  • Taserface on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#1) Taserface

Who He Is: Taserface was a member of the Ravagers who led a mutiny against Yondu for leadership of the faction. He's gruff and arrogant, but clearly not a smart person when it comes to properly leading his people.

Why Is He So Dumb? When he captured Yondu, he took out just about everyone who was still loyal to him, but left his former captain alive. He then decided to leave Groot alive, which was a serious error in judgment, given that he was a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

His Dumbest Moment: He knew how dangerous Yondu was with the Yaka Arrow, but he left the arrow alone and didn't snap it in half when he had the chance. He then left Yondu and Groot alive, which resulted in Yondu's escape, his acquisition of the fin and arrow, the demise of everyone loyal to Taserface, and the destruction of the ship. Also, he nicknamed himself Taserface thinking the name would inspire fear in his enemies, when all it did was make them laugh out loud in his face.

His Dumbest Line: "It's too adorable to kill!"

  • Trevor Slattery /

    (#2) Trevor Slattery / "Mandarin"

Who He Is: Trevor is an actor who was hired by A.I.M. to play the part of "The Mandarin," a villainous revolutionary leader who struck fear in the hearts of Americans. He became a direct challenger to Tony Stark, and when it turned out he wasn't actually a leader, and merely the "face" of the group, he was revealed to be a bumbling moron.

Why Is He So Dumb? He took a job that made him into a villain, he was responsible for numerous attacks even if he didn't carry them out, and he showed a great deal of poor judgment and impulse control problems.

His Dumbest Moment: Once his true nature was revealed, everything he said and did showed how stupid the guy really is. His dumbest moment was taking the job of the Mandarin in the first place, but his dialogue with Stark didn't help improve anyone's opinion of his intellect.

His Dumbest Line: "If you want something, take it, although the guns are all fake because those wankers wouldn't trust me with the real ones."

  • Roger Harrington on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#3) Roger Harrington

Who He Is: Mr. Harrington is a science teacher at Midtown School of Science and Technology. He is responsible for overseeing his school's academic decathlon team and is one of Peter Parker's teachers.

Why Is He So Dumb? Though he's clearly intelligent, having earned his degree from Culver University, he's completely oblivious to everything that's going on around him. This makes him a poor choice when it comes to being responsible for a bunch of children in Washington, DC, and Europe.

His Dumbest Moment: Chaperoning the trip to Europe revealed what a bumbling fool Mr. Harrington could be. He dropped his camera in a Venetian canal, didn't research any aspect of the trip in advance, took his kids to a museum that was shut down, and accepted all of the surprising upgrades without question, even though it was clearly unusual and potentially a trap.

His Dumbest Line: "As you know, we made it out alive. And that's the important thing. I couldn't bear to lose a student on a school trip. Not again."

  • Topaz on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#4) Topaz

    • Marvel Universe

Who She Is: Topaz was the bodyguard and right-hand woman to the Grandmaster. She delighted in hurting people and enjoyed barking at anyone she didn't like - which was pretty much everyone she came in contact with. Regardless, she was sophisticated and otherwise polite to her boss, to whom she was completely loyal.

Why Is She So Dumb? Her confidence borders on arrogance, and that made her vulnerable to making poor decisions in the heat of the moment.

Her Dumbest Moment: While chasing Bruce Banner, Thor, and Valkyrie, she became distracted by fireworks and crashed her ship. This was mainly due to her complete and total arrogance in believing she could take out their ship and end the revolution.

Her Dumbest Line: "Sorry, the 'prisoners with jobs' have armed themselves."

  • Drax the Destroyer on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#5) Drax the Destroyer

    • Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel Universe

Who He Is: Drax the Destroyer was incarcerated alongside the other future members of the Guardians of the Galaxy for an unspecified deed. He swore vengeance against Ronan the Accuser for wiping out his family. He's incredibly strong and brazen as can be, which usually means he will do something completely reckless, only to prove useful in the end.

Why Is He So Dumb? He seems unintelligent simply because his species doesn't understand the nuances of the English language, such as metaphors and sarcasm. That's more of a comical moment than stupidity. His real lack of intelligence is shown in just about every scenario he winds up in. He doesn't think about his actions and rushes in to do what he does best: hack, slash, and slug.

His Dumbest Moment: Calling Ronan to come to Knowhere when nobody was prepared for his arrival. This left Drax holding on to his life by a thread, and almost ended Gamora, who was then captured along with Quill by the Ravagers.

His Dumbest Line: "The beast's hide is too thick to be pierced from the outside. I must cut through it from the inside."

  • Jimmy Woo on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#6) Jimmy Woo

    • Marvel Universe

Who He Is: Jimmy Woo is an FBI agent and former Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who was responsible for overseeing the home detention of Scott Lang, aka, Ant-Man. He's generally a friendly and amiable man, but is fooled relatively easily, and he often lets his good nature get in the way of doing his job.

Why Is He So Dumb? For one thing, he thought he could outsmart Scott Lang, Hope van Dyne, and Hank Pym - three of the smartest people in the MCU. He's also not great at communicating with children. When he explained why Lang was on house arrest to Lang's daughter, Cassie, he failed completely to get his point across.

His Dumbest Moment: He utterly failed to do his job because he was tricked by Lang and everyone else. While this worked out for the greater good, it couldn't have reflected well on his annual performance review.

His Dumbest Line: "Seriously? Yes! Oh. Sorry, Scott. They were your friends. That's insensitive. I just really needed a win, you know? Anyway, I'll be back later for the official end of your sentence. Sorry for misjudging you, pal. You should feel great about yourself."

  • The Other on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#7) The Other

    • The Avengers

Who He Is: The Other was the vocal proxy and second-in-command to Thanos. He represented the Mad Titan in most of his dealings with his underlings and served as his personal servant. He gave Loki the Chitauri Army so that he could conquer Earth, and gave him the scepter, which contained the Mind Stone.

Why Is He So Dumb? He assumed that he was as powerful as his master when he spoke on his behalf, which proved to be his undoing.

His Dumbest Moment: While addressing Ronan the Accuser, he spoke down to him and treated him as if he were nothing. Ronan was not the kind of guy you could get away with disrespecting. As he raised his voice to the Kree zealot, Ronan swiftly, and without a second thought, snapped his neck with his Cosmi-Rod.

His Dumbest Line: "Lower your tone! I may be your..."

  • Skurge on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#8) Skurge

Who He Is: Skurge the Executioner was put in charge of the Bifrost Bridge when Loki assumed control of Asgard under the guise of Odin. While he worked there, he enriched himself by taking various riches from the various realms. He then used that position to try and impress women, but it didn't work out for him. When Hela, the Goddess of Death, showed up, he abandoned his principles to join her and become her executioner. Eventually, he turned against her and even sacrificed himself to save the remaining Asgardians.

Why Is He So Dumb? He's more of a warrior or mercenary than a thinker. Skurge puts as much emphasis in looking and acting tough as any Asgardian warrior, but he doesn't seem to have a lot of brains to back up his brawn.

His Dumbest Moment: He was fooled like the rest of Asgard into believing Odin, but to be fair, he wasn't the only one who was tricked by Loki. Despite believing Odin to be... well, Odin, he wasn't shaken up when he found him to actually be Loki. Later, when he joined Hela, he did so simply to save his own life, which may have been smart at the time, but it burdened him with an incredible amount of guilt.

His Dumbest Line: "Well, well. Look who decided to pop in. Thanks for scaring away my company and drenching my workplace in brains."

  • Luis, Dave, & Kurt on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#9) Luis, Dave, & Kurt

Who They Are: Luis, Dave, and Kurt are reformed criminals who still get into some dirty work every now again when they help their buddy, Scott Lang. They clearly don't have the highest intellects in the Marvel Universe, but they mean well, and when push comes to shove, they do the right thing, which makes them a part of the good guys.

Why Are They So Dumb? They are more interested in the end results without spending much time properly preparing for anything. This has them going in blindly a lot of the time, and even when they do fall into line with a plan, they tend to screw things up. This causes problems for everyone else involved, but they seem to get themselves out of trouble almost as easily as they find themselves in it.

Their Dumbest Moment: Their collective dumbest moment was also one of the most important for the MCU. They hatched a plan to take... something, which turned out to be Hank Pym's Ant-Man suit. While it worked out well for Scott, and they eventually reformed to become security experts with their own company, it was a pretty stupid plan from start to finish - and they couldn't have even done it were it not for Lang's inclusion.

Luis' Dumbest Line: "Yeah, my mom died, too. And my dad got deported. But I got the van!"

Dave's Dumbest Line: "We broke into this spooky ass house, didn't we?"

Kurt's Dumbest Line: "Old man have safe."

  • Star-Lord on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#10) Star-Lord

    • Guardians of the Galaxy

Who He Is: Peter Quill was abducted from Earth when he was 8 years old. The incident came just after his mother's passing, and the Ravagers who took him made him one of their own. He's a superhero, but he's also an outlaw and the de facto leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Why Is He So Dumb? Peter is a sensitive and caring man, but he's not the brightest bulb in the bunch. Through no fault of his own, he was only educated through the third grade. Despite this, he has managed to grow into a fully capable adult, even if he does let his emotions get in the way of making smart decisions.

His Dumbest Moment: He found the Power Stone, and without knowing what it was or how important it was, he flaunted it to everyone he met until finally getting himself detained. The series of events that followed gave birth to the Guardians of the Galaxy, which worked out in the end, but he could have put some forethought into what he was doing instead of simply running headfirst into everything he does. That being said, his dumbest moment came in Avengers: Infinity War when he compromised the plan to remove the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos's hand. The gambit nearly worked, but Quill became so distraught over what happened to Gamora that he blew the whole thing.

His Dumbest Line: "I don't learn. It's one of my issues."

  • Mantis on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#11) Mantis

    • Marvel Universe

Who She Is: Mantis is an empathic alien who was raised by Ego. When she first met the Guardians of the Galaxy, she was incredibly ignorant about other people, customs, and behaviors. She didn't exactly fit in, but her bond with Drax helped her to decide to warn the Guardians and defy her master. Later, she joined up as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and fought against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

Why Is She So Dumb? Her stupidity is mostly borne of her ignorance of the universe and the other people in it. This causes her to say and do things that appear unintelligent. For the most part, she's an innocent who is only now coming to terms with the nature of the universe.

Her Dumbest Moment: Her dumbest moment came in Avengers: Infinity War when she attempted to subdue Thanos. While she was doing it, she mentioned that he felt a great deal of sadness. That revelation went a bit further to explain that he was grieving over Gamora. Mantis couldn't have known, but had she kept her mouth shut about Thanos's emotional state, the team would have gotten the Infinity Gauntlet off his hand, and they would have been able to prevent the Snap/Blip.

Her Dumbest Line: "Listen! Ego's gotten exactly what he wanted. I should have told you earlier. I'm stupid. You are in danger."

  • Darcy Lewis on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#12) Darcy Lewis

    • Thor: The Dark World, Thor

Who She Is: Darcy Lewis was a political science student at Culver University. Through that program, she became Erik Selvig and Jane Foster's assistant, but she had little to no understanding of anything they were doing. She was a terrible choice for a lab assistant, and shouldn't have been assigned to work with them, but that's how her education ended up playing out.

Why Is She So Dumb? She's mostly dumb when it comes to science, understanding science, quantum mechanics, or anything she is doing in the service of Selvig and Foster.

Her Dumbest Moment: Applying to work as a lab assistant while studying political science. It may have been worth six credit hours, but it didn't make sense at all.

Her Dumbest Line: "I am not dying for six college credits!"

  • Ronan the Accuser on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#13) Ronan the Accuser

    • Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel Universe

Who He Is: Ronan the Accuser is a Kree renegade who rebelled against his government after they signed a peace treaty with the Nova Corps. In his act of rebellion, he teamed up with Thanos to help the Mad Titan find the Power Stone. Ronan commands a large force from his near-invincible ship.

Why Is He So Dumb?: He is powerful, but he's not more powerful than Thanos and others like him. This doesn't mean he's dumb, but he made an incredibly idiotic decision to go up against the Mad Titan, the full might of Xandar, the Ravagers, and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

His Dumbest Moment: He opposed Thanos, and while he did have the Power Stone in his possession at the time, that was a reckless move, to say the least. Even so, his dumbest moment came when he stopped himself from destroying Xandar after being distracted by Star-Lord's dance-off. He was seconds away from ending him and everyone else on the planet, but he came to a stop to ask him what he was doing, and that proved to be his undoing.

His Dumbest Line: "YOU CALL ME 'BOY?!' I will unfurl one thousand years of Kree justice on Xandar AND BURN IT TO ITS CORE!! Then, Thanos, I'm coming for you!"

  • Korg on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#14) Korg

    • Planet Hulk

Who He Is: On the surface, he's a giant rock monster from outer space, but underneath that, he's got a heart of gold. He joined forces with the Hulk and Thor in Thor: Ragnarok, and remained by Thor's side through the Blip.

Why Is He So Dumb? He's a freedom fighter, but he's terrible at organizing, and clearly relies on his strength and durability to win a fight. While he has good intentions and is friendly, he clearly isn't the smartest character in the MCU.

His Dumbest Moment: Though it happened off-screen, Korg explained that he tried to organize a revolution, but didn't print enough pamphlets. This led to his capture, and he was then thrown into the Contest of Champions to compete as a gladiator. Many have pointed out online that this was a hilarious example of "paper beating rock."

His Dumbest Line: "I tried to start a revolution but didn't print enough pamphlets so hardly anyone turned up. Except for my mum and her boyfriend, who I hate. As punishment, I was forced to be in here and become a gladiator."

  • Groot on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#15) Groot

    • Guardians of the Galaxy

Who He Is: Baby Groot is the version of Groot who showed up at the end of the first Guardians of the Galaxy film as a sapling. He's the same species, but a younger version. Despite this, he remains a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and has proven he is just as lethal as his former self.

Why Is He So Dumb? It has been revealed that Baby Groot wasn't the same Groot from the first film; rather, he's more like his offspring. He's not incredibly smart when compared to his adult forebear because he's still very young and ignorant of the ways of the world.

His Dumbest Moment: Baby Groot had a couple of stupid moments in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and while they were both incredibly adorable and funny, they showed just how little he understood about the world. The first came when he failed to bring Yondu the fin after being told exactly what to look for. He brought a desk, a toe, and just about everything else, but not the fin. Later, he was told not to push a specific button on a bomb by Rocket, but he repeatedly misunderstood the explicit instructions and ran off with the bomb.

His Dumbest Line: "I am Groot?"

  • Thor on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#16) Thor

    • Thor: The Dark World, The Incredible Hulk Returns, Thor, Hulk Vs, Thor: Tales of Asgard, Ultimate Avengers 2, The Avengers, Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow, Marvel Universe

Who He Is: Thor Odinson is the Asgardian God of Thunder, adoptive brother to Loki, and the son of Odin. He was originally meant to take over as king when his father stepped down, but his arrogance and refusal to follow Odin's directives proved he was unworthy of the advancement. He was stripped of his hammer and his powers and banished to Midgard. Later, he joined forces with the Avengers, hunted for Infinity Stones, decapitated Thanos, and got the mother of all "dad bods."

Why Is He So Dumb? To be clear, Thor isn't unintelligent, but he has made some incredibly stupid decisions. For a man who is more than 1,500 years old, he doesn't learn his lessons easily, and it takes quite a lot of failure before he finally reflects on his life and the choices he's made.

His Dumbest Moment: He defied Odin and attacked the Frost Giants on their homeworld. This earned the ire of their king, unraveled the truth about Loki's origins, led to his banishment, and left him unworthy to wield Mjolnir and his powers.

His Dumbest Line: "He's a friend from work!"

  • Thanos on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#17) Thanos

    • Marvel Universe

Who He Is: Thanos, the Mad Titan, is a man who believes the only way to save life in the universe is to snuff out half of it. To achieve this end, he hunts down and retrieves all of the Infinity Stones so that when he snaps his fingers while wearing the Infinity Gauntlet, his dream can become a reality.

Why Is He So Dumb? To put it plainly, Thanos isn't unintelligent, dumb, or stupid. In fact, he's probably the smartest character in the MCU, but that doesn't mean he hasn't made some incredibly stupid decisions.

His Dumbest Moment: Thanos's rationalization that the best way to achieve safety and security throughout the universe is to end half of all life wasn't thought through very well. Not only would wiping out half of the universe's plants, animals, and people result in chaos, more lost lives, and completely disrupted governments, it would also eliminate food chain supplies and leave most people starving. Accomplishing his goal had the opposite effect. He also consistently underestimated his enemies, and that was especially true at the end of Avengers: Endgame when he brazenly went up against the combined might of the MCU. Underestimating Tony Stark proved to be his dumbest move, as it resulted in the complete elimination of Thanos and every one of his people.

His Dumbest Line: "You should have gone for the head."

  • Captain America on Random Dumbest Characters In Marvel Cinematic Univers

    (#18) Captain America

    • The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Ultimate Avengers, Captain America, Ultimate Avengers 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Captain America II: Death Too Soon, Captain America, 3 Dev Adam, Marvel Universe

Who He Is: Steve Rogers was a weak man before partaking in the experiment that used a specially formulated Super Soldier Serum to transform him into Captain America. He fought against HYDRA and the Germans during WWII, but was frozen in the ice for seven decades before waking up in the present. He then went on to lead the Avengers against numerous threats and proved he was a capable tactician in any situation.

Why Is He So Dumb? Cap isn't dumb, per se, but he doesn't always use his intelligence to make wise decisions. When he relies on his emotions to do what he perceives as the right thing to do, he often walks a hard road, and this has made his time in the present incredibly difficult.

His Dumbest Moment: Cap has always had a soft place in his heart for Bucky, but when he returned as the Winter Soldier, Cap sacrificed himself to save his friend. While this was noble, it wasn't necessarily a smart move, and he ultimately chose Bucky over Tony and even his country when the Sokovia Accords divided the team in Captain America: Civil War. He even fought against Tony with Bucky, which resulted in the destruction of the Avengers. Had he been thinking straight, he would have worked with his friend instead of fighting against him.

    His Dumbest Line: "Language!"
