Mysterious! It’s a TV anthology produced by WGBH Boston for American PBS. The series is based on mystery, police and Crime Drama Spin Offs from the established PBS programme Masterpiece Theatre. From 1980 to 2006, mystery! Most of the British crime series, bought from or co produced with the BBC or ITV and adapted from British mystery novels, were shown.
In 2002, under pressure to increase American material, a series of novels was created based on the novels of the American mystery writer Tony Hillemann, but most of them were mysteries! Programming has been, and will continue to be, an adaptation of English literature produced with British production companies.
