  • (#1) They Started To Care More About Her Future Than Their Own

    From Redditor /u/Twin_Brother_Me:

When I realized that I cared more about her future and happiness than my own. We had been getting closer as friends for the past six months or so and had flirted a fair amount, so I assumed that she liked me but I wasn't at a place in my life where I was ready to date. Naturally I did the only reasonable thing in that scenario and asked her if she wanted to get married.

Oddly enough, I didn't actually tell her that I loved her for another month or two.

  • (#2) They Caught Themself Unintentionally Thinking About Them

    From Redditor /u/cats_and_naps:

When you catch yourself thinking about them unintentionally all the time - not intimacy stuff though - and just want to be around them for no reason at all.

  • (#3) They Gave Him The Last Slice Of Pizza

    From Redditor /u/xicanamarran:

When I gave him the last slice of pizza when I really wanted it.

  • (#4) Their Bad Day Got Better Just By Seeing Her

    From Redditor /u/Bobbytom:

When I had a really bad day and went to see her, I planned on [complaining] about it. Second I saw her, that bad day/feeling went away. I didn’t realize it until the next day that she didn’t even need to do anything to cheer me up, seeing her was enough.

  • (#5) They Just Knew

    From Redditor /u/xdrakennx:

It just was. It wasn’t after an act of physical pleasure, or after some significant event. We were hanging out thinking about grabbing a bite to eat and just talking. At some point it clicked that this was it. It wasn’t that I could live with her or deal with her, but rather I couldn’t see myself without her. Every girl before that was, "I could see this working out" or "Man it would be great if we lasted a while." This was the first time I couldn’t imagine it a different way.

I still see it that way, kids and years later.

  • (#6) They Knew After He Brought Them Stars

    From Redditor /u/mimikittyninja:

Before we started dating, he remembered a conversation we had months ago about how I never had glowing stars on my ceiling as a kid. We spent a day together at my place watching FFVII: Advent Children and playing Kirby on the Wii, then he said that he needed to go get something. A few minutes later he came back with a brand new bag of glowing stars. I was so happy that I knew he was the one for me. Six and a half years later, we still add to the ceiling.

  • (#7) They Smiled Just Getting A Text From Them

    From Redditor /u/SkollnHati:

Catching myself smiling like an idiot every time I get a text from them or seeing their photo come up on my screen (even though I know there’s a 90% chance it’s a butt dial). Constantly thinking about them or noticing how my heart races when we spend time together.

    Caught the feels hard.

  • (#8) He Worried Every Time She Got On A Plane

    From Redditor /u/transferStudent2018:

I got worried when she would fly on a plane. I’m a rational man, and I know that it’s super super super unlikely that her plane would have any issues at all. But for some reason, I worry when she gets on one.

I also cry like a little b*tch when she leaves.

  • (#9) They Valued His Happiness As Much As Their Own

    From Redditor /u/rach131012:

When I truly, genuinely realized that I valued his happiness as much as my own. He was telling me about his plans and ambitions, and I was excited for him, and absolutely thrilled when they progressed in any way. I love him so much, his happiness really means the world to me.

  • (#10) They Heard Her Singing To The Radio

    From Redditor /u/Lynch8411:

When I first heard her sing along to the radio, she's doing it now in the other room and I could listen to it forever.

  • (#11) He Held Their Hand

    From Redditor /u/elmoelmoelmoelmoelmo:

When he held my hand. It’s a pretty small thing but after getting to know each other we went on a date and while we were walking around he held my hand, weird to say but no man had ever done that in a tender, non-sexual way before (I'd only ever had girlfriends and one night stands with guys) and I normally HATE my personal space being encroached, but as soon as he held my hand I felt like never letting him go. Now three years in an amazing relationship and counting.

  • (#12) His First Time Talking With Her

    From Redditor /u/brad-corp:

The first time I spoke to her.

We were sent to the same training for work. I'd seen her the previous few days but hadn't spoken to her. A few of us went to the pub at the end of the day and she at was one of them. We started talking there. Eventually everyone else left and it was just us. We spoke for an hour or two. On the way home, I stopped at the bottle shop and bought some beer and went home. When I got home I gave my house mate a beer and said, "Here, have a beer, we're celebrating."

"Celebrating what?" he said. And I said, "I just met the girl I'm going to marry.

We got engaged three months later, married 18 months after that, and celebrated our seven year wedding anniversary last November.

  • (#13) They Realized All Their Future Thoughts Have Him In Them

    From Redditor /u/Saravaw:

When I realized that all my thoughts about the future have him in it.

  • (#14) She Watched A Movie She Hated With Him

    From Redditor /u/trustmeimahuman:

I realized I was in love with my [boyfriend] when we were laying on the couch watching Garden State. Though I use the term "watching" loosely. For months we were far too wrapped up in each other to pay attention to anything that we were supposed to be watching. Anyway, while we were cuddling on the couch, in the back of my mind I kept thinking about how crappy this movie was, but he likes it, so whatever. Then I thought that I really didn't care what I was watching or doing with this man, as long as he was with me. He ended up telling me he loved me that night.

  • (#15) He Drove Out Of His Way To Take Care Of Her When She Was Sick

    From Redditor /u/seannzzzie:

We were friends in high school, then a couple years later started hanging out again. Spent almost an entire summer just me and her, as friends. I knew she didn't like me that way, and I was fine with it. Come fall, she was sick and I texted her I was bored just getting off work. She asked if I'd be willing to bring her some ginger ale (she lived about 20 minutes from where I worked) without thinking I got in my car and drove her way. That's when I first really knew. It still took her another month or so of being pestered to finally go out with me. Now three and a half years later we have two dogs and life is pretty great.

  • (#16) They Was Comfortable Being Themself Around Him

    From Redditor /u/Delightfully_Odd:

My boyfriend is the only person I've gotten close to that hasn't at some point made me feel badly about being myself.

He's never judged me for being myself. He's never called me annoying or shamed me for being a little immature. He genuinely loves me and likes me as I am, and he will listen to me make a complete a** of myself being overly goofy and just be so cool with it.

I first time I let my weird personality quirks show he acted like it was the most precious thing he'd ever seen and it made me feel a way I've never felt. I knew he was the one for me.

  • (#17) She Talked With Him For Hours Without Getting Tired

    From Redditor /u/MsShevy:

The very first night he and I hung out, we talked nonstop until 7 am the next morning. That next day I had to go to work at 10 am. I got to work and I had never felt so awake in my life. Almost five years later and I still get that feeling when I'm with him.

  • (#18) They Knew After A Bad Joke

    From Redditor /u/Fujiami:

I realized I loved my Girlfriend on our second date. I planned our first one, you know your classic movie, dinner, ice cream and it went really well so she planned the second one. She wanted to go mini golfing in this town kinda far away which I've never been to called Orange. We get there and she and I decided to go to the Christmas Tree Shop before hand because I've never been in. We get to the the store and they sent us on our way because they were closing. We go to the mini golf place and they tell us that they aren't taking any more customers because the line is long and they were closing in a bit too (I know not the best planning). So we decided to just get some ice cream at this local ice cream shop we passed by. We get our ice cream and sit down enjoying each others company trying to decide what to do. I say, "Where even is orange."

To which she replied, "Between red and yellow." I knew that instant she was the one.

  • (#19) They Knew When He Cleaned Up Their Dog's Mess

    From Redditor /u/cloverbunny:

My family had a golden retriever that was absolutely terrified of fireworks. My S/O and I were staying up late one 4th of July night, playing Bingo Battle from Pikmin 3. We were in the living room when he turned to me and asked, "Do you smell that?"

We both turn around and see that my sweet golden retriever shat all over the floor rug. There was a quiet utterance of, "oh my god" from me. It was quite the blowout, as you can imagine a doggy stress-poop would be.

Without hesitation, my S/O immediately sprung to his feet, opened the door and started to move the entire 5x7 carpet outside to rinse it down. I took Ms. Poopy-Butt outside to rinse off her skirts and tail (as well as some cuddles/reassurance).

I knew in that moment that I loved that man and wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. He leaped into action for a stinky dog that was not his nor his responsibility. Just knew she needed help.

He was also there while that golden was on her deathbed many years later. This time not only assuring the dog, but my mom as well. He's my favorite. Eight years together in March.

  • (#20) Their First Time Seeing Her After Months Apart

    From Redditor /u/thiefwatcher:

Few years back, I was about to meet my girlfriend for the first time in three months. We were counting down the days, but the moment I walked out of that airport and I saw her standing there for me, all I saw was her in that bright red dress in front of that overcast background, as if the rest of the world was hazy (very movie-like if I'm being honest). And when she hugged me, it just felt right. Like it was all worth it and everything was going to be alright.

Standing there surrounded by her warmth and smell, it seemed like she must be the special one if my sight automatically blurs out everything else when I see her. Too bad it didn't last.
