Daenerys Targaryen (AKA Daenerys Stormborn, Mother of Dragons, Khaleesi) is the daughter of King Aerys II. She appears in the Song of Ice and Fire book series and is played by Emilia Clarke on the HBO show Game of Thrones.
Daenerys seeks to reclaim the Iron Throne for the House Targaryen. She is aided in her quest by legions of followers and her three dragons Viserion, Rhaegal, and Drogon.

(#2) King Viserys III
Viserys Targaryen is the son of Aerys II and brother of Daenerys. He appears in the Song of Ice and Fire book series and is played by Harry Lloyd on the HBO show Game of Thrones.
Viserys arranges for his sister Daenerys to be wed to Khal Drogo in exchange for 10,000 men to help him regain the Iron Throne. Viserys gets impatient and becomes more demanding of Khal Drogo, who eventually tires of Viserys and kills him.

(#3) Aerys II
Aerys II Targaryen (AKA The Mad King) was King of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros before Robert Baratheon's rebellion. He died before the setting of the Song of Ice and Fire book series and HBO show Game of Thrones.
Aerys was plotting to destroy the entire capital of King's Landing with wildfire rather than be conquered by Robert Baratheon. Jaime Lannister killed him before he got the chance.

(#4) Rhaegar
Rhaegar Targaryen is the heir of King Aerys II. He died before the setting of the Song of Ice and Fire book series and the HBO show Game of Thrones.
Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna Stark, propelling a series of events that led to Robert's Rebellion and House Targaryen losing the Iron Throne. He was killed by Robert Baratheon.

Rhaego is the stillborn child of Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo. He appears in the Song of Ice and Fire book series and the HBO show Game of Thrones.
Rhaego was killed just before he was born as the result of a vengeful maegi. He was stillborn, covered in scales and terribly deformed.

(#6) Khal Drogo

Khal Drogo is the leader of the Dothraki and husband of Daenerys Targaryen. He appears in the Song of Ice and Fire book series and is played by Jason Momoa on the HBO show Game of Thrones.
Khal Drogo is a fierce warrior who is very protective of his wife Daenerys. He is destroyed by a vengeful maegi and Daenerys gives him a merciful death and lovingly burns him in a funeral pyre.

Maester Aemon is a member of the Night's Watch and the son of Maekar Targaryen. He appears in the Song of Ice and Fire book series and is played by Peter Vaughan on the HBO show Game of Thrones.
Aemon is the maester of the Night's Watch and is very wise. Most people are not aware that he is a Targaryen. He is very encouraging to Jon Snow. He dies of old age and is succeeded as maester by Samwell Tarly.

(#11) Jorah Mormont

Jorah Mormont is an exiled lord and knight, loyally serving Daenerys Targaryen. He appears in the Song of Ice and Fire book series and is played by Iain Glen on the HBO show Game of Thrones.
Ser Jorah originally started serving Daenerys so that he could spy for Lord Varys. He grows to respect and even love Daenerys as he becomes one of her most trusted allies. After fighting beside her, she encourages him to go seek a cure for greyscale, a disease that is slowly consuming him.

(#13) Prince Aegon
Prince Aegon is the son of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Elia Martell. He is believed to have died before the setting of the Song of Ice and Fire book series and the HBO show Game of Thrones.
It is believed that Aegon Targaryen was killed, along with his mother and sister after Robert Baratheon's Rebellion. It is presumed that Aegon was killed by Gregor Clegane.

(#14) Ser Barristan Selmy
Ser Barristan Selmy is Lord Commander of Daenerys Targaryen's Queensguard. He appears in the Song of Ice and Fire book series and is played by Ian McElhinney on the HBO show Game of Thrones.
Ser Barristan is one of the best knights in all of the Seven Kingdoms. He was dismissed from the Kingsguard of King Joffrey due to his old age, at which point he seeks out Daenerys. He dies defending Grey Worm from the Sons of the Harpy.

(#15) King Hizdahr Zo Loraq XIV
Hizdahr zo Loraq is a nobleman of the city of Meereen. He appears in the Song of Ice and Fire book series and is played by Joel Fry on the HBO show Game of Thrones.
Hizdahr zo Loraq is one of the masters present when Daenerys arrives at Meereen. He later strikes a deal with Daenerys in an attempt to bring peace to the city.

Rakharo is a member of the Dothraki and a bloodrider of Daenerys Targaryen. He appears in the Song of Ice and Fire book series and is played by Elyes Gabel on the HBO show Game of Thrones.
Rakharo is a fearless warrior. He helps stop an assassination attempt on Daenerys in Vaes Dothrak. He is sent by Daenerys to scout a destination and his horse later returns carrying the head of Rakhoro in a bag.

Daario Naharis is the commander of the Stormcrows, a sellsword company that he brought to Daenerys Targaryen. He appears in the Song of Ice and Fire book series and is played by Ed Skrein and Michiel Huisman on the HBO show Game of Thrones.
Daario Naharis is one of Daenerys's most trusted advisers. He played a pivotal role in the siege of Yunkai. The two enter into a relationship, but she dismisses him before her attack on King's Landing, because she fears that having a lover will be an impediment to her as she moves to take the Iron Throne.

(#19) Irri
Irri is the Dothraki handmaiden of Daenerys Targaryen. She appears in the Song of Ice and Fire book series and is played by Amrita Acharia on the HBO show Game of Thrones.
Irri translates Dothraki for Daenerys and she also teachers her the language. Irri's storyline differs from the books and the TV series, in which she is killed in Qarth.

(#20) Doreah
Doreah is a handmaiden of Daenerys Targaryen. She appears in the Song of Ice and Fire book series and is played by Roxanne McKee on the HBO show Game of Thrones.
Doreah's primary duty is to teach Daenerys how to please a man. Her story differs from the books on the TV series, in which she betrays Daenerys in Qarth.
