The 2000 film Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas has jokes aplenty for both kids and adults, and Jim Carrey's take on the title character is delicious. Dr. Seuss's beloved story is all about the pear-shaped, stub-nosed, furry green creature whose bah-humbug-ness puts Ebenezer Scrooge to shame.

This one was originally made for the Hallmark Channel in 2011, which might tell you all you need to know. It's a well-trod storyline used in many a movie: a recently dumped woman hires a man to play her boyfriend for an upcoming visit with her family.
But what makes A Holiday Engagement so, well, engaging is the earnest performances of the two leads, Bonnie Somerville and Jordan Bridges; the supporting performances of two stars we don't see nearly enough, Shelley Long and Haylie Duff; and a couple of wonderful, truly surprising moments in the script.

The Princess Switch is a holiday-set, grown-up take on The Parent Trap. Vanessa Hudgens, in a dual role, plays both a Chicago pastry chef and a duchess (of Belgravia, a fictional country). When chance throws the two women together, they decide to swap lives, which results in plenty of witty chaos.
It's a highly watchable romantic comedy with a Christmas theme and includes both silliness and pathos. The 2018 film also blends two popular Christmas romance themes: a small-town romance and a royal romance.

Like Bad Santa, Uncle Nick is one to watch after the kids have gone to bed. Released in 2015, the hilarious and underrated Brian Posehn stars as the crude title character, who shows up to a family Christmas event that starts bad and goes downhill from there.
