He's also wildly jealous of his cousin Yuki, envying the latter's favored position within their family. But due to his Arien self-centeredness, he doesn't realize how much Yuki suffers from that position. 

  But Kyo also channels positive Aries vibes. He's a passionate person who is devoted to those that he cares for, and who refuses to give up no matter how long the odds.

  Most of the time, Kagura is a friendly and vivacious young lady, but when her passionate feelings for Kyo turn her into a violent and possessive person. She takes the signs' versatility to its utmost extreme.

  When astrology aficionados think of confident, flamboyant people with attitude, they usually think of Leos. When Fruits Basket fans think of characters with those attributes, they're probably thinking about Ayame Sohma, Yuki's eccentric older brother. Ayame runs a store that sells fetish clothing, speaks in a bombastic sing-song voice, and has the confidence and swagger that characterizes this fire sign. 

  But Ayame also has some negative Leo traits. His confidence can tip over into arrogance, and he is often oblivious to other peoples' feelings, which leads to hurting others inadvertently.

  (#6) Yuki Sohma

  Like most Virgos, Yuki Sohma has high standards for himself and for others. He gets good grades, dresses stylishly, and generally carries himself in the way one might expect from the sign. He expects that same from others and gets frustrated when they don't measure up - especially when it comes to people he envies, like Kyo.

  Why does he envy Kyo? That comes from his zodiac sign. Virgos aren't just critical of others - they also go hard on themselves. Hiro has a highly specific idea of what constitutes fairness and justice, but that sense is calibrated to benefit himself - which leads to somewhat spoiled behavior. Every Scorpio is hiding something a little different, but it's common for the sign to keep secrets. It's also common for them to be jealous, manipulative, and even vengeful. 

  If you're not up to date on the manga, you may not realize that Shigure is all of those things. Without giving too much away, he is trying to use Tohru for a very specific purpose - and he doesn't care what it costs.

  Sagittarius is a sign that's known for its honest, open-minded approach to life, and its adventurous spirit. Arisa Uotani, one of Tohru Honda's best friends, is a strong example of these traits. In middle school, Uotani was a gang member who got little joy out of anything besides causing mayhem. But when she met Tohru and her mother, she discovered that there was more to life, and decided to change herself completely - not something that any sign would be capable of. Besides that, she's encouraging to her friends, while being honest about their faults.

  On the more negative side, Uotani displays the fire sign's tendency to be argumentative and reckless - part of what might have led her to the gang life in the first place.

  Above all, Capricorns value structure, long term planning, and hard work. They're willing to make short term sacrifices in favor of long term goals, and they're able to keep a multitude of seemingly disparate moving parts up in the air. Out of everyone in the world of Fruits Basket, this description fits Hatori Sohma the best. 

  Hatori is a doctor whose job primary job involves attending to his family's various ills. To keep on top of his demanding job, he needs to be devoted, organized, and hardworking. Because he's so focused on the job - and because of traumatic experiences in his past - Hatori can sometimes come across as cold or even cruel. Many Capricorns are accused of the same.

  Momiji is an eccentric, friendly person who marches to the beat of his own drum. That makes him a great example of an Aquarius, the 11th sign in the zodiac cycle. Aquarians are unique people who are always coming up with new and exciting ideas. They're excellent at communication, especially when it comes to managing groups. Momiji demonstrates this when he arranges for his family and friends to go on vacation, and when he balances complex emotional problems involving his mother.

  Unfortunately, Momiji also exhibits a few of the signs' more negative traits - he's not always in touch with other peoples' feelings, and he can sometimes make irrational decisions that cause trouble for others.

  If Fruits Basket has a main villain, it's Akito Sohma, the deeply unsettling head of the family. So far, much of Akito's backstory - and what makes them a nearly flawless representation of Pisces' more negative traits - remains unknown outside the manga, so be prepared for a few spoilers.

  Pisceans at their worst are clingy, self-destructive people who operate out of a deep sense of self-pity. They can be so enmeshed in fantasy that they can't distinguish it from reality. This all applies to Akito, who is convinced that because of their status as the family "god," every other member of the family needs to dedicate their entire lives to them - and experience violent consequences if they don't. But underneath the angry, controlling behavior lies a well of suffering and sadness - one that can only be healed by the people they cling to. Or, at least, that's what Akito believes.

  Not all Pisceans are like this - many are just creative folks who are in touch with their own emotions. Akito is an example of Pisces taken to its most negative extreme.
