The Polish United Workers’ Party, a Communist Party in Poland, was the ruling party of the People’s Republic of Poland, a merger of the left-wing parts of the Polish Workers’ Party and the Polish Socialist Party, which began in 1948, the party has ruled Poland, with a one-party dictatorship, and although it began to push for new reforms late in the Polish United Workers’ Party’s reign, it was too late. In the 1989 general election, the party lost to Solidarity, to lose the right to rule.
