  (#1) Yumichika Ayasegawa

  • Bleach, Bleach: Memories of Nobody, Bleach: The DiamondDust Rebellion, Bleach: Fade to Black

  Yumichika Ayasegawa is a loyal and dedicated member of the Gotei 13 - but he's also really, really into himself, and to aesthetics in general. Once, he couldn't bring himself to fight his own evil clone because the idea of attacking someone so gorgeous was too painful to consider. 

  Depending on which part of Bleach he appears in, Yumichika can appear to be a more complex character whose arrogance covers up deeper insecurities - but at other times, he's there as comic relief.

  (#2) Yuga Aoyama - 'My Hero Academia'

  Yuga Aoyama looks like he was taken out of a '90s shojo anime and plopped into a modern shonen. His quirk allows him to shoot glittery lasers out of his navel, which isn't exactly glamorous considering the fact that the ability can make him seriously sick to his stomach.

  But Yuga's attitude makes up for it. He makes references to his own good looks on the regular, uses roses to emphasize his points, and sprinkles random French into his speech for the sake of 'elegance.'

  Is he adorable? Yes. Is he a lot? Also yes.

  (#3) Major Armstrong - 'Fullmetal Alchemist'

  One doesn't have to be shredded to be good at alchemy, but that doesn't stop Major Armstrong. He takes great pride in his ripped physique, to the point where he once had a flex-off with Sig Curtis, and became friends with him over their shared passion for body buiding.

  Unlike some of the other characters on this list, Armstrong isn't too into himself - he's exactly the right amount.

  Unlike some of the other characters on this list, Deidara isn't obsessed with his own appearance - but he is vain as heck when it comes to his art. Said art consists primarily of clay structures which explode in ways that he finds both aesthetically pleasing and tactically useful.

  Catch him arguing with Sasori about their differing art styles, bragging to his opponents about how much more creatively intelligent he is than they are, or shutting his mouth for the first time ever when he sees Itachi, the only being in the world he thinks is more beautiful than his artwork.

  • Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock, Dragon Ball Z: Bardock – The Father of Goku

  Zarbon is one of Frieza's two top-ranking generals, but he's more focused on his appearance than his career. Not only does he see himself as one of the most beautiful people in the galaxy, he avoids transforming into a far more powerful version of himself because he doesn't think his transformation looks good. He could be worse, though - at least Zarbon isn't so vain that he won't use the transformation when his life depends on it.

  Cavendish is the leader of a group called the Beautiful Pirates, which is apt considering his personality and appearance. Most people consider him to be so lovely that they literally lose consciousness upon seeing him. He appreciates the attention - in fact, he gets supremely agitated if anyone's attention wanders away from him, and can even become violent and combative if he's not being showered with praise. Despite these traits, he can still be a kind and level-headed person when it counts.

  Amai Mask, also known as Sweet Mask, is the #1 Ranked A-Class hero who refuses to move up to S-Class in One Punch Man. Aside from being a powerful hero, he's also a famous model, actor, and singer, essentially making him the most popular celebrity in the world. He's known to have trouble fighting a villain if they are too ugly, as it disgusts him.

  (#8) Kirsch Vermillion - 'Black Clover'

  As a nobleman of the House of Vermillion, Kirsch likes to flaunt his royalty - and his good looks. Even his magical powers are visually pleasing to the eye as he can manipulate and produce cherry blossoms. He tends to look down on those with a lower status than him, often treating them with disgust or dismissing them entirely. But despite his egotism, his powers and skills prove useful as he is a remarkable vice-captain of Coral Peacock, bearing most of the work that his sleeping captain fails to do.

  Suzuki fits this trope so well that his fighting style is literally called Fighting Narcissist. He's so passionate about declaring his own beauty and perfection that he's easily distracted in an actual real battle situation, a fact which his opponents are able to take advantage of during the Dark Tournament. If his subordinates refuse to call him "Beautiful Suzuki" he becomes enraged and violent, destroying everything around him in a fury. 

  Despite this obsession with his looks, he often appears in clown makeup, proving that while he might be arrogant, his aesthetic sensibilities are questionable at best.

  While the 'fighting narcissist' trope tends to skew toward the masculine, there are some female examples. One of those is Asuka Langley Soryu, a young mecha pilot whose overblown pride is a mask for deep insecurities. But the complexity of her character doesn't make it any less noteworthy when she's going on about how beautiful and talented she is, and flying into a rage whenever anything threatens her inflated self-perception.

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, Yu-Gi-Oh!: Bonds Beyond Time

  In a sea of absolutely absurd Yu-Gi-Oh! characters, Jack Atlas is at the top of the list. He's confident about his dueling skills, but he's also obsessed with his appearance. That's why he wears a white trench coat while living in an exploded slum - and somehow manages to keep it spotless. As far as Jack is concerned, he's absolutely perfect, and while he gets a little annoyed at the women trailing around behind him at all times, he also doesn't seem to see any reason why they wouldn't naturally do that.

  (#12) Hotohori - 'Fushigi Yugi'

  If anybody has the right to a little bit of vanity, it's Hotohori, the emperor of Konan. Not only is he literal royalty, he's also a powerful warrior and one of the members of the Suzaku Seven. What's more, by the standards of '90s shojo anime, he's beautiful. Hotohori is extremely cool, and absolutely knows it - he says so explicitly, more than once.

  While his confidence isn't exactly unearned, it does lead him to repeatedly ask Miaka out when he knows she isn't interested - a habit he thankfully drops later in the series.

  (#13) Julius Rayfield - 'Rave Master'

  If you don't want to get on Julius Rayfield's bad side, don't insult his appearance. While he can sometimes appear friendly, he won't hesitate to take the life of anyone who damages his face or prevents him from achieving maximum gorgeousness. Originally part of a terrorist organization called Demon Card, he has since defected and joined the Rave Warriors.

  • Merantau

  Fist of the North Star may have originated this trope with Yuda, a member of the Six Holy Fists of Nanto. Because he believes that he's flawlessly beautiful and therefore superior to everyone else, he feels entitled to betray his comrades and maintain a harem. His arrogance and obsession with beauty is his own undoing because he's easily tricked and distracted when somebody insults his appearance or displays an attack that he finds aesthetically pleasing.

  (#15) Akoya Gero - 'Cute High Earth Defense Club Love!'

  Akoya Gero is a member of the Conquest Club - the primary antagonists of Cute High Earth Defense Club Love! He's often complimented for his angelic appearance, and he takes great pride in it. He loves everything that's beautiful, and turns up his nose at anything that doesn't suit his refined tastes. His transformation, Chevalier Perlie, is even more elegent than Akoya typically is.
