(#1) Logan Roy
- Succession
Despite his flagging health, Logan Roy shows no signs of voluntarily loosening the iron hold he has on Waystar Royco. He's crushed multiple coups staged by his children and competitors. The man even came back from a coma to destroy a no-confidence vote organized against him. Logan Roy's not going anywhere.
(#2) Marcia Roy
- Succession
At the start of Season 2, Marcia remains a steely mystery. She's fiercely protective of Logan, and it's clear she has his confidence - as well as knowledge of operations related to Waystar Royco that remain hidden from view. Given her close relationship with Logan and her proximity to business secrets, Marcia makes sense as the official successor.
(#3) Sibhan Roy
- Succession
In the Season 2 premiere, Logan tells Shiv she will be his successor, but the assurance takes place behind closed doors. Shiv, the only Roy daughter, remained largely out of the race for Waystar control in the first season, but that isn't to say she isn't the woman for the job. Shiv's competent and cutthroat in her work as a political advisor. She'd make an intelligent, agile heir for Logan Roy.
(#4) Kendall Roy
- Succession
Despite his bald attempts to oust his father, Kendall remains the heir apparent to his father at the start of Season 2. He went to business school, worked through Waystar ranks, and in his best moments seems to sincerely want what's best for the company. Given Kendall's standing among certain members of the Waystar board - and Waystar competitors - he retains a strong chance of taking over.
(#5) Gerri Killman
- Succession
Granted, Gerri's beat is as legal counsel to Waystar's top brass. But Gerri also knows how the Waystar sausage gets made, and she was more than willing to participate in the clandestine conversations that led to the no-confidence vote against Logan. While she's an outside chance, Gerri certainly has the industry know-how - and the dirt on the Roys - to take over the company.
(#6) Roman Roy
- Succession
Obviously, Roman Roy's made some mistakes with the power he's been given. But, at the same time, Roman's hungry for more responsibility at the company, and he eagerly accepts the projects and positions thrown his way. That, and he never votes against his father, illustrated perhaps most crucially when he's a "no" in the no-confidence vote against Logan orchestrated by Kendall. Roman's loyalty to his father and the company make him a strong, albeit unintuitive, heir.
(#7) Greg Hirsch
- Succession
Cousin Greg knows things, and he's willing to implicate himself in pursuit of safeguarding the company. He takes on the damning paper trail of sexual misconduct that could sink Waystar Royco. But Cousin Greg's also no dummy; after all, he saves some of the death pit documents for leverage, possibly the kind of leverage that could put a young man at the helm of a company.
(#8) Lawrence Yee
- Succession
Put mildly, Lawrence Yee has a contentious relationship with the Roy family, particularly Kendall. After having his own successful media company, Vaulter, acquired by Waystar, Lawrence becomes a member of the Waystar board. He's ruthless; he has it out for Kendall; he's an industry vet with a board vote: Lawrence could certainly take on the responsibilities of Waystar leadership.
(#10) Sandy Furness
Sandy Furness is Logan Roy's biggest corporate rival, and he was all too happy to participate in the plot to overthrow Logan when Kendall came calling. He's got the capital, the chops, and the desire to take Logan Roy down. Sandy Furness at the helm of Waystar would be a natural, and logical, fit.
(#11) Frank Vernon
- Succession
Frank's one of Waystar's longest-serving employees, and up until his participation in the failed coup, he was also one of Logan Roy's closest confidantes. Frank made an appearance at Shiv and Tom's wedding, and it's clear his still cares about the Roys and Waystar. It's not at all inconceivable that he could reappear at or near the top of the Waystar org chart.
(#12) Stewy Hosseni
- Succession
Stewy's a member of the Waystar board, and he's unapologetic about the fact that his allegiances lie wherever, and with whomever, the purse strings are held, whether that be a Roy or a competitor like Sandy Furness. In the event of a vote of no confidence or an external hostile takeover, it isn't hard to imagine Stewy emerging in full leadership of the company.
(#13) Connor Roy
- Succession
At the end of Season 1, Connor Roy announced his desire to run for president. It's clear he's ambitious, and it's clear he has some version of the family's best interests at heart after hosting them at his ranch, Austerlitz, for a healing session/PR event. Just how far Connor is willing to go in pursuit of his own nebulous goals remains unclear - but worthy of note.
