  Rock Lee is already plenty strong - he's actually one of the greatest taijutsu users in the world of Naruto. But there is a way for him to get stronger that doesn't involve training with Gai-sensei - drinking.

  As an underaged ninja with very strict personal morals, Lee would never intentionally get drunk. When he accidentally gets drunk off of what he thinks is medicine during a fight with Kimimaro, he loses any sense of physical inhibition and goes wild on whoever happens to be around him. Afterwards, he won't remember what happened.

  His fighting style may actually be based on a real style of martial arts called Drunken Boxing, in which the sober fighter imitates the movements of a drunk person.

  Most of the time, Zenitsu Agatsuma is a cowardly crybaby who hides behind small children and begs his fellow demon slayers to protect him. It doesn't seem like he has any notable power to speak of, but all of that changes when he's unconscious. 

  Free of the fear that plagues him when he's awake, Zenitsu is able to unleash his full strength, which includes a wide range of electricity based powers. When he comes to, he doesn't remember anything that's happened, and often attributes any acts of heroism that took place to the people around him.

  (#4) Tamaki Amajiki Can Manifest The Traits Of His Food In 'My Hero Academia' 

  Tamaki Amajiki can activate his quirk, Manifest, whenever he wants - but its strength and its nature depends on what he's eaten recently. While a food remains in his system, he can manifest the attitributes of whatever he ate in his body. So, for example, if he eats takoyaki, he can sprout octopus tentacles, and when he eats chicken he can grow wings.

  As long as he's capable of disgesting something, he can manifest its traits, but the effects only last until the digestion process is complete.

  (#5) Saiyans Transform Into Great Apes During The Full Moon In 'Dragon Ball'

  Unless you're also a super-powered alien, you probably don't want to challenge a Saiyan ever, but if you're going to try, you should probably do it when there's no full moon. That's because during the full moon, Saiyans with tails can transform into a Great Ape. This ape is basically anime King Kong - huge, powerful, and terrifying. 

  Because the glands that help along the transformation are located in the tail, Saiyans who have lost their tail can't transform - that's why when Yajirobe slices off Vegeta's tail he transforms back into his humanoid form. Also, it doesn't happen automatically just because there's a full moon out - the Saiyan in question needs to actually be looking at it, in order to absorb at least 17 million zeno units of Blutz Waves through their eyes and trigger the change.

  Akiko Yosano's power, Thou Shalt Not Die, seems like a standard issue healing ability - that is, until you hear what's required to activate it. She can't heal anybody unless their injuries are so severe that they're potentially fatal. To circumvent this, she beats the living hell out of whoever she wants to help. Consequently, many prefer to let their wounds heal on their own time.

  Unlike many of the characters on this list, Kyo Sohma doesn't actually benefit from his power-up - actually, it's the biggest source of shame and misery in his life. 

  All cursed members of the Sohma family transform into an animal when hugged by a member of the opposite sex. While this is a bizarre trigger, transforming into an animal doesn't necessarily make you more powerful - depending on the animal, it may make you less so.

  But in addition to his regular cat transformation, Kyo also turns into a horrible decaying monster that has the power to slap a person clear off a cliff. The trigger for this is losing a string of prayer beads that he always wears around his wrist. Realistically speaking, he'd be transforming a lot more often than he actually does just by rolling over on his wrist in his sleep.

  Y'all knew this was coming. The Qwaser of Stigmata is one of the most notoriously weird shows in the history of anime, for exactly the reason that it's on this list.

  Qwasers control a particular element, such as copper, oxygen, iron, or anything else on the periodic table. To activate their powers, they have to drink something called Soma. Soma is taken from women's breasts, and it's a mixture of both breast milk and her soul. Taking too much can prove fatal, since it's, y'know, literally draining her soul.

  Why does anybody sign up for this? Because apparently, the process is immensely pleasurable. Also because of saving the world and whatever, but that is clearly not the point of this show.

  (#12) Bertha Activates Her Powers By Eating Cigarettes In 'Darker Than Black'

  Bertha can control the resonance of sound. Every object and living thing has a particular sound frequency. Bertha can launch a matching frequency at whatever she chooses, causing it to be desroyed. She can even do this with human organs, thus ending the person's life. 

  In order to activate her powers, Bertha has to eat something and then vomit it back up. While she could technically use just about anything, she chooses to eat cigarettes. Why? Because her daughter passed away from eating a cigarette she left out, and she's punishing herself.

  In order to activate her ability, Ai Mori must persuade her target to pose with their fists pressed to their chin and one leg popped up. If she somehow satisfies this strange condition, she's able to brainwash them. Specifically, she can brainwash them into developing a raging obsession with eyeglasses. This is marginally useful in that she can force her target to obey her commands by threatening to destroy the glasses in question.
