By far, Slovenia’s most successful band of any genre or era is the Avsenik Brothers Ensemble, a beloved folk band that has sold more than 31 million albums, breaking records in Slovenia. The local entertainment and music industries developed very early, almost as soon as Slovenia was founded. The country has also produced a number of outstanding composers, who produce catchy tunes that are well known in Slovenia.
Most of these composers were well educated, some were folk musicians, and they had a different understanding of music. This tool generates a list of 88 well known local composers, some whose names you can expect to see along with the music. And the list of these composers, which you can look up at random, is the best way to get to know Slovenian music.
