About This Tool
The Middle Tennessee State University was founded in 1911 as one of three state teacher training colleges. In 1925, the initial two-year teacher training program was expanded to a four-year normal school, with the addition of a bachelor of science degree. In 1943, after the approval of the state government, MTSU became a public state university. MTSU gradually developed into the largest undergraduate university in the state. Tennessee’s first “Honors College” was also established in 1998.
