  Daniel Radcliffe over the years has said he recalls "so many very, very good memories" from filming the series, but one does tend to stick out, as he told a HollywoodLife interviewer:

  I have one... weird, surreal moment I'll carry with me my entire life. One morning I came in and Gary Oldman taught me how to play the bass line to "Come Together" by the Beatles, on bass guitar that I was learning at the time, and he also played bass. So I had a bass lesson from Gary Oldman one morning - that was pretty great.

'Cause all of a sudden really I was just on a film set and I never really knew how films were made and everything was just so new and exciting... It was actually the last scene of the first film, so that was kind of strange.   That was my first chance at kind of being there from the very start of the film to the end of it without having any long breaks, and getting a chance to work with Alan Rickman and Michael Gambon, it was really a dream come true. And I had a massive crush on Helena [Bonham Carter] at the time... That was a lot of fun.

  Matthew Lewis told CNN he was anxious during his very first week of filming Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone because he learned that the first-years' broomstick lesson at Hogwarts would focus on him. But director Chris Columbus put him at ease, Lewis said:

  I just remember being so frightened of the whole process of being in this big, big film. And then I was told by Christopher Columbus that the first scene I would be doing was all about me and I would be working with the stunt team. It was very nerve-wracking, but he put me at ease and made me relax, and it ended up being the most fantastic week. I remember being very excited for the next six months or so. Little did I know that it would go on for another decade.

  Helena Bonham Carter told MTV News she enjoyed her interactions with Hermione in both parts of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, including their confrontation at Malfoy Manor, and the scene in which she impersonates Hermione in Gringotts Wizarding Bank:

  The best bit about being Bellatrix in this one is also because I got to pretend to be Hermione. Because Hermione takes polyjuice potion and gets to look like Bellatrix. Rather than put Emma Watson in a helluva load of makeup, they just said, "Now you go act like Hermione." That was fun, because I always wanted to be Hermione. [I was] looking at Dan [Radcliffe] and Rupert [Grint] and they were treating me as if I was 17.

  Devon Murray told Crooked Llama he spent every birthday from age 11 to 22 on the Harry Potter set, and the first one was his favorite:

  We were on location for Flitwick's levitation class. And it was the day I got to blow up the feather. So as soon as we finished filming, [producer] David Heyman brought in the biggest chocolate cake I'd ever seen in my life. It was huge. First of all, we had a party at lunch hour, then we had a party again when we finished filming. And I got to keep the feather I got to blow up. David Heyman gave me lots of different presents. And everybody was giving presents. And it was just really, really fun.

  I loved it because it was full of both magic and very human nonsense. There was a man sitting in the fireplace and he had a catapult and fired the first letter. And of course he kept not shooting it to the right place. So we had to keep doing it.

  I got to do some really interesting and important things, which is nice. Previously... I've been the kind of comic relief. I've had silly, fun things to do, which have been very memorable. It's wonderful. People always remember those moments, but I felt having Griphook and Flitwick [in the final two films] - I have much more bearing and importance on the plot as well.

  Evanna Lynch told Eva Karpman, young host of the Dream Big podcast, that her favorite memory was meeting J.K. Rowling for the first time. The two had actually been writing letters to each other, as pen pals, before Lynch was cast, but they didn't meet in person until Rowling visited the set:

  I absolutely loved her world and I just was so overwhelmed... They didn't tell me she was coming in that day. And I was just sitting in the makeup chair getting my makeup done. It was all very surreal anyway; I was still pinching myself... She just walked into the room and I didn't register that it was her, because, you think, she's just this amazingly talented, super famous legendary writer. But she's so small in real life; she's just a normal lady. And I was like, how could all this come from one person?

  Bonnie Wright told The Tab she liked her very first filmed scene:

  I guess... the super early experiences, like my first day on set that was at Platform 9 3/4 at King's Cross. It was such a new world that I was stepping into... I didn't know what we were meant to do, or where we were meant to stand and how we were meant to be.

  And even from that moment it was such a warm environment to be in. It was so welcoming and I was made to feel like I knew what I was doing and not patronized. And I think that was a good thing for all of us. We were all so young and yet we were respected in the fact that we were acting and working, too. I think that really enabled us to grow into ourselves and be confident.
