(#1) Whitebeard Dies Standing Up In 'One Piece'
After a dramatic showdown with Blackbeard, Whitebeard ultimately succumbs to the injuries accrued both from Blackbeard himself and from being pummeled by bullets, blades, cannonballs and fire by Blackbeard's crew. He holds out long enough for his crew to get away with Luffy, and deliver a dramatic speech that not only confirms the existence of the One Piece, but also makes it clear that Blackbeard isn't worthy of it. Despite being unmatched, he doesn't run away - he shows his unscarred back to prove that he's never gotten a single injury from running way, then expires on his feet.

(#2) Zabuza Momochi

There are actually a ton of moments like this one in Naruto, so we'll start with the one that started it all - Zabuza Momochi's last moments. The guy has his work cut out for him. He's already totally exhausted, he has to fight off a a mob of mercenaries, and his arms are too badly injured to use. Most people would just give up, but Zabuza decides to keep on fighting with a kunai in his mouth. Why? Because he's a freakin' badass, that's why.
But Zabuza's moments aren't just awesome - he also has a touching moment with Haku just before he passes away that made a lot of viewers sob. There's glory in that, too.

- Cowboy Bebop, Cowboy Bebop: The Movie
After single-handedly taking down the entire Red Dragon Syndicate and having a final clash with his former friend Vicious, Spike seemingly passes away on the grounds with one final word and gesture - finger gun with the word "bang." It's one of the most memorable moments in anime history.

(#4) Isaac Netero Self-Destructs In 'Hunter x Hunter'
After realizing that there was no way he could possibly defeat the king of the Chimera Ants, Isaac Netero decides to take drastic measures. He detonates a bomb called the Poor Man's Rose that was housed inside of his body. It has the power to not only tear Netero apart, but to severely wound Meruem. While the bomb itself isn't enough to end Meruem's life, the bomb also contains a lethal, contagious poison that ultimately destroys him.

(#5) Erwin Smith
Despite having little chance of defeating the Beast Titan, Erwin Smith doesn't want his troops to give up in despair. In order to distract him while Levi comes after him from the back, Erwin gives one of the most inspiring speeches in anime history, then leads his troupes to charge forward even as they're pelted with boulders.
Even when Erwin is taken down partway through the siege, the rest of his troops are so inspired that they keep going anyway, tears streaming down their eyes.

Just because the deaths usually aren't permanent in DBZ doesn't mean that they lack impact. DBZ actually has a number of awesome moments where characters get to show what they're made of before they pass away. For now, lets focus on an incredible moment featuring Vegeta.
In order to destroy Majin Buu, Vegeta decides to sacrifice himself with Final Explosion. Before he does, he hugs his son for the first time, then accepts it when Piccolo tells him that he'll probably have to go to Hell for all the awful things he's done, unlike Goku who is a hero. With a major character turning point under his belt, he unleashes one of his most powerful attacks yet. Sadly, it's not enough to take down Buu.

(#7) Greed
- Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Up until the end of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Greed was more or less on board with helping Father achieve godhood. Not because he really cared, but because it's what he was made to do. But after getting closer to Ling and changing his perspective on a lot of things, he ended up being instrumental in defeating Father.
When Father tried to absorb Greed into his body as a power boost, Greed went willingly - if he didn't, Ling would have passed away. But the chemical changes that Greed causes in Father's body makes him brittle enough to be wrecked by Ed's punch during the all-out brawl taking place around them. Greed started out a villain, and ended up a hero.

(#8) Lelouch Lamperouge
- Code Geass
Lelouch Lamperouge needed a villain for the populace to mutually hate and unite in the desire to destroy. He also needed his alter-ego, Zero, to look like a hero as he led them towards ultimate peace. To do that, he made himself look like a cruel despot, then had his friend Suzaku dress up like Zero and take his life in a showy public display. The fact that he was willing to make such a massive sacrifice combined with the drama of the scene, makes this one of anime's most glorious final moments.

- Gurren Lagann
In order to defeat the Beastman General, an already badly wounded Kamina combines with Simon to execute the powerful Giga Drill Breaker. While they do successfully defeat their enemy, it's a bit too late for Kamina - the injuries spell the end of his life before he can even get out of the cockpit. But before all this, he's able to offer some seriously inspiring last words that will inspire him - and the audience - for years to come.

(#10) Jonathan Joestar
- JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
As Jonathan Joestar takes a ship to America with his betrothed Erina, he thinks that he's finally dealt with his dangerous adopted brother Dio Brando. It turns out that Dio and his henchmen are actually aboard the ship, and that Dio plans to take over Jonathan's body. Dio almost succeeds - he stabs Jonathan in the throat and nearly takes him out - but Jonathan prevails. He uses his last ounce of Hamon power to blow up the boat, and stabs Dio with a piece of shrapnel that he tore from his own back in order to give Erina time to escape. He passes away, content that his beloved will survive, and holding the evil man he once considered a brother in his arms.

(#11) Wizardmon Leaps In Front Of Myotismon's Attack In 'Digimon'
During a long battle against Myotismon, Wizardmon fought alongside the Digidestined and their partners, helping out Lillymon and throwing Gatomon and Kari the tag and crest they needed for Gatomon to evolve. When Myotismon aimed an attack at Kari and Gatomon, Wizardmon lept in front of them, taking what turned out to be a fatal attack.
After taking a moment to grieve what was probably the saddest moment in Digimon so far, Gatomon Digivolves into Angewomon and destroys Myotismon.

(#12) Yusuke Urameshi
- Yu Yu Hakusho
Most blazing moments of glory don't take place in the first episode of the series, but Yu Yu Hakusho is different. Yusuke Urameshi is a juvenile delinquent who nobody ever expected to do anything self-sacrificial - but in the first episode of the show, he leaps in front of an oncoming car to save a little boy from getting hit. His life comes to an end in an instant.
Because it was so unexpected that not even the people in charge of the afterlife expected it, Yusuke gets a chance to get his life back if he works as a Spirit Detective.

(#13) Mikazuki & Akihiro Fight Until the End In 'Iron Blooded Orphans'
In order to give the rest of Tekkadan a chance to escape their enemies, Mikazuki and Akihiro decide to continue to fight rather than attempt to flee themselves. After barely surviving an onslaught from Dainsleif rail cannons, they manage to gain the upper hand against Gjallarhorn. Akihiro avenges Naze, Amida, and Lafter by wrecking the cockpit of Iok Kujan's Gundam, destroying him in the process. He passes away soon afterwards. Meanwhile, Mikazuki nearly annihilates Julieta, but bleeds out before he gets the chance.

(#14) Yuzuru Otonashi
- Angel Beats!
This example isn't about a frenzied battle - rather, it's a quieter example of glory. When Yuzuru Otonashi gets into a train accident that leaves him and all of the other passengers trapped for days, he uses what little medical training he has to treat wounds and keep people comfortable as they wait to be rescued - often at the expense of his own energy while he desperately tried to survive himself. Ultimately, he doesn't make it - but his last act, filling out a card to become an organ donor, means that Kanade receives a new heart, and a much needed extension on her life.

- Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Puella Magi Madoka Magica
After going through life feeling responsible for a whole lot of suffering, Kyoko Sakura sacrifices herself in order to destroy Oktavia, the dangerous witch form of her friend Sayaka. She does this both so that she can finally feel like she's helping somebody, and so that Sayaka won't have to leave the world alone. It's a tough moment in a series that's generally pretty heartbreaking, but it's also a moment where Kyoko gets to show off what she's truly made of.
