  • Yamask on Random Creepiest Pokemon in the Pokedex

    (#1) Yamask

"Each of them carries a mask that used to be its face when it was human. Sometimes they look at it and cry."

Let's break this one down. This thing used to be human, it is trapped on Earth bearing its own death mask, and it cries when it remembers that it used to be alive. More than anything else, Yamask raises one major question: what the heck even are Pokemon?
  • Phantump on Random Creepiest Pokemon in the Pokedex

    (#2) Phantump

"According to old tales, these Pokémon are stumps possessed by the spirits of children who died while lost in the forest."

Just like Yamask, Phantump was once human. It seems like there is a good chance that people just turn into Ghost-Type Pokemon when they die.
  • Lampent on Random Creepiest Pokemon in the Pokedex

    (#3) Lampent

"The spirits it absorbs fuel its baleful fire. It hangs around hospitals waiting for people to pass on."

Lampert is another little monster of a Pokemon. Apparently, Lampert waits for people to die so that it can descend upon their souls like a miniature grim reaper and then burn them for eternity. Holy crap! One of the relatively common Pokemon is handing out fates worse than death to people unfortunate enough to die near it.
  • Gourgeist on Random Creepiest Pokemon in the Pokedex

    (#4) Gourgeist

"It enwraps its prey in its hairlike arms. It sings joyfully as it observes the suffering of its prey."

If there is one thing to take away from this list, it's that you should never trust the cute things in the Pokeverse. This elongated jack-o-lantern, for instance, just wants to sing happy songs as it watches things suffer. That's some serial killer level creepiness.
  • Drifloon on Random Creepiest Pokemon in the Pokedex

    (#5) Drifloon

"These Pokémon are called the 'Signpost for Wandering Spirits.' Children holding them sometimes vanish."

You read it here, folks. This adorable little purple balloon with a cloud on its head just straight-up kidnaps children and presumably murders them. Wait, the playable characters in the Pokemon games are kids. Are these things trying to kill us?
  • Cofagrigus on Random Creepiest Pokemon in the Pokedex

    (#6) Cofagrigus

"It has been said that they swallow those who get too close and turn them into mummies. They like to eat gold nuggets."

Yep, it's another Pokemon that eats people. Tomb raiding is not a safe profession at the best of times and this guy does not help that matter at all. But does it make any distinction between tomb raiders and actual archaeologists? Maybe archaeology is a really dangerous profession in the Pokeverse too.
  • Cacturne on Random Creepiest Pokemon in the Pokedex

    (#7) Cacturne

"Packs of them follow travelers through the desert until the travelers can no longer move."

Cacturne is a Pokemon that lets us take a break from all of the existential dread of death in the Pokeverse to chill out for a little while and remember that the Pokeverse is a setting where groups of living cacti ambush helpless travelers. Comforting, isn't it?
  • Yveltal on Random Creepiest Pokemon in the Pokedex

    (#8) Yveltal

"When its life comes to an end, it absorbs the life energy of every living thing and turns into a cocoon once more."

You know how Pokemon never really die and only ever get KO'd? Yveltal is a one-Pokemon reason to be grateful for that. When Yveltal dies, it will absorb the life energy of every living thing. To be fair, this might be like Goku's spirit bomb and may not be too harmful. But, for a Poke-avatar of death, that might be wishful thinking.
  • Gorebyss on Random Creepiest Pokemon in the Pokedex

    (#9) Gorebyss

"Although Gorebyss is the very picture of elegance and beauty while swimming, it is also cruel. When it spots prey, this Pokémon inserts its thin mouth into the prey's body and drains the prey of its body fluids."

It's a Poke-vampire. Admittedly, this is probably the last thing one would guess a vampire would look like. Be afraid of the cute Pokemon.
  • Kadabra on Random Creepiest Pokemon in the Pokedex

    (#10) Kadabra

"It happened one morning - a boy with extrasensory powers awoke in bed transformed into Kadabra."

If you believe this unusual Pokedex entry, there's a chance that Kadabras are all human beings with ESP that simply awoke one morning transformed into Pokemon. This Pokedex entry is written differently from most others and isn't reused in later games, which is uncommon.
  • Giratina on Random Creepiest Pokemon in the Pokedex

    (#11) Giratina

"It was banished for its violence. It silently gazed upon the old world from the Distortion World."

Banished to a dark world for an act of violence by the creator of the universe? Giratina is basically Poke-Satan. Pokemon is a setting where you can capture Poke-God and Poke-Satan and make them fight for your amusement.
  • Misdreavus on Random Creepiest Pokemon in the Pokedex

    (#12) Misdreavus

"A Pokémon that startles people in the middle of the night. It gathers fear as its energy."

There are a lot of vampiric Pokemon in the world. When a Pokemon isn't literally burning your soul as fuel for its lamp, it's scaring the heck out of you to eat your fear.
  • Drowzee on Random Creepiest Pokemon in the Pokedex

    (#13) Drowzee

    • Pokémon

"If you think that you had a good dream, but you can't remember it, a Drowzee has probably eaten it."

In the Pokeverse, people forget dreams because Pokemon eat them. It's just a little bit spooky that Drowzee is able to eat people's dream memories and it's even spookier that other Pokedex entries say it prefers the dreams of children.

About This Tool

“Pokémon” has always been “cute and cute”, as a generation of Childhood Memories, the animation is full of all kinds of beautiful feelings and fantasies, as if we are a common fairy tale, who didn’t love having a magic baby when they were little? However, there are some dark sides to fairy tales, like the poisoned apple in Snow White or the Wolf Grandmother in Little Red Riding Hood, but Pokémon also has some scary, thoughtful elves, what do you know about the alternative?

The randomly generated tool collates 13 items and documents some of the Creepier, more classic Pokémon images. You can see Yamask, Phantump, Lampent, Gourgeist, Drifloon, Cofagrigus, and more. They may be ugly on the outside, but most of them are good inside. So we can’t always judge a book by its cover.
