About This Tool

In 1938, the Polish Communist Party was disbanded by the Third International. In December 1941, at the suggestion of the Third International, some Polish communists in the Soviet Union returned home and, together with Communist-led anti-fascist organizations, secretly established the Polish Workers’ Party in Warsaw in January 1942. Before long, the People’s Guard was formed and guerrilla warfare began.

The party’s program of action was to fight the Hitler occupiers, to fight for national independence and to ally with the Soviet Union. Of these, 27 prominent politicians have been working for the party and the Polish people. Their names are recorded in this random tool generator. Through these lists, we can learn about the realities of political strife and multiparty coexistence in Poland. It wasn’t until December 15, 1948, that the Polish Workers’ Party and the Polish Socialist Party merged and changed their name to Polish United Workers’ Party.
