Zangetsu is Ichigo's Zanpakuto, a device with powers that vary depending on the contents of the user's soul. Their primary function is to help Shinigami bring stray souls to the afterlife. Zangetsu is the first Zanpakuto in the Bleach universe to take on a human form.
Specifically, his form represents Ichigo's hidden, darker thoughts and emotions.
Tessaiga And Tenseiga - 'Inuyasha'

The tessaiga was originally created using one of Inuyasha's father's fangs alongside its sister sword, the tenseiga. Inuyasha inherited the sword from his father, while his brother Sesshomaru inherited the tensaiga. Inuyasha's grisly blade is capable of slaying 100 yokai (demons) at once. At its most powerful, it's able to send whatever it touches to Hell. By contrast, the tenseiga can restore life, making it just as impressive if not more so - but because the tessaiga is considered more powerful, Sesshoumaru feels slighted by their father and deeply resents his brother Inuyasha.
Dragon Slayer - 'Berserk'

The Dragon Slayer is less a sword than a giant club made of iron. It can slice, but it's more likely to crush via sheer brute force. Guts is one of the only people capable of wielding it, as most others buckle under the weight.
Not everyone can handle the power that comes with the epic Dragon Slayer.
Ea - 'Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Bladeworks'

Calling Ea a sword is like calling Shou Tucker from Fullmetal Alchemist a jerk - it's technically true, but it's also a massive understatement. Ea created the world by slicing it away from the heavens. It contains the secrets of the universe, and it's entirely capable of wiping out the planet should its wielder choose to do this.
It's also impossible to replicate because it's made of materials that can't be found on Earth. As one might expect, this sword can't be wielded by just anyone; only Gilgamesh can handle Ea.
Wad?? Ichimonji - 'One Piece'

Wad?? Ichimonji is one of the 33 greatest swords in the world of One Piece. It's tough enough to withstand Dracule Mihawk's Yoru, which is capable of making mincemeat of ships and icebergs. Because it's so powerful, its owner, Roronoa Zoro, is constantly working to protect it from people who want to take it either for themselves or hate the idea of a pirate owning it.
To Zoro, the Wad?? Ichimonji is important not just for its immense power, but because it belonged to his childhood friend, Kuina.
Sakabato - 'Rurouni Kenshin'

Unlike Himura Kenshin's previous swords, the Sakabato is designed to be nearly impossible to wipe out with due to its reversed blade. This blade is impressive not because of its power, but because it represents Kenshin's resolve.
He aims to put his violent past behind him and never slay again.
Elucidator And Dark Repulser - 'Sword Art Online'

An anime called Sword Art Online is pretty much obligated to have a few cool swords, and thankfully it doesn't disappoint. Kirito dual-wields the Elucidator and Dark Repulser within the MMORPG he's trapped inside. He got the Elucidator, a black sword with significant heft, from a monster drop.
The Dark Repulser, which was forged by Lisbeth out of a Crystallite Ingot, is equally powerful. It's also noteworthy for being one of the only things Kirito owns that isn't black.
Dimension Sword - 'Yu Yu Hakusho'

The Dimension Sword can do more than just cut into matter; it can also carve through space and time. It's wielded by Kazuma Kuwabara, who is able to summon it into existence when faced with certain demise.
Unfortunately, it takes Kuwabara ages to learn how to use it intentionally.
Ragnarok - 'Soul Eater'

Ragnarok is more than just a sword; he's also an important character. He was partnered with Crona after being melted down and mixed with synthetic blood that was placed in Crona's bloodstream. This allows Ragnarok to control Crona's blood, self-heal, and work in tandem to defeat enemies. Though they are partners, Ragnarok often behaves rudely and aggressively towards Crona. Ragnarok can function as a regular broadsword and create sounds loud enough to be its own offensive strike.
Bustermarm - 'Fairy Tail'

The Bustermarm, a sword owned by Panther Lily, is best known for its gargantuan mass. At nearly four times the size of its wielder, it's a sight to behold. It's also incredibly sharp, boasting the ability to slice through materials such as iron.
Despite its awesome strength, Gajeel Redfox manages to break it during a fight.
Singer's Sword - 'Guilty Crown'

The Singer's Sword is a kind of Void (the physical form of a person's soul). This Void, which belongs to Shu Ouma, has both offensive and defensive capabilities. Not only can it be used like a regular longsword, it also creates strips of metal than can be launched at enemies.
Defensively, it creates large shields to protect its wielder from strikes.
Mugen - 'D.Gray-Man'

Mugen is an Innocence, which means it's a holy device capable of taking down akuma, a form of demon. Wielded by Yu Kanda, this device can take on a variety of forms, but largely sticks to traditional Japanese swords.
When Kanda transfers his blood to Mugen, he can repair anything that has marred the sword, ensuring it's in top condition as long as he is.
Toyako Bokuto - 'Gintama'

Actual swords are banned by the Bakufu, so Gintoki has to use a wooden sword, the Toyako Bokuto, instead. Gintoki claims to have purchased it on a school trip to Lake Toya, but its actual origin is far more interesting. It was created from the wood of a mythical tree on another planet that's over 10,000 years old.
The weapon is capable of cutting through most materials, including things that are harder and denser than wood.
Sword Of Kusanagi - 'Naruto'

There are actually two swords of Kusanagi, one belongs to Sasuke and the other to Orochimaru. Orochimaru's sword of Kusanagi is kept inside a snake that lives in his body. He's able to control it using telekinesis, and it can cut through nearly any surface, no matter how tough.
Sasuke's blade doesn't have those impressive abilities, but he can send powerful bolts of electricity through it that sharpen the blade significantly and electrocute anyone unlucky enough to feel its wrath.
