  Starring as Cady Heron, Lindsay Lohan played the new girl in North Shore high school who at first attempts to infiltrate the Plastics only to become seduced by the power of popularity. Cady was just one of the roles that made Lohan a household name in the early '00s - she also starred in Freaky Friday and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. However, three years later she entered rehab for the first time, leading her down a road of highly publicized struggles. In and out of rehab for a few years, Lohan also starred in I Know Who Killed Me and The Canyons. 

  After another stay in rehab in 2013, Lohan filmed a docuseries about her life for OWN. As of 2018, she lives abroad and is set to star in the reality show Lohan Beach Club. The MTV series follows Lohan as she attempts to jumpstart her club on the island of Mykonos, Greece.

  More than just the writer of Mean Girls, Tina Fey also stars as Sharon Norbury, the school's calculus teacher. In the film, Fey delivers fewer of the sharp lines she became known for on Saturday Night Live, but she acts as the moral center and straight man, letting everyone else blow up the movie with their manic energy.

  Since Mean Girl's release in 2004, Fey's kept busy. In 2006 she created and starred in 30 Rock, she co-hosted the Golden Globes with Amy Poehler, and she created Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - and somewhere along the way she also wrote her autobiography Bossypants. 

  In 2018, Fey brought Mean Girls to Broadway and garnered 12 Tony nominations in the process.

  Regina George constitutes the absolute worst of high school politics. As the leader of the Plastics, she makes life a living hell for everyone at North Shore High School, especially after her Burn Book becomes public knowledge.

  In real life, Rachel McAdams is the complete opposite of her nightmare Mean Girls character. In 2015, she donated $75,000 to the Nanny Angel Network for Canada's CIBC Miracle Day. Aside from her charitable demeanor, she's appeared in movies like The Time Traveler's Wife, both Sherlock Holmes movies, Doctor Strange, and Spotlight, for which she received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

  Prior to Mean Girls, Lacey Chabert starred in the long running Fox series Party of Five, but in 2004 she took on the role of Gretchen Wieners, a member of the Plastics who craves validation from Regina George.

  Unfortunately, that was the last major feature film role for Chabert (though she's starred in a number of Hallmark movies since 2014), but she's lent her voice to a ton of animated projects like Justice League Action and Voltron. In November 2018, she told OK! Magazine that even though she couldn't remember the Christmas dance during the filming of Mean Girls, whenever "Jingle Bell Rock" comes on "it makes me think of that moment and how much fun we had filming that."

  As Karen Smith, the most out-of-it member of the Plastics, Amanda Seyfried utters immortal lines like, "If you're from Africa, why are you white?" and, "My breasts can always tell when it's going to rain."

  Since trying fit her whole fist in her mouth, Seyfried has been all over the place. She appeared as Lilly Kane in season one of Veronica Mars, and she starred in Jennifer's Body as well both Mama Mia films. Aside from those films, she's appeared in at least one film a year.

  In 2018, Seyfried told The Morning Call, "Playing Karen was easy. I actually started with the idea of Marilyn Monroe. I tried using that softer voice. And I also thought of the character Thomas Haden Church played on Wings. And I channeled myself the way I was in high school because I’d sometimes play dumb to stay out of different dramas. It was easier for me that way."

  Oh Janis Ian, the only goth at North Shore High School, you're so cool. Janis becomes one of Cady's first friends, and she acts as the audience's primer for the cliques of the school. Also you've got the coldest heart on the planet if you don't tear up when Cady breaks her Spring Fling tiara into multiple pieces and hands one of them to Janis.

  Since Mean Girls, Lizzy Caplan's appeared in everything from cult classics like Party Down to Masters of Sex and magic heist movie Now You See Me 2. Amusingly, she appears in The Disaster Artist as herself. In 2018 she stopped by the Broadway adaptation of Mean Girls and gave the new Janis her approval with some pics.

  As Damien in Mean Girls, Daniel Franzese spends most of his time hanging with Lizzy Caplan's Janis. He sings, he dances, he chucks a shoe at the school talent show. A fan of Danny DeVito's work, he provides the fateful candy canes that crack Gretchen Weiners.

  Since appearing in the film, Franzese pops up all over film and television, guesting on properties like HBO's Looking and ABC's Conviction. In 2018, he told People that playing Damien helped him come out.

  Regina's ex, Aaron Samuels, is such a babe. So much so, in fact, that Cady starts falling behind in calculus just show he can tutor her after school. His sexy teen love provides the catalyst for Cady metaphorically burning down the school when Regina makes out with Aaron at a Halloween party.

  Following Mean Girls, Jonathan Bennett appeared on Dancing with the Stars, hosted Cake Wars, and played Billy the Kid in the final Sharknado movie. Perhaps most importantly, he reprised his role as Aaron in Ariana Grande's "thank u, next" video in late 2018.

  As the mathelete Kevin Gnapoor, Rajiv Surendra definitely plays a character on the bottom of the food chain, but he's definitely too cool to care - which is why he ends up with Janis by the end of the movie.

  Post-movie, Surendra is a respected chalk artist and author of the book The Elephants in My Backyard. When auditions for the titular character in Life of Pi were underway, Surendra tried out, feeling his own upbringing strongly resembled that of Pi. In 2016 he told Architectural Digest, "Since I was a little kid, if I was interested in something I just found a way of doing it, whether it was making pottery in my basement or keeping chickens in my backyard."

  Tim Meadows is easily one of the funniest side players on the planet. From his days at Saturday Night Live to his appearance in Mean Girls, he provides a subtle surrealism to any scene in which he appears. Case in point: when he tells the students to make some noise before telling them to settle down.

  Since appearing in Mean Girls, Meadows has definitely appeared in something you like. He's in The Office, 30 Rock, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Trainwreck (among other things).

  Not a regular mom but a cool mom, June George painfully tries to emulate her queen bee daughter to hilarious results. She acts just like a Plastic, and she even lets her kids drink (as long as they keep it in the house).

  Amy Poehler already existed as a comedic powerhouse prior to Mean Girls, but after the film's release she went on to appear in beloved shows like Parks and Recreation (for which she won a Peabody) and movies such as Baby Mama with comedy partner Tina Fey. Behind the camera, Poehler served as a producer on both Broad City and Difficult People. In addition to her film career, she also started the website Amy Poehler's Smart Girls, a site dedicated to helping creative young women cultivate their work, and wrote a book titled Yes Please.

  As Betsy Heron, Ana Gasteyer has the thankless job of trying to parent a young woman who tries to fit in with the cool girls at school. A research zoologist who spent the last 12 years in Africa with her family, she's now stuck trying to figure out the societal norms of suburban Illinois.

  Like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Tim Meadows, Gasteyer is a Saturday Night Live alum who knows how to shine in a guest spot. If you watch shows like Suburgatory, Younger, or People of Earth then you've seen her work her comedy chops. When Gasteyer takes a break from television, she's on Broadway in shows like First Wives Club.

  Most people know Neil Flynn from Scrubs, but his turn as Cady's dad Chip in Mean Girls shows an entirely different side of the star. Rather than exercising his cutting wit, Flynn shows the depths of his compassion, even when he tries to keep the peace between his daughter and his wife. After spending over a decade as a zoologist in Africa, he's lost on how to be a dad but he does his best.

  The production of Mean Girls fell in the middle of his 166 episodes of Scrubs, so that's mostly what Flynn was doing after the movie was released. After that show ended he continued working on a ton of TV shows; according to Deadline, he's actually appeared on 17 consecutive television seasons as of 2018.

  Remember that guy who got hit in the face with a boom box after the Plastics performed "Jingle House Rock"? That's Jason, Gretchen's boyfriend who needs to go shave his back. He also asks Cady if she wants some butter on her muffin.

  After appearing in Mean Girls, Daniel DeSanto went into voice acting. He's been in tons of cartoons, specifically PAW Patrol and Total Drama.

  It's the Spring Fling King, Shane Oman, himself. While he doesn't have the most prominent part in the film, he does get to tell Regina that Kalteen Bars actually make people gain weight. He's also seeing Regina behind Aaron's back.

  Diego Klattenhoff has had a slow burn of a career, but in 2013 he appeared in Pacific Rim and started a 90-plus episode arc on The Blacklist. When looking back on the scene where Aaron almost catches Shane making out with Regina, Klattenhoff told the Huffington Post that he "kept falling out" of the "funny underwear" the director stuck him in.
