  • The World Needs A Tony Stark And Doctor Strange Movie on Random 'Avengers: Infinity War' Should Have Been Three Different Movies

(#1) The World Needs A Tony Stark And Doctor Strange Movie

When Tony Stark steps into the Sanctum Sanctorum, a major first occurred in the MCU. Until that point the more grounded Marvel characters hadn't really interacted with the magical or cosmic characters, other than Thor and Loki. Stark and Dr. Strange have a fun dynamic in Infinity War, though. Their personalities are similar.

If the tech billionaire and the master of magic had to learn to work together throughout an entire film, there could have been more laughs.

  • Hulk Doesn't Have A Big Enough Role on Random 'Avengers: Infinity War' Should Have Been Three Different Movies

(#2) Hulk Doesn't Have A Big Enough Role

Bruce Banner gets the short end of the stick. Mark Ruffalo is great in Infinity War, but his character spends much of the movie providing exposition to a group of characters before being whisked away to a new location so he can once again provide exposition. He has to explain Thanos over and over.

Some believe Banner is Loki in disguise. Why not focus on this or the fact Banner can't transform into the Hulk?

  • Infinity War Could Be Its Own Trilogy on Random 'Avengers: Infinity War' Should Have Been Three Different Movies

(#3) Infinity War Could Be Its Own Trilogy

It feels strange that the entirety of Infinity War is split into two movies when there's so much story. An incredible amount happens in just under three hours, and it's hard to keep everything straight. The sprawl of the film begs for a series of smaller movies to help the audience cope.

The filmmakers could introduce the characters in the first film, carry out Thanos's plan in the second movie, and take the audience home with the third installment.

  • The Guardians Of The Galaxy Deserve Their Own Film With Thanos on Random 'Avengers: Infinity War' Should Have Been Three Different Movies

(#4) The Guardians Of The Galaxy Deserve Their Own Film With Thanos

The Guardians of the Galaxy and Thanos have a weird relationship to say the least. They've fought each other, they've worked together, and they've fought while working together. Their history could be mined for years of stories.

These two factions get a good amount of screen time in Infinity War, but Marvel could have enriched the storyline by giving Star-Lord and his crew an entire film to deal with the mad god.

  • The Stakes Would Feel More Intense If They Were Adequately Spaced Out on Random 'Avengers: Infinity War' Should Have Been Three Different Movies

(#5) The Stakes Would Feel More Intense If They Were Adequately Spaced Out

By the end of Infinity War, half of the universe is departed, Vision and Wanda's love story is over, and Gamora is dead by her surrogate father's hand. Unfortunately, the emotional weight of these plot points is lessened by the sheer amount of things happening. If there were more movies to really ratchet up the tension, the major moments could have been more fully developed.

For instance, it makes sense when Star-Lord loses it and lashes out at Thanos, dooming the universe. He's been in love with Gamora for years, and the biggest villain in the galaxy just killed her. Star-Lord's decision isn't wise, but it makes sense within his story arc. If the rest of the plot points had been teased out in a similar way, Infinity War could have been more impactful.

  • Thanos Needs His Own Movie on Random 'Avengers: Infinity War' Should Have Been Three Different Movies

(#6) Thanos Needs His Own Movie

Thanos is one of the most interesting characters in Infinity War. He has a fully developed arc, but before the movie, audiences only see him in post-credit sequences. Thanos is a compelling figure with complex emotions, so why doesn't he have an origin story? The mad god isn't one of those villains who work simply because they're so oblique – he needs more screen time.

  • The Action Scenes Would Be Better If There Were Multiple Films on Random 'Avengers: Infinity War' Should Have Been Three Different Movies

(#7) The Action Scenes Would Be Better If There Were Multiple Films

Because Infinity War attempts to do so much, the action sequences all seem rather bland. In fact, some reviewers suggest the shaky camera the Russo brothers employ "to match the frenetic motion on camera" masks fairly boring action sequences. If the directors had more time to actually keep the camera still and film legitimately cool action sequences, these sections would be so much more compelling.

  • Cap Doesn't Have Enough Time In Wakanda on Random 'Avengers: Infinity War' Should Have Been Three Different Movies

(#8) Cap Doesn't Have Enough Time In Wakanda

What happens in Wakanda during Infinity War? There is definitely a fight of some kind, and Shuri does some science, but it's hard to keep track while the scenes speed by. Indeed, it's odd the relationship between T'Challa and Steve Rogers is so downplayed; they're both popular heroes.

After disappearing following the events of Civil War, Cap could've reminded the audience about his plight and given more emotional weight to his role in the film.

  • The Cosmic Characters Should Have Their Own Movie on Random 'Avengers: Infinity War' Should Have Been Three Different Movies

(#9) The Cosmic Characters Should Have Their Own Movie

One of the most enjoyable sections of Infinity War happens at the very beginning, when Thor finds himself with the Guardians of the Galaxy. His playful banter and Peter Quill's jealousy is spectacular; the narrative could focus on this group for an entire movie.

By following the more cosmic members of the MCU as they work with Thor, Gamora's backstory with Thanos could have been explored in more detail, making her eventual death all the more powerful.

  • The Scenes Feel Rushed on Random 'Avengers: Infinity War' Should Have Been Three Different Movies

    (#10) The Scenes Feel Rushed

There's a lot going on in Infinity War, and the storylines are somewhat rushed. In most Hollywood features there are two, maybe three, storylines that coalesce by the end of the film. Infinity War has about seven storylines, and the characters are jumbled up until the devastating finale.

Thanos's plot is fleshed out, but only because he's in almost every other section of the film. Other characters who demand an emotional connection from the audience – Vision and Wanda, for instance – are barely in the film, making their very dramatic story feel anchorless. By putting some of these occurrences into different movies, Marvel could have told a more nuanced story.

  • Planet Earth Should Be Featured More Prominently on Random 'Avengers: Infinity War' Should Have Been Three Different Movies

(#11) Planet Earth Should Be Featured More Prominently

It's odd how little time the Infinity War characters spend on Earth. Much of the final fight takes place in Wakanda, but that's always been treated as an otherworldly location. Some of the most interesting pieces of the film occur in New York City, specifically when Peter Parker first sees Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian arrive.

It would have been fascinating to see how people dealt with the alien invasion, even if it was just for a few more minutes. If the film had more Earth scenes, characters like Hawkeye and Ant-Man could have had real roles in MCU release.

  • The Character Deaths Should Occur In A Different Movie on Random 'Avengers: Infinity War' Should Have Been Three Different Movies

(#12) The Character Deaths Should Occur In A Different Movie

Spoiler alert: a lot of popular MCU characters die at the end of Infinity War. Thanos completes the Infinity Gauntlet and wishes half of the universe's population out of existence. However, that tension can barely be sustained until the credits, since audiences know at least a few of the dead characters are due back for sequels.

Plus, they all expire right before the film cuts to black. It would have been more interesting if the deaths occurred earlier in the film, giving the survivors time to grieve.

  • There Are Way Too Many Characters on Random 'Avengers: Infinity War' Should Have Been Three Different Movies

(#13) There Are Way Too Many Characters

There are way too many characters in the film. The massive ensemble is a bit bloated and hard to follow. It would still be a lot to take in if the characters were split into two (or three) narratively fulfilling films before piling them into Infinity War.
