Why Is He So Lucky? Five older brothers in a humble family has its downsides, but Ron is lucky to come from a loving and healthy family. He gets to be best friends with Harry and go on adventures with him, without having the burden of being the Chosen One. He qualifies to join the Quidditch team, and to everyone’s surprise - including his own - Ron is made a prefect in his fifth year. He survives the Battle of Hogwarts, as well as helps Harry and Hermione destroy Voldemort’s Horcruxes. As an adult, he winds up marrying and having a family with the talented and brilliant Hermione.
Luckiest Moment: When their dad stops the twins from tricking their baby brother Ron into participating in an unbreakable curse.

(#2) Buckbeak

Who He Is: A Hippogriff who goes from regal Care of Magical Creatures subject to conflict-hardened survivor.
Why Is He So Lucky? Buckbeak may be the luckiest character in the Harry Potter series because he is the only one saved by time-manipulating wizards. Out of all the characters that could have been saved by the Time-Turner (like Harry’s parents, for starters), he is the only one. Not only does he avoid an execution sentence, he also escapes Hogwarts afterwards without being captured - and ironically - later returns to Hogwarts to live with Hagrid under the pseudonym “Witherwings.”
Luckiest Moment: When he avoids execution from the Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures, thanks to Dumbledore allowing Hermione to use the Time-Turner.

(#3) Ginny Weasley

Who She Is: The youngest of the Weasley siblings, member of Dumbledore’s Army, talented Quidditch player, and, later on, Harry’s wife.
Why Is She So Lucky? The baby sister of the Weasley family, Ginny is one of the luckiest Harry Potter characters because she survives her encounter with Voldemort and the Chamber of Secrets during her first year at Hogwarts. In her fourth year, she qualifies to join the Hogwarts Quidditch team like her brothers Ron and Charlie. And she gets to marry the guy she had a crush on for years, Harry, and have three kids with him - whose names make fans everywhere swoon.
Luckiest Moment: When Harry saves her life in the Chamber of Secrets.

Who He Is: It may seem obvious and/or redundant, but objectively, Harry is one incredibly lucky wizard.
Why Is He So Lucky? The Boy Who Lived may have experienced a lot of adversity and loss, but he also leads a full, rich, and adventurous life. Here are some but certainly not all of the times Harry managed solely because of luck: surviving Voldemort’s curse, being raised by Muggles (instead of being raised in the magical world, where he would have wound up spoiled and full of himself like Malfoy), meeting the Weasleys, befriending Hermione, becoming Seeker, surviving his encounter with the Whomping Willow, getting a Cloak of Invisibility and the Marauder’s Map, evading Gilderoy Lockhart’s attempt to obliviate his memory, escaping giant spiders in the Forbidden Forest, finding the Room of Requirement, eluding Aragog and the giant spiders, obtaining Felix Felicis, surviving the Triwizard Tournament, and destroying Horcruxes.
Luckiest Moment: Getting to marry the love of his life while keeping his best friend.
All is well.

(#5) Narcissa Malfoy

Who She Is: The mother of Draco Malfoy, wife of Lucius, and only sister of Bellatrix Lestrange.
Why Is She So Lucky? Narcissa is vain, cruel, a supporter of the Dark Arts, and an enabler of her husband’s vicious behavior. This makes all she gets away with in the Harry Potter movies that much more lucky. She convinces Severus Snape to conduct an Unbreakable Vow protecting her son, a feat her sister Bellatrix didn’t think he’d ever do. She also gets away with telling a convincing lie to Voldemort, who's a master of Occlumency and could almost always tell when someone was lying to him. As a result, she is able to save her son’s life (and Harry’s) as a result. Her entire immediate family survives the Battle of Hogwarts and are forgiven for their former wrongdoings after Voldemort is defeated.
Luckiest Moment: When she tells Lord Voldemort that Harry has perished, and he believes her.

(#6) William Weasley

Who He Is: The eldest of the Weasley siblings.
Why Is He So Lucky? After Bill graduates from Hogwarts, he pursues a career working as a Curse-Breaker for Gringotts Wizarding Bank. It is while working with Gringotts he meets his wife-to-be, the lovely Fleur Delacour. As if that isn’t lucky enough, Bill also survives an ordeal at the paws of the werewolf Fenrir Greyback during the Battle of the Astronomy Tower. He bears a scar on his face for life after that, but luckily shows no signs of werewolf symptoms.
Luckiest Moment: Living through an assault by Fenrir Greyback.

(#7) Draco Malfoy

Who He Is: The only son and heir of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, an old and proud family with Dark Arts tendencies. Also, he is Harry’s nemesis (aside from Voldemort).
Why Is He So Lucky? Draco was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, which is lucky enough in itself. He always has his sidekicks, the hulking Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle, to do his dirty work for him and act as his bodyguards. On top of that, he survives encounters with doom numerous times, and avoids receiving just punishment for his misbehaviors and wrongdoings.
Luckiest Moment: When Harry rescues him from an outbreak of Fiendfyre in the Room of Requirement.

(#8) Rubeus Hagrid

Who He Is: Rubeus Hagrid is who he is, an’ he is not ashamed.
Why Is He So Lucky? Hagrid did have a string of bad luck, considering he was expelled from Hogwarts in his third year, wrongly accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets (twice), and served a six-month sentence in Azkaban. Ultimately, though, Hagrid is exceptionally lucky. He gets to remain on school grounds as gamekeeper and a trusted confidant of Dumbledore. He plays an important role in Harry’s life, and the two of them are lucky to know each other.
Luckiest Moment: Using his broken wand without getting caught.

Who She Is: A student with Veela blood who attends the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. She's also a Triwizard Tournament champion.
Why Is She So Lucky? Being born beautiful totally has to do with luck. Considering her part-Veela lineage, Fleur is naturally beautiful - to the point that those around her become hypnotized and dazed by her looks. In addition to being gorgeous, Fleur survives the Triwizard Tournament, and meets Bill Weasley while later working at Gringotts Wizarding Bank. After they get married, Bill survives an assault by Fenrir Greyback, and they both are lucky enough to survive the Battle of Hogwarts.
Luckiest Moment: Being separated from Harry and Cedric Diggory during the Third Task of the Triwizard Tournament.

(#10) Dobby the House Elf

Who He Is: A free elf.
Why Is He So Lucky? No creature should ever experience servitude against its will. Dobby the House-elf was lucky because he's liberated from his life of maltreatment and enslavement under the Malfoys by Harry. This allowed him to pursue a life of freedom and self-discovery that he otherwise never would have gotten to experience. It's true that he tragically perished at the hands of Bellatrix Lestrange, but he perished a sovereign and liberated creature while fighting alongside people he cared about. Better to perish free than live an enslaved life against your will.
Luckiest Moment: When Harry tricks Lucius Malfoy into setting Dobby free with a well-placed sock.

Who He/She Is: Norbert(a) is a Norwegian Ridgeback that was secretly hand-raised by Hagrid until he was discovered and had to be handed over to a dragon sanctuary.
Why Is He/She So Lucky? The dragon formerly known as “Norbert” is lucky to come into the possession of Hagrid via a disguised Professor Quirrell. The dragon could have wound up with some dark wizard of ill intent, but came into Hagrid’s loving care instead. After hatching in Hagrid’s hut, the then-named Norbert quickly becomes too large and noticeable to stay on school grounds. The dragon is discovered one night by Malfoy, and Hagrid is forced to move him somewhere safer. Thankfully, Charlie Weasley is able to arrange for the Ridgeback to be brought safely to the dragon sanctuary in Romania where he is working at.
Luckiest Moment: Escaping Hogwarts to live at a dragon sanctuary.

Who He Is: Headmaster Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore was Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorcerer, Supreme Mugwump, Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot.
Why Is He So Lucky? Dumbledore lived many lives and experienced many heartaches, trials, tribulations, discoveries, and victories. Some might not consider him lucky for the hardships and mistakes he made while he was alive. However, Dumbledore was incredibly fortunate in that many of his long-term plans worked out the way he’d envisioned. This includes having Harry raised by his Muggle family, keeping Snape close to Voldermort, getting Slughorn to give Harry his unadulterated memories, sealing the fate of the Elder Wand, and setting up the ultimate demise of Voldemort with Harry surviving it.
Luckiest Moment: Creating a bond with Fawkes the Phoenix.

Who He Is: A Gryffindor student and devoted Quidditch team captain.
Why Is He So Lucky? When Professor McGonagall sees Harry catch Neville Longbottom’s Remembrall on a broomstick from a 50-foot dive, she bends the rules so Harry could get his own broomstick and join the Quidditch team - making him the youngest Seeker in over a hundred years and the envy of Draco Malfoy. Harry turns out to be a brilliant player and breaks Gryffindor’s losing streak of over seven years.
Luckiest Moment: When by-the-book McGonagall allows underage Harry to join Oliver's Quidditch team.

Why Is He So Lucky? Dudley is lucky in the fact that he was born to parents who spoiled and cared for him, as well as watched out for his every need. It could be argued, as Dumbledore pointed out, that it’s a disadvantage and actually cruel - but, overall, being spoiled is much better than being neglected and living in a broom closet.
Luckiest Moment: When Harry saves Dudley from the Dementor’s kiss.

Who He Is: An Acromantula formerly owned by Hagrid.
Why Is He So Lucky? He was hand-raised by Hagrid, which would be pretty awesome because he is so kind and loving to all creatures. He was surely fed the best spider foods and given the best spider care that Hagrid could provide for him. When Hagrid was wrongly accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets and harboring the evil creature within, he set Aragog free in the Forbidden Forest rather than turn him over to authorities. As a result, Aragog lived on to have many children - as Harry and Ron would later learn, much to their chagrin. That's pretty lucky for a humble spider.
Luckiest Moment: When Hagrid sets him free in the Forbidden Forest.

Why Is He So Lucky? Lucius is a straight-up jerk who thinks it's okay to slip an active Horcrux to a vulnerable little girl, revel in the downfall of others, give hush money to authorities, mistreat his House-elf, and celebrate the Dark Arts. He's a known Death Eater who attempts to destroy Harry and follow Lord Voldemort's bidding every chance he gets. Considering all this, he is very lucky to have survived through to the end of the series relatively unscathed. He only serves a short stint in Azkaban for his wrongdoings before escaping. On top of that, he and his immediate family survive the Battle of Hogwarts and find redemption in the end. We’re not so sure that redemption is deserved, but we’re not the ones who wrote the books or the scripts.
Luckiest Moment: When he serves Dumbledore a forged Order of Suspension, and Dumbledore chooses not to disgrace him.
