In December 2015, a Minnesota woman got a surprise straight out of a fairy tale when she went to open her Barilla tri-color penne pasta. Hiding in the box was a frog (probably looking for a kiss?). Or really, a dead, petrified frog that was allegedly packaged with the food. Pasta lover Penny Hagen said she had already used one half of the box when her husband knocked it off the shelf, spilling the pasta and the frog on the floor. For their part, Barilla said they were investigating the incident.

In June of 2016, British teenager Sehr Rafique found a dead bat in a box of Rice Crispies. The deceased, winged beastie toppled from the cereal box into a tupperware container amidst a fusilade of crisp breakfast bits, terrifying Rafique.
Kellogg's offered vouchers for free cereal boxes after the family filed a complaint, though, as Rafique told The Telegraph, “That bat was definitely dead, but it has put me off eating Kellog’s ever again." -

Whether he wanted to keep the creepy little guy as a pet or a trophy remains unknown.
