    In the caravan bound for the Wall, Arya and her friends are attacked by men who wish to kill Gendry, her companion and the bastard of Robert Baratheon. During the battle, Arya frees a mysterious man named Jaqen H'ghar.

    After almost starving in the desert of the Red Waste, Daenerys and her remaining Dothraki entourage arrive at the city of Qarth. The Qartheen people are at first reluctant to believe that she is the Mother of Dragons, but she is eventually let into the city by a friendly member of their council.

    Littlefinger meets with Catelyn Stark and proposes she trade Jaime Lannister for her daughters.

    Meanwhile, Melisandre gives birth to Stannis's son, a shadowy smoke creature.

    In Harrenhal, Arya once again meets with Jaqen H'ghar, the man she freed from captivity. He promises to kill three men for her, one for each of the lives she saved. He demonstrates this by killing the first man on her list, a torturer called "The Tickler."

    The Night's Watch comes across a group of wildlings, killing all of them except for a woman named Ygritte, who escapes. Jon Snow separates himself from the group to recapture her.

    In King's Landing, Joffrey is hit in the face with manure while walking through the city, sparking a riot. Sansa is attacked and nearly raped, but is saved by The Hound.

    Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys finds that her men have been murdered and her dragons have been stolen by a mysterious figure.

    In Qarth, Dany investigates what has happened to her dragons, and finds that they were stolen by a warlock named Pyat Pree.

    In Winterfell, Theon finds that Bran, Rickon, Osha, and Hodor have escaped. He orders his men to investigate, and after a long search, reveals to the citizens of Winterfell what he claims to be the charred remains of the two Stark boys, saying he killed them, rather than admit they escaped.

    Tyrion prepares King's Landing for Stannis Baratheon's attack, while Joffrey continues to act foolish. Beyond the Wall, Jon Snow has been captured by wildlings and decides to act as a spy for the Night's Watch by pretending to betray them to earn the wildlings' trust.

    Theon's decision to kill the Stark boys causes his father and sister to abandon him in Winterfell. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Bran and Rickon are actually alive. Theon had murdered and burned two farmer's children when he couldn't find the Starks.

    As Stannis's fleet heads toward King's Landing, Cersei and her children are hidden away with the rest of the Lannisters and other noble women, including Sansa stark. If the city is taken, Cersei plans to take a deadly poison.

    Meanwhile, Tyrion sends a single unmanned ship toward Stannis's fleet. At the last second, Davos realizes it's a trap but it is too late. Bronn lights the ship on fire, igniting the wildfire inside and destroying half of Stannis's army. Despite this, Stannis continues to attempt to take the city. His men are attacked by Tyrion's army on the beach. Tyrion is wounded by his own men, but is saved by his squire Podrick. At the last minute, Tywin Lannister and the Tyrells ride in and save the day as Stannis escapes, defeated.

In Winterfell, Theon is betrayed by his own men and the castle is burned to the ground.

    Jaqen and Arya successfully escaped Harrenhal. Before changing his face and leaving, Jaqen gives Arya a rare coin, teaching her the phrase "valar morghulis," which means, "all men must die." Beyond the wall, the Night's Watch is attacked by white walkers.

Game of Thrones Season 2 is based on the second A Clash of Kings of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. It was broadcasted on HBO from April to June 2012.
