About This Tool
Compared with land based aircraft of similar size at the time, the seaplane was slow, but safe, comfortable and popular with passengers. In addition to its maritime overlords of the day, the gliders of Britain and South Africa were also in full swing, carrying an important responsibility to fly around the world. This random tool collates the names of 12 of the more famous South African Gliders.
These South African Gliders, which began as fighter jets and have since become commercial and tourist aircraft, carry hundreds of thousands of tourists each year. South Africa has accelerated the mass production of gliders, especially as the seaplane saw a golden age of growth as it catered to long haul routes across the Pacific, Atlantic and beyond. The gliders preserved in the generator are the most basic and popular South African gliders.
