About This Tool

Jharkhand is India’s 28th state, which split from Bihar on November 15, 2000. The state’s official language is Hindi and its capital is Ranchi, an industrial city in the state. Jharkhand’s nominal head of state is a state governor appointed by India’s president, with de facto executive power in the hands of a state cabinet headed by a chief minister. The state president appoints the head of the party or coalition that holds the majority of seats in the Legislative Council as the Chief Minister and, on the recommendation of the Chief Minister, appoints the members of the state cabinet, which is accountable to the state legislative council. Jharkhand’s current minister is Syed Sikttey Razi, and his current chief minister is Madhu Koda.
