  Is it even possible to build a retro pony car without a manual transmission? Dodge offers a stick shift on all trim levels of the Challenger, including the awesome 707-horsepower Hellcat. In fact, six-speed manual tranny Hellcats are handily outselling automatic versions - there aren't many other cars on Earth that can claim that stat.

  Count on it, bet on it, put your soul on the line, take it to the bank, take it to heart, and take it to the house: it'll be a cold day in hell before Porsche stops offering manual transmissions. Porsche is the only non-Korean manufacturer on Earth to offer a manual transmission in every single vehicle in its line-up.

  Gone is the old Tremec 6060 for Corvette's C7 iteration. Here to stay is the bespoke TR-6070. It's just like the old transmission, but with a new and improved number. That's not all that's new and improved, either. While the last generation was panned by some Eurotrash types as being cheap, flimsy, and untamable, the (far better looking) C7 has proven well on par with many Italians that cost two to three times as much.

  It's a Mustang. That should pretty much sum it up. At no point in the car's history has it not come with a manual, and that certainly isn't changing now. Especially since the Mustang's latest generation leans so heavily on Ford's huge base of younger 5.0 fanboys. Six-speeds are on offer for all trim levels; V-6 engines get the Tremec 3160, while 5.0- and 5.2-liters get a Getrag Ford MT82.

  BMW is another one of those German brands that's just never going to not offer a manual transmission on something. Granted, they have been a little more aggressive in adopting DSG gearboxes on higher-end models, but the "Ultimate Driver's Car" could never claim that title without a proper stick on offer.

  Chevy offers a six-speed stick on almost all trim levels of the Camaro, from the base V-6 all the way up to the ZL1. The top transmission is the Tremec 6060, and the base model uses the 3160. And that's all good... but here's a little something that might elicit a slight involuntary gag from Chevy owners: both of them either have been or are currently used in Mustangs.

  The Subaru/Scion twins are probably best thought of as Mazda Miatas with a roof. There's something to be said for a concept that uses deliberately grip-less tires, specifically to make drifting the car easier and more fun. Yes, you could bolt a set of slicks to the thing to set autocross lap times, but that is kind of missing the point.

  The new Miata is one spectacular car, and many journalists are already calling it the greatest driver's car of all time. Considerably more butch than its predecessor, the Miata is finally shedding some of its hair salon image and finding fans among younger males who wouldn't be caught dead standing next to one before. Of course it's got a stick. It's still a Miata, after all.

  For real... who goes rock crawling with an automatic? At this point, Jeep couldn't get rid of a stick shift option if they wanted to. Even the godforsaken tragedy that was the Liberty had a six-speed manual, and this generation Wrangler shares the same NSG370 gearbox.

  You'd kind of expect a car so often referred to as the "four-door Corvette" to offer a manual, and the old-school hot rod CTS-V doesn't disappoint. It's six-speed transmission is far from old-school, though. The current generation CTS-V uses a Tremec T6060, shared with the C6 Corvette, previous generation Dodge Viper, and current Camaro SS.

  Say what? For those who don't already know, Nissan still makes the Skyline - it's just, for some reason, sold as the Infiniti Q70 here. But Infiniti is an American brand, and the Skyline still keeps its real name everywhere else. One of those places is Australia, where not only is the Skyline a Skyline, and not only does it come with a six-speed manual tranny, but that transmission is connected to a four-cylinder Mercedes diesel. Yeah. Figure that one out. Someone needs to turn Australia right side up ASAP. The blood is clearly going to their heads.

  If you really enjoy punching robots in the face, you'd be hard pressed to find a better ride than the manual-transmission, diesel Ram HD. Yes, it sucks on gas and it's impossible to park in a single space, but as truck driver dreams go, this one will definitely punch a new hole in your man card.

  All right, it's not a "mini-truck" anymore, those have gone the way of the dodo in America. This new Ranger is about the size of a 1980 F-150. But diesels get a six-speed stick, and 2.5-liter gas versions come with a five-speed. So, maybe all isn't completely lost when it comes to little-truck fun... relatively speaking, of course.

  As Porsche's long-time corporate cousin, Volkswagen's always going to make a list of manual transmission cars. They don't offer a manual on all their vehicles the way Porsche does, but they do for most. I picked the Jetta, because (despite VW's recent publicity issues) the diesel is still pretty fantastic in terms of mileage, cost, and emissions. It's just not as good as VW claimed without urea injection. If the Jetta or the diesel aren't to your taste, VW offers stick on most of their other products.

  If you can't find the joy in whipping a tiny, peppy, stick-shift compact around town, then just give up on life. You're dead inside. Honda's Fit certainly isn't quite a Lamborghini. It's not even a Civic. But it is everything the Civic used to be, before it got old and fat. Say what you will about kids these days, but only the most jaded could deny the dumb-puppy appeal of this stick-shift city scooter.
