(#2) Radiohead
- 1986
Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead tweeted on June 11, 2019 that the band had been hacked, and member Thom Yorke's minidisk archive had been stolen. Hackers demanded $150,000 for the materials, which included 18 hours of band footage from around the time of "OK Computer," the group's third album (1997).
"So instead of complaining -- much -- or ignoring it, we're releasing all 18 hours on Bandcamp in aid of Extinction Rebellion," Jonny Greenwood's social media post read. They're selling the footage for $23 for the next 18 days, and it will benefit UK-based climate protest organization Extinction Rebellion, which says it uses "non-violent civil disobedience to achieve radical change."
Greenwood noted that the recordings are "only tangentially interesting" and "very, very long. Not a phone download."
