About This Tool

Robert Schmertz was born in Pittsburgh and went to college there. He became known around the world after he wrote the Carnegie Tartans fight song “For the glory of Carnegie” and played banjo with it. Dr. Robert Schmertz composed many manuscripts and works, most of which were preserved at the University of Pittsburgh and not unearthed by music lovers until after his death. The random tool also records 31 well-known pieces of music that he composed, a detailed list of which can be found further.

In the generator, you can see a complete list of each song, the Archive Call reference, Pages, and a brief introduction. Much of this music was composed while he was teaching at the university, and with his academic, historical, and musical studies of the time, Robert Schmertz devoted his life to creating music on a variety of subjects, you can also learn about the history of Pittsburgh from his music.
