There is no doubt that Ry Cooder is one of the pioneers of rock music. In 1965, he and Taj Mahal, Spirit, and drummer Ed Cassidy formed the Rising Sons band, but the group disbanded because their album was canceled. Later, he played for Randy Newman, Little Feat, Van Dyke Parks, and others.
Cooder's first album is quite impressive, with the style of Sleepy John Estes and Blind Willie Johnson. The second album "Into the Purple Valley" established a more complete musical form and introduced his long-term partners.
