  (#1) Alois Trancy Stabs A Maid In The Eye In 'Black Butler II'

  Alois Trancy is known for being spoiled and capricious, and he proves it in the first episode he appears in by stabbing a maid in the eye with two of his fingers. Why did he do such a thing? Because she looked directly at him, which was insulting to him as her master.

  The rest of the servants have to clean up the blood, all while internally freaking out about having to work for this kid.

  (#2) Literally Everything Akito Sohma Does In 'Fruits Basket'

  If you're expecting a reasonable response to literally anything, don't go to Akito Sohma. Akito is not only the head of the Sohma family, they're also the god of those cursed by the Zodiac animals. For this reason, every family decision has to be approved by them. If anything happens that even remotely implies that the members of the Zodiac are moving away from Akito emotionally, they become violent.
  
  One disturbing example of this is when Akito's doctor, Hatori, requested permission to marry his girlfriend Kana. Akito reacted by shoving Hatori into a glass pane, blinding him in one eye. Perhaps even more extreme, when 12-year-old Hiro tells Akito that he's in love with a girl named Kisa, Akito beats Kisa within an inch of her life. Things only get worse in the manga - but generally speaking, Akito is one big disproportionate reaction.

  (#3) Nagisa Shiota's Mother Tries To Force Him To Set His School On Fire In 'Assassination Classroom'

  Nagisa Shiota's mother has some pretty weird expectations for her son to begin with. Unhappy with her own restrictive childhood, she wanted to redo her girlhood through a daughter. When she had a son instead, she forced Nagisa to crossdress and keep his hair long. What's more, she refuses to allow Nagisa to form or express his own opinions about pretty much everything. 

  When Koro-sensei, Nagisa's teacher, rightly chastises her behavior, she reacts by drugging Nagisa, then bringing him to his school to try and force him to burn down the building where class 3-E is held. Nagisa doesn't comply, and ultimately ends up showing his mother that she needs to give him some freedom when he rescues her from a group of assassins.

  (#4) Mikami Teru Takes People Out For Jaywalking In 'Death Note'

  Whether or not people who are guilty of horrific crimes like murder and sexual assault deserve to be taken out via the Death Note is up for debate, but those aren't the only kinds of crimes that Mikami doles out punishment for. Minor crimes like parking violations, jaywalking, and littering are reason enough for Mikami to write down a name.

  Light Yagami doesn't personally eliminate people who commit minor crimes like this, but he doesn't stop Mikami from doing so, either.

  (#5) Lucy Responds To Jealousy With Bloodshed In 'Elfen Lied'

  Kouta is one of Lucy's first friends outside of the orphanage she fled from, so it's understandable that she'd get a little too attached to him, and might feel jealous when she finds out that he wasn't being fully honest about who he was going to a festival with - but her reaction was absolutely off the chain.
  
  Kouta claimed to be going with his cousin, which was true. Because he sensed that Lucy wasn't going to react well to him spending time with a girl, even a relative, he lied and said that his cousin was a boy. When Lucy found out, she killed Kouta's sister and his father as revenge.

  (#6) Beerus Lives Up To His Title In 'Dragon Ball Super'

  Beerus is the God of Destruction, so it's only natural that he's going to, well, destroy things. That being said, the reasons he cites are pretty ridiculous. One time, he blows up half a planet because he didn't enjoy their greasy food, and he gets into a potentially world-ending battle over pudding. Even worse, during his first visit to Earth, he eliminated dinosaurs as a species because he thought they were rude. God of Destruction or not, that's pretty intense.

  (#7) Takeshi Koumoto Was Killed Over Pudding In 'Gantz'

  Gantz is an exceptionally violent anime, so it makes sense that not every act of violence happens for a valid reason. One of the most blameless victims in the series is two-year-old Takeshi Koumoto, whose mother's boyfriend ended his life after he ate some of his pudding.

  Presumably, the dude could have just bought more pudding, but even if that were the last cup of pudding on Earth, that could not possibly justify harming a toddler.

  (#8) Big Mom Will Destroy A Country Over Candy In 'One Piece'

  Big Mom, also known as Charlotte Linlin, is a member of the Yonko - the four most powerful pirate captains in the world. While her abilities are impressive, she's known for taking some serious liberties with those under her protection.

  Any nation that wants her help has to pay up - not in money, but in candy. Should they fail to produce ten tons of candy per month, it's not just the folks who made the deal who will suffer - she'll straight up destroy the entire country.

  (#9) Tetsurou Negoro Is Sent To Hell For Spilling Coffee In 'Hell Girl'

  Hell Girl is an anime where people type the name of a person who wronged them into a magical website, and that person is immediately taken to Hell. The catch is that whoever typed the name will also go to Hell at the end of their natural lifespan. 

  Sometimes, the people who meet this fate are deserving, but sometimes they very much are not. Tetsurou Negoro is one of those people. He's bad with money and not the best boyfriend, but that's not why his name is written down. It's because he accidentally scratched somebody's car and then spilled coffee on him. Worth getting annoyed at, sure - worth sending someone to Hell and condemning yourself to Hell? Absolutely not.

  (#10) Innocuous Actions Are Considered Hate Crimes In 'A Centaur's Life'

  In the world of A Centaur's Life, humanity has diverged along different evolutionary tracts, resulting in a long history of prejudice and warfare. In an attempt to fight against discrimination, a wide range of seemingly random things are made illegal. For example, because centaurs were once forcibly used as pack animals, it's illegal for other species to ride them. 

  Reasonable? It would be, except that the consequences for failure to comply involve being arrested and sent away to a reeducation camp. Also, it doesn't matter if it happens because, for example, the centaur in question wanted to help out a friend who was too tired to keep walking so they could both get to their destination faster.

  (#11) Suboshi Takes Out Tamahome's Whole Family Over A Mistake In 'Fushigi Yugi'

  Sometimes, disproportionate retribution comes from people who actually have been seriously wronged in some way. Suboshi had every right to be upset at his twin brother's passing, and it wasn't exactly his fault that he was given incorrect information about who was responsible. 

  But Suboshi's response to believing that the Suzaku Seven was responsible for his brother's demise was off the charts. He had several options - take the time to learn what had actually happened to his brother, fight the people he thought were responsible, or even take a single life in retaliation - but instead Suboshi eliminates Tamahome's entire family, which consisted of a sick father and several younger siblings, one of whom was still a toddler. None of them deserved that.

  (#12) Naru Narusegawa Punches Keitaro Urashima For Something She Did In 'Love Hina'

  One of the major running gags in the world of Love Hina is that any time Keitaro does something lewd, he gets decked. This would be justified if the acts weren't exclusively composed of things that are not his fault. Yes, it's not ideal if he trips and his face grazes somebody's breast, but his apologetic reaction makes it fairly obvious that it wasn't a calculated move.

  Getting punched for a mistake is bad enough, but it gets worse when Naru punches him for something she did. After she walks in on him changing his clothes, she clocks him as if he'd intentionally flashed her.

  (#13) Pannacotta Fugo Stabs Narancia Ghirga Over A Math Problem In 'JoJo's Bizarre Adventure'

  If you thought your math tutor was a nightmare, just be grateful they're not Pannacotta Fugo. When he's attempting to help Narancia Ghirga study the subject, Narancia answers a question incorrectly. Rather than try to help Narancia understand the question and arrive at a correct answer, he decides to stab him with a fork instead. Narancia retaliates by threatening Fugo with a knife, but that seems slightly more justified given what triggered it.

  Despite the conflict, the two continue working together as members of Team Bucciarati and Passione. When you work for the mafia, violence is apparently expected.

  (#14) Takaaki Kakinuma Locks Up Shinichi Gotou For Years In 'Oldboy'

  Oldboy is a 1996 manga that follows a man named Shinichi Gotou's journey to figure out why he was kidnapped and held in solitary confinement for ten years. At the end of the manga, the reason is finally revealed - and it's unimaginably petty.

  The man who locked Shinichi up, Takaaki Kakinuma, was one of his elementary school classmates. When they were going to school together, Shinichi heard Takaaki singing, and was moved to tears. Takaaki interpreted this as Shinichi intuiting how lonely he was - and he couldn't stand to see those emotions reflected back at him.

  This apparently destroyed his ability to lead a normal life, which led him to seek revenge on Shinichi. Maybe Takaaki should have tried therapy instead.

  (#15) Amiba Destroys Toki's Reputation Over A Slap In 'Fist Of The North Star'

  Nobody likes getting slapped, but a normal reaction doesn't go much further than a retaliatory hit. Amiba does not have a normal reaction. When Toki slaps him on the face by mistake, he responds by getting plastic surgery so that he looks like him, then committing heinous experiments on innocent people in his name, thus totally destroying his reputation.

  There is nothing you could do to someone's face to deserve something so creepy - and none of those experiment victims had a thing to do with it.
