meme] was Sad Keanu, and I thought it was funny!" he revealed on Reddit.

  • He Doesn't Throw His Name Around, Even When He Should on Random Proof That Keanu Reeves Is Nicest Guy In Hollywood

(#14) He Doesn't Throw His Name Around, Even When He Should

In December 2014, Keanu Reeves arrived at the wrap party of his movie Exposed (the film's original title was Daughter of God), but the bouncer did not recognize the star. Instead of making a scene, Reeves patiently got in line to wait in the rain outside the New York City club that hosted the party.

"Keanu was really patiently waiting," chauffeur Ronny Sunshine told Page Six. "I don’t think he said anything to the bouncer, like, ‘I’m Keanu.’ No one recognized him."

The chauffeur added: "Keanu looks very ordinary. It was raining, but he just waited for his two friends to come. He didn’t act like he had money. I just thought he was a rock ’n’ roller."

  • He Is The King Of Kind Gestures on Random Proof That Keanu Reeves Is Nicest Guy In Hollywood

(#15) He Is The King Of Kind Gestures

It seems everyone who interacts with Keanu Reeves knows the actor is just a cool guy who likes to do nice things for people. Redditor /u/bo2dd2 claimed to have experienced that firsthand:

Back in the late 90s and fresh out of college I got my first job as an assistant prop designer on the set of Chain Reaction (Keanu was a supporting actor with Morgan Freeman). EVERY DAY for the last few weeks of filming, Keanu treated the stage hands and "grunt workers" (including myself) by taking us out for free breakfast and lunch. He was genuinely a very nice guy to work with.

Since then, I've worked on about 30 different sets and have never met an actor as generous and friendly as him.

  • He Drove 50 Miles Out Of His Way To Take A Stranger Home on Random Proof That Keanu Reeves Is Nicest Guy In Hollywood

(#16) He Drove 50 Miles Out Of His Way To Take A Stranger Home

Not many movie stars would drive 50 miles out of their way to take a total stranger home. But, of course, Keanu Reeves did, according to Redditor /u/lovemyax:

A friend of mine told me that she was once stranded on the side of a highway outside LA when her jalopy broke down. She had no cell phone (that was before most people had cell phones) and no way to call for help. Then a nice black porsche pulls over and as you can guess, it was Keanu. He tried to help her jump start the car and when it didn't work, he called AAA for her. When they towed her car, he offered her to drive her home, which she accepted. He drove about 50 miles out of his destination just to drive her home. She told me she hoped he would hit on her but he didn't, he was just a gentleman, dropped her at her house, gave her his phone number and told her to call him if she needed further help.

  • He Bought Harley-Davidson Motorcycles For His Stuntmen on Random Proof That Keanu Reeves Is Nicest Guy In Hollywood

(#17) He Bought Harley-Davidson Motorcycles For His Stuntmen

Actors may get all the glory, but stuntmen take all the risks, and Keanu Reeves recognizes that. Reeves bought Harley-Davidson motorcycles for 12 stuntmen who filmed the defining fight scene of The Matrix Reloaded with him. He was impressed by the group's work ethic and wanted to show his appreciation.

"We were all in this thing, and we were training together beforehand," Reeves said. "I just wanted... to give a bigger thank-you to all these guys who helped me make this, I think, one of the great movie fights in the history of cinema."

  • (#18) He's Still Appreciative Of An Acting Gig That Paid About $127

When Keanu Reeves visited Jimmy Kimmel Live! in October 2014, audience members and the host all seemed to enjoy the Canadian actor's easy laughter and relatability. While some actors are incredibly stiff in person, Reeves worked the crowd. He interacted with some Toronto natives in the audience and wasn't afraid to make fun of himself. In fact, when Kimmel mentioned that Reeves's movies had raked in over $3 billion, the humble actor insisted his movies "entertain."

Reeves told Kimmel about his first paid acting gig. He guessed he'd made about $127. Still, he was grateful. The star of The Matrix said that money was "bank" for a 15-year-old.

    "That's like Valhalla," he added.

"I have a private foundation that’s been running for five or six years, and it helps aid a couple of children’s hospitals and cancer research," he told Ladies' Home Journal. "I don’t like to attach my name to it, I just let the foundation do what it does."
