(#1) Draco Malfoy
- Fictional Character
Draco Malfoy's wife, Astoria, perished before their son Scorpius started his third year at Hogwarts. In the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Part 2, Draco explains what happened to her:
We were capable of having children, but Astoria was frail. A blood malediction, a serious one. An ancestor was cursed... it showed up in her. You know how these things can resurface after generations...
They did have a child, but the pregnancy "weakened Astoria considerably."

(#2) The Malfoys Have Heavily Influenced Minister For Magic Elections, But No Family Member Has Held That Role
Due to the Malfoys' wealth, they've had the necessary financial influence to steer election campaigns. Still, no Malfoy has ever held the top job at the Ministry of Magic.
That hasn't stopped the family from financing its preferred Minister for Magic hopefuls, and they have allegedly hexed wizards running against their endorsed candidates.

(#3) Malfoys Don't Marry Their Cousins Like Other Pure-Blood Fanatics
Although the Malfoys are fanatics for pure-blood supremacy, they don't resort to marrying their own relatives, which the Gaunt family and others have done because so few pure-blood families remain to marry into.
The Malfoys have avoided inbreeding because they believe that children born of such unions can "become enfeebled or unstable."

(#4) Nicholas Malfoy Took The Lives Of Muggles And Claimed They Had Perished From The Black Death
Nicholas Malfoy, who lived during the 14th century, was a noted hater of Muggles. He killed many of his Muggle tenants but made it appear as if they had perished due to the Black Death.
The Wizards' Council didn't prosecute Nicholas, however, and he never paid for his misdeeds.

(#5) There Are Half-Bloods In The Family
The Malfoys make it appear as if they come from a line of pure-bloods, but half-bloods have been part of their family as well. Apparently, before the Statute of Secrecy was enacted in 1692, the Malfoys amassed a good part of their fortune via relationships with wealthy non-wizards, acquiring Muggle money, property, artwork, and other assets.
After the Statute of Secrecy became law, however, Muggles were shunned and were no longer viewed as a potential source of power. So the Malfoys denied any relationships, including marital ones, with Muggles, and after that no longer married Muggles or Muggle-born wizards.
This means their claim of being part of the Sacred Twenty-Eight isn't true because they're not a fully pure-blood family.

(#6) One Source Of The Malfoys' Riches Was Muggle Money
Despite the current hatred of Muggles by the more recent generation of Malfoys, the family's wealth was possible in part because of their ancestors' use of Muggle money. The earlier Malfoys successfully dabbled in Muggle currency and assets to become rich, and that wealth was handed down through the generations.
The Malfoys also acquired a great deal of property in Wiltshire by annexing their Muggle neighbors' lands.

(#7) Narcissa Malfoy
- Fictional Character
Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy escaped being sent to Azkaban after Voldemort's defeat in part due to Narcissa's lie in the forest about Harry being dead when he was actually still alive.
J.K. Rowling said in a 2007 online Bloomsbury.com chat:
The Malfoys weaseled their way out of trouble (again) due to the fact that they colluded (albeit out of self-interest) with Harry at the end of the battle.
Also, Lucius Malfoy "evaded prison by providing evidence against fellow Death Eaters."
-
(#8) The Malfoys Initially Opposed The Statute Of Secrecy
The Statute of Secrecy, passed in 1692, forced wizards to distance themselves from Muggles to avoid persecution by non-wizards. The Malfoys were at first adamantly against this law, because they liked mixing with Muggle aristocracy and didn't want to give up the wealth and favors they earned from these relationships.
When power shifted to the Ministry of Magic, however, the Malfoys did an about-face. They shifted their attempts at currying favor instead to Ministry members.
-
(#9) Lucius Malfoy
- Fictional Character
The Lucius Malfoy seen in the Harry Potter series was named after another Lucius from a previous generation. The first Lucius didn't seem to mind marrying a Muggle - especially one with significant influence. Though later generations denied it, the first Lucius tried to court Queen Elizabeth I, but was rejected.
As part of his contempt for Elizabeth, the first Lucius allegedly left a jinx on her that resulted in her never marrying.
-
(#10) Draco Malfoy's Parents Were Against His Marriage To Astoria
As an adult, Draco Malfoy turned over a new leaf and didn't care as much about blood purity. Although he still married a pure-blood witch named Astoria Greengrass, she was hardly the type his parents preferred.
Astoria didn't respect pure-blood fanaticism and refused to call Muggles "scum," which Draco's parents didn't approve of.
-
(#11) Armand Malfoy Acquired Land From King William I
Armand Malfoy, the first ancestor known in the Malfoy family, was part of William the Conquerer's Norman army and likely used his magical abilities to help William seize land.
In return, William gave Armand land that would later be the site for Malfoy Manor, which the family continued to occupy for 10 centuries.
-
(#12) The Family's Motto Is All About Blood Purity
The Malfoy family crest bears the words Sanctimonia Vincet Semper, which translates to "Purity Will Always Conquer."
They were so extreme about the importance of pure-blood heritage that they ended up inscribing it as their official motto.
-
(#13) Abraxas Malfoy Was Part Of A Plot That Caused The Muggle-Born Minister For Magic To Leave
Nobby Leach was the first-ever Muggle-born Minister for Magic, starting in 1962, but he left the position in 1968, supposedly because of a mysterious illness.
It's widely believed that Abraxas Malfoy, Lucius's father, was involved in a plot to force out Leach.
-
(#14) Septimus Malfoy, The 'Adviser' To Minister For Magic Unctuous Osbert, Likely Made The Leader His Puppet
Septimus Malfoy, active in the 18th century, was an adviser to Minister for Magic Unctuous Osbert. Septimus didn't have an official position in the government, however, and seemed to have a strange hold over Osbert.
Many believe that Septimus used Osbert as his puppet and was effectively the Minister.
