About This Tool
The National Hockey Association was founded in 1909 and is made up of hockey teams from Ontario and Richmond. However, with the Toronto Blues Owner Eddie Livingstone and other club owners in dispute, owners of the Montreal Canadiens, the Montreal Rangers, the Ottawa Senators and the Quebec bulldogs came to the Windsor Hotel in Montreal to discuss the future of the NHA. The owners of the four teams eventually decided to disband the NHA and set up the NHL on November 26, 1917.
Even with the League’s finances tight for the first decade, the NHL teams have performed splendidly on the field, with the exception of the 1919 NHL Stanley Cup final against Pcha, which had to be shelved because of the Spanish flu, in the first nine years of the NHL, the NHL Teams Won Stanley Cup.
