About This Tool

Sorbian is the language of the Sorbian people, a minority group in south-eastern Germany. Because of the relatively small number of people who use it, fewer than 100,000 people use it, it’s even harder to find a poet who writes exclusively in Sorbian. Fortunately, this random tool compiled a list of eight Sorbian poets from different eras, but who are prominent among the native German Sorbian minority.

Most of these poets are indigenous to the Sorbian people. Their love for the land of sobuya, for the development of local literature and culture, has been quietly contributing their own strength. With the generator, we can see the full name of each Sorbian poet, the date of birth and death, the major language categories used, and so on. Only a few of them have ever written anything, and most are poems passed from mouth to mouth.

Click the "Display All Items" button and you will get a list of Sorbian-language poets.
