  • Roddy Piper on Random Wonderfully Wholesome Stories That Prove Horror Icons Are Nicest People In Biz

    (#16) Roddy Piper

    • Wrestler

    Posted by u/West-Sharp:

We met Rowdy Roddy Piper, who was one of the nicest people at the entire convention. His assistant kept telling him he needed to go so he could make his flight, but there were so many people lined up at his table that he refused to budge until he could meet (almost) everyone.

I told him that I loved all of his work, but that I would never forget his special appearance on the Super Mario Brothers Super Show VHS tape that I had when I was younger. He smiled from ear-to-ear and said, "Oh, man, no one ever remembers that!" Then he gave me a big bear hug and told me about how the guy that played Mario in that show legally changed his name to Mario (which he pronounced Mareio).

If you're wondering what he sounded like, he sounded exactly like his wrestler character The Maniac on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

  • Robert Englund on Random Wonderfully Wholesome Stories That Prove Horror Icons Are Nicest People In Biz

    (#3) Robert Englund

Nicest dude in the world. My friends and I stood in line for 3+ hours to meet him. We were wondering why it was taking so long and then we finally got inside and realize that he was taking time to speak to every single person who he greeted.

I had a good 5-minute conversation with him where we talked about my cousin (my cousin is Jack Sholder, the director of Nightmare On Elm Street 2) and how he introduced him to a bunch of great restaurants in NYC and California.

Robert has the most charisma I have ever seen. The man just captivates his audience and loves telling stories of his career and working with others. He is very friendly and is always happy to give hugs and spend time with fans.

One girl at a Q&A asked if he could say,"You are all my children." He got all psyched up and did it in his best Freddy voice. The audience went nuts and he shocked her by having her come up on stage for a hug. She was blown away!

  • Kane Hodder on Random Wonderfully Wholesome Stories That Prove Horror Icons Are Nicest People In Biz

    (#12) Kane Hodder

The fan involvement is a huge part of why he's still so popular. He's that guy that does every show. Seriously. He's on the road more than home for conventions most years, and almost always has a long line. I'm not the hugest Friday the 13th fan, but I love Kane. He's a great guy who goes out of his way for most of his fans.

  • Clive Barker on Random Wonderfully Wholesome Stories That Prove Horror Icons Are Nicest People In Biz

    (#10) Clive Barker

Clive Barker (my personal favorite). I mentioned to him that Thief of Always was my daughter's favorite book (she was 10 at the time). He seemed really touched and drew an original piece of art in the battered paperback I presented to him. I'll never forget that.

  • Lance Henriksen on Random Wonderfully Wholesome Stories That Prove Horror Icons Are Nicest People In Biz

    (#13) Lance Henriksen

Lance Henriksen bumped into me getting out of an elevator. I let slip a "Oh, sh*t" when I realized who it was. He was drunk as hell. He stopped and looked at me and my friend, gave us a thumbs up and said "Kick a**, boys."

  • Angus Scrimm on Random Wonderfully Wholesome Stories That Prove Horror Icons Are Nicest People In Biz

Angus Scrimm was the nicest [actor] I've met. He talked to my ex-wife and I for awhile and held her hand like he was her old grandpa.
