About This Tool
At the beginning of the 21st century, groups of film culture enthusiasts came together to discuss how to change the backwardness of Portuguese cinema and how to revolutionize it. They were looking for a way out to produce a real national film. Most of these people who aspire to reform Portuguese film have studied or worked as film critics in France and Britain. They are familiar with the development trend of the world’s films and understand the crux of the backwardness of Portuguese films.
New Directors, heavily influenced by Italian neorealism films and French “new wave” films, are preparing to make a number of anti-Portuguese films in Portugal. This kind of reform Portuguese movie upsurge, is called by the Portuguese critical circle “the Portuguese new film”. In 2012, the generator tool randomly selected 10 great movies that document reality and movie change, and you can compare them back and forth to see if there’s a gap.
