Where It’s From: Welsh Legend. It’s the prized possession of King Arthur.
What It Does: Gives its wielder amazing powers such as immortality, leadership, and the ability to blind one’s enemies.
Why It’s Awesome: It carries with it a tale as old as time itself and has gone on to become the most famous sword in history.

Where It’s From: The sea in various different storylines and mythologies.
What It Does: Gives total dominion over the sea with the power to control waves, create vortexes, mess with the weather, conjure typhoons, and spew lightning from time to time.
Why It’s Awesome: This nautical weapon is so coveted that it’s made appearances in several different stories such as Hercules, Sophia the First, and The Little Mermaid. Also, legend has it that the trident can even pierce the skin of the mythological gods.

Where It’s From: Middle Earth in J.R.R. Tolkien's mystical The Lord of the Rings series.
What It Does: Controls all of the magical rings of power simultaneously, giving its wearer dominion over Middle Earth.
Why It’s Awesome: It brings to its wearer a great lordship, but sometimes at the price of their innocence. As an added bonus, it was created out of the formidable Sauron’s own soul.

Where It’s From: The Harry Potter universe.
What It Does: In short, it brings the dead to life, renders its sorcerer unbeatable, and makes its wearer invisible. However, since nobody has ever possessed all three Deathly Hollows components simultaneously, it does one or two of those three things at any given time.
Why It’s Awesome: The Deathly Hollows is a magnificent set of equipment fit for a wizard king and nothing less. Anyone who controls all three at the same time becomes the Master of Death.

Where It’s From: The Zelda game series.
What It Does: Beats Ganon and wards off every possible evil.
Why It’s Awesome: In addition to being able to turn the formidable Ganon into stone, this sword also has a goddess living inside it, making it a weapon that is also a deity.

Where It’s From: The Inner Sanctum of the Elder Scrolls vale.
What It Does: Spews cursed Elven arrows, turns day to night, causes the sun to explode and rain harmful rays all over your adversaries, and wreaks utter havoc on the undead.
Why It’s Awesome: This bow scorches enemies with the power of the sun and its impact on the sky is just amazing to watch.

Where It’s From: The Island of Time in the Prince of Persia adventure series .
What It Does: Provides unparalleled time-altering powers to its wielder.
Why It’s Awesome: It does more than just make time-travel possible - it allows its owner to manipulate time, from stopping it, pausing it, fast forwarding it, etc. It is like a remote control, but also it’s a dagger.

Where It’s From: Crafted from magical Valyrian steel, this sword was initially found at Winterfell in House Stark within the Game of Thrones universe.
What It Does: Duplicates itself into two swords, pulls off mass executions, slices through other swords, executes its own master, and various other acts of hardcore ferocity.
Why It’s Awesome: Because it’s comprised of white walker killing material and it metaphorically represents the division of an empire, which is the entire foundation for the Game of Thrones plot.

Where It’s From: The Malazan World via Steven Erikson’s Malazan Book of the Fallen series.
What It Does: It emanates terror by transporting its victims into a hell-like portal that exists inside the sword itself.
Why It’s Awesome: It’s so heavy because it contains The Gate of Darkness and has all of the dead souls in that realm chained to the sword. In other words, this is Hell in a handheld weapon.

Where It’s From: Once Upon A Time’s fairy tale land. It was later transported to Storybrook after the curse.
What It Does: Controls the Dark One while simultaneously supplying the Dark One with unmatched magical prowess, fortune, and glory.
Why It’s Awesome: Many Once watchers don’t know that this dagger was crafted by Merlin and is comprised of a piece of the legendary Excalibur sword. It can also stop portals and change its owner’s personality.

Where It’s From: Maleficent’s wickedly twisted craftsmanship. This staff can be found in several different Disney universes.
What It Does: Casts spells on unsuspecting teenage girls, creates forests of thorns, emits a creepy lime green glow into the air, allows its owner to magically transform into a fire-breathing dragon, and enables other nightmarish deeds.
Why It’s Awesome: It’s beautiful, but deadly, and it contains the Dark Curse.

What It Does: Controls all dragons on the planet, diminishes demons to dust.
Why It’s Awesome: This innocuous-looking artifact is undoubtedly one of the most powerful creations of all time. It was drenched in the essence of dragons, infused with the blood of Deathwing, and even attached to the terrifying Demon Chain at one point.
