Greed Vs. Father - 'Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood'

Greed Vs. Father - 'Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood'

    [ranking: 1]
The end of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood consists of a no-holds-barred brawl with multiple fights occurring simultaneously. One of the most interesting ones occurs between Greed and Father - his creator, and the person to which he supposedly answers.
By the time he goes up against Father, Greed has worked alongside the heroes to take on the homunculi who remain alive. Father has absorbed God and tries desperately to remain in control, only to eventually fail. He tries to absorb Greed and use his Philosopher's Stone - which Greed allows because it's the only way to keep his host body, Ling, from being absorbed. But while he's inside Father, he takes the opportunity to transform Father's body into a more easily breakable substance.
Though created to be a villain, he joins the side of good in his last moments of existence.

     Sasuke Vs. Danz?? - 'Naruto'

     Sasuke Vs. Danz?? - 'Naruto'

    [ranking: 2]
Though not a villain for the entirety of Naruto, Sasuke Uchiha acts like one when he chooses to go against Konoha and go against his former allies, becoming a villain regardless of what viewers might think of the reasons behind his behavior.
Without Danz?? Shimura, Sasuke never would have become a villain - Danz??, as it turns out, orders Itachi to slay the rest of the Uchiha clan. Sasuke now knows the truth and is ready to tear Danz?? apart. Danz?? fights using the power of Uchiha eyeballs embedded in his withered arm. While extremely gratifying to watch Sasuke get revenge and defeat this dirtbag, one can't easily forget that Sasuke also wants to take his anger out on innocent people.

Chrollo Lucilfer Vs. Hisoka Morow - 'Hunter X Hunter' (Manga)

Chrollo Lucilfer Vs. Hisoka Morow - 'Hunter X Hunter' (Manga)

    [ranking: 3]
Warning: this fight is manga-only, so if you're an anime viewer who doesn't want spoilers, skip this part.
Hisoka Morow may be a villain, but he never really aligns himself with any particular side. His goal in life is to test his strength against the strongest opponents he can find. Sometimes, that means siding with the heroes to protect them until they're strong enough that he may fight them himself, or launching strikes on other villains who he thinks would be fun to spar with.
One of his most interesting fights with another villain happens against Chrollo Lucilfer, the head of the Phantom Troupe. Their battle, which involves an exchange of nen-based moves and ends with Hisoka's demise (which he subsequently revives from), is one of the most intense fights in all of Hunter X Hunter.

Overhaul Vs. The League Of Villains - 'My Hero Academia' (Manga)

Overhaul Vs. The League Of Villains - 'My Hero Academia' (Manga)

    [ranking: 4]
Warning: this scene has yet to pop up in the anime, so if you've yet to catch up with the manga, keep scrolling.
Chisaki Kai, a terrifying villain, reveals exactly what he's made of when the League of Villains invites him to meet with them in an abandoned factory in the hopes of recruiting him. Chisaki finds their plans laughable and disorganized, freely insults them, and then asks them to be subordinate to him instead.
The League of Villains gets angry, and they enter a fight that leaves Magne's body blasted in half, Mr. Compress' arm torn off, and one of Chisaki's allies getting slain. Chisaki leaves and the reader gets the sense the heroes will soon going to have something far more dangerous to deal with than just the League of Villains.

Sebastian Michaelis Vs. Ash Landers - 'Black Butler'

Sebastian Michaelis Vs. Ash Landers - 'Black Butler'

    [ranking: 5]
Ash Landers, a fallen angel gone berserk, tries to burn London to the ground in an effort to purify humanity. This puts him at odds with Sebastian Michaelis, not that he particularly cares about the fate of London. After all, Sebastian's a demon whose job it is to harvest souls.
However, he still wants Ash to perish for his own reasons, so he's more than happy to take him on in a fight. In order to defeat him, he reverts to his much-loathed demonic form, but once that happens he's able to easily tear Ash to shreds.

Mayuri Kurotsuchi Vs. Szayel Aporro Granz - 'Bleach'

Mayuri Kurotsuchi Vs. Szayel Aporro Granz - 'Bleach'

    [ranking: 6]
Though Mayuri Kurotsuchi may fall on the same team as the heroes most of the time, he can't exactly be called good - in fact, his unethical experiments on other human beings make him pretty villainous. But despite his willingness to torture people in the name of science, he'll still rescue his comrades if need be.
He fights Szayel Aporro Granz, a scientist working for Aizen and one of his Espada, who torments Renji and Uryu using a voodoo doll. Kurotsuchi defeats Szayel with some difficulty, spending most of the battle lecturing him about his failure as a man of science.
The fight is clearly less about protecting Kurotsuchi's comrades than it is about his personal ideals. Even the way he defeats Szayel sounds incredibly cruel, with the Arrancar forced to watch his demise approach him over what, at least to him, feels like centuries.

Yami Marik Vs. Yami Bakura - 'Yu-Gi-Oh!'

Yami Marik Vs. Yami Bakura - 'Yu-Gi-Oh!'

    [ranking: 7]
Yami Marik and Yami Bakura both exist as malevolent forces who take control of other peoples' minds and bodies - and in two episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh!, they face each other down in a game of Duel Monsters. Both evil entities wish to gain possession of the others' millennium item, as well as to eliminate the others' soul - or send them to the Shadow Realm in the heavily edited dub.
The duel involves tons of trash-talking and bragging about their respective skills, but in the end, Yami Marik proves victorious. Yami Bakura retreats into a millennium item, promising that Yami Marik hasn't seen the last of him, while Marik moves on to controlling Tea's body to move on to the next phase of his evil plan.

Kusano, Hikawa, And Maesawa Vs. Reiko Tamura - 'Parasyte'

Kusano, Hikawa, And Maesawa Vs. Reiko Tamura - 'Parasyte'

    [ranking: 8]
Reiko Tamura, a parasite whose primary goal involves supposedly securing places for her species to feed on humans, arouses suspicion from her fellow parasites when she starts to show signs of sympathizing with her prey. Three of her fellow parasites decide that, for the health of the group, they're going to have to end her - so Kusano, Hikawa, and Maesawa ambush her as she walks down the street.
Unfortunately for them, Reiko happens to be a much more talented fighter - she's able to divide herself into three separate segments and invade her enemies' bodies, confusing them into fighting each other. Reiko emerges victorious, but the process is gory and horrifying.

Piccolo And Goku Vs. Radditz - 'Dragon Ball Z'

Piccolo And Goku Vs. Radditz - 'Dragon Ball Z'

    [ranking: 9]
Piccolo sheds his villain status throughout the run of Dragon Ball Z, but at the start of the series, he's Goku's arch-nemesis. Despite the rancor between the two, they team up to take on Goku's mysterious brother, Raditz, who has arrived on earth intending to wipe out humanity. Piccolo may not exactly care about humanity at this point, but the Namekian's own run-in with Raditz makes him think the vicious Saiyan needs to be stopped.
During the fight, Piccolo unleashes a move he'd developed to defeat Goku and claims he'll use it on Raditz. Instead, he hits and mortally damages both Saiyans - because, in the end, Piccolo remains out for himself.

Honnouji Academy Vs. Naniwa Kinman High School - 'Kill La Kill'

Honnouji Academy Vs. Naniwa Kinman High School - 'Kill La Kill'

    [ranking: 10]
The battle between Honnouji Academy and Naniwa Kinman High School provides an interesting example of this trope. Both sides appear evil while the fight takes place - Honnouji Academy is ruled by the cruel and despotic Satsuki Kiryuin, who forces her classmates into a never-ending fight for supremacy. However, she's trying to turn the school into a powerful fortress that can be used to defeat her mother Ragyo, who wants to wipe out humanity in exchange for otherworldly power.
Meanwhile, the student council president of Naniwa Kinman High School, Kaneo Takarada, seems like he's simply out to make as much money as possible, and in fact, he's more than happy to bribe people, cause property damage, and otherwise upend people's lives. Secretly, however, he wants all that money to give to Nudist Beach, an organization devoted to protecting humanity from the same threat that Satsuki is fighting against.
This is never made clear during their fight, during which Honnouji tries to infiltrate Naniwa. It looks like two powerful villainous groups duking it out for power.

Kirei Kotomine Vs. Zouken Matou - 'Fate/Stay Night'

Kirei Kotomine Vs. Zouken Matou - 'Fate/Stay Night'

    [ranking: 11]
Kirei Kotomine and Zouken Matou are both pretty despicable people. Kirei wants to eliminate the world for a variety of reasons, including the fact that hurting people is one of the only things that gives his life meaning. Meanwhile, Zouken is a 200+-year-old man who wants to be immortal and loves harming people. Oh, and he's also made of worms. Basically, he's like a less sexy version of Orochimaru.
The two end up locked in a life-or-death fight ending with Kirei slaying and exorcizing Zouken. In the aftermath, Kirei still very much wants to wipe out the world, so it's not like he's good now - but at least he's not violating his granddaughter's body with worms the way Zouken did.

Team Magma Vs. Team Aqua - 'Pok??mon'

Team Magma Vs. Team Aqua - 'Pok??mon'

    [ranking: 12]
Team Magma and Team Aqua exist as villainous organizations who have directly opposing goals - and as a result, each wants to stop the other from achieving their particular aim. Team Magma wants to increase the size of the Earth's landmasses by harnessing the power of Groudon, while Team Aqua wants to do the same thing with the oceans by using Kyogre.
In the eyes of each organization, their goals will produce new evolutions in Pok??mon. Over two episodes in the Advanced Generations series, the two teams battle each other to gain control over the legendary Pok??mon - while also being pursued by Ash and his friends.
Though viewers never support either team's machinations, it makes for enjoyable entertainment to watch them duke it out while the heroes remain unscathed.

Just because two anime characters fall on the villainous side doesn't mean they get along. In fact, many shows feature anime villains fighting each other, a situation that, in theory, should work out for you the viewer.

Two anime villains may beef over personal grudges, like the one the ambiguously villainous Sasuke Uchiha of Naruto holds for the explicitly villainous Danzō Shimura; villains like Greed from Fullmetal Alchemist deciding to show some heroism at the last moment; or even groups like Ladd Russo's gang from Baccano! saving people from a cult because they want to be the ones who slay those people. They may not be final anime fights, but villain vs. villain battles in anime come extremely close to matching the hype.

Villain vs. villain anime fights offer some of the most exciting brawls the anime world has to offer. Neither side operates with heroic intentions in mind, and they often won't hesitate to commit horrifically evil acts in the process. With no heroes around, all bets are off and the drama hits a new high.
