About This Tool

The Deputy Lieutenant as an advisory body to the British monarchy. It used to be very powerful, but today it is only ceremonial. The Privy Council has different committees, of which the British Cabinet has most of the power. These advisers work primarily with members of the royal family to help them deal with their many internal and external concerns. The sovereign has the right to appoint all the Privy Council advisers, but the actual selection will be made by the government’s advice. There is no limit to the number of advisers and the number remains in the hundreds or so. At different times in the history of the British Royal Family, the generator also collated the corresponding list of advisory members, and also noted the specific time in office.
