  • Why Darth Vader Reacted The Way He Did At Obi-wan Disappearing Into A Robe on Random Darth Vader Fan Theories That Actually Make A Lot Of Sense

(#1) Why Darth Vader Reacted The Way He Did At Obi-wan Disappearing Into A Robe

    Source: Redditor u/mybustersword

Details: In one of the most important scenes from the original Star Wars, Vader kills Obi-Wan by slicing through him with his lightsaber. When the old Jedi dies, he vanishes, leaving behind his robe and lightsaber, which pushes Vader to feel around with the clothes using his boot.

It's a curious thing for the Sith Lord to do, and the audience had to wonder why he was so shocked that killing a Jedi resulted in such a transformation.

He must have been aware of the possibility of becoming one with the Force, but he had always considered it a myth. This is the first time Anakin has ever seen such a thing happen, and it confused and surprised him. It goes back to what Palpatine told him before he embraced the Dark Side, where he told him that eternal life was possible through the Force. This turns out to be a significant turning point for Vader, and from this point forward, his actions were driven from this moment, which ultimately led him back to the Light Side of the Force.

  • Darth Vader Taunted Luke To Trigger Feelings He Could Zero In On on Random Darth Vader Fan Theories That Actually Make A Lot Of Sense

(#2) Darth Vader Taunted Luke To Trigger Feelings He Could Zero In On

    Source: Redditor u/wtFM100

Details: When Luke and Vader get to fighting in front of the Emperor in his throne room aboard the Death Star, Vader taunts Luke. He says things he knows will get a rise out of his son, and he does this for the simple reason of being able to sense his location.

He isn't able to read Luke's thoughts, but he can read his emotions, as they are more closely tied to one's connection with the Force. He says things like, "Your thoughts betray them too. Especially for... sister." When Luke hears this, he immediately becomes enraged, which tells Vader exactly where he was. Luke ran out of hiding, and Vader knew where he was, which made it possible for him to block his attacks (at first).

  • The Reason Darth Vader Seems So Uncharacteristically Angry At The Beginning Of A New Hope on Random Darth Vader Fan Theories That Actually Make A Lot Of Sense

(#3) The Reason Darth Vader Seems So Uncharacteristically Angry At The Beginning Of A New Hope

    Source: Redditor u/stormtrooper1701

Details: Typically, when you see Darth Vader on screen, he's a cool and collected person. He rarely raises his voice, and he lets his visage and indomitable will induce fear into the people around him. That wasn't the case when he first showed up onboard the Tantavie IV, and there may be a reason for it.

After Rogue One came out, the reason for his anger became perfectly clear. He had just chased the Death Star plans to that very vessel, so he knew with 100% certainty that it wasn't simply a "consular ship on a diplomatic mission." He was p*ssed that they tried to lie about something that had happened, not 10 minutes before we first see him on the ship.

It makes perfect sense that he wouldn't be willing to put up with any of the crap they tried to sell him. That includes both the captain and Princess Leia, who was absolutely a traitor and a spy... from Darth Vader's point of view.

  • Darth Vader Stopped The Stormtroopers From Shooting C-3P0, Not Chewbacca on Random Darth Vader Fan Theories That Actually Make A Lot Of Sense

(#4) Darth Vader Stopped The Stormtroopers From Shooting C-3P0, Not Chewbacca

    Source: Redditor u/mybustersword

Details: In The Empire Strikes Back, right before Han is going to be frozen in Carbonite, Chewbacca goes comepletely ape, and throws off three Stormtroopers, so he could aim his weapon at Darth Vader. Just before he can make the shot, Vader lowers a nearby Trooper's arm to keep him from shooting Chewie -- at least, that's what it looks like.

This theory says that he wasn't stopping the Stormtrooper from shooting Chewie so much as he was making sure C-3PO wouldn't be hit accidentally. At the time, Chewie was carrying a dismantled, but still active C-3PO on his back, and the memory of building the robot during his childhood caused Vader to protect him.

It's an interesting theory, and certainly a plausible one, as Vader showed no interest in saving the lives of anyone who opposed him. He froze Han to test the Carbonite freezing process, and he had no connection to the Wookie. There really wasn't any reason to stay the Stormtrooper's hand other than to save 3PO from certain destruction.

  • A Primary Factor In Vader Turning Good And Killing Palpatine Is When He Realizes That Leia Was His Daughter on Random Darth Vader Fan Theories That Actually Make A Lot Of Sense

(#5) A Primary Factor In Vader Turning Good And Killing Palpatine Is When He Realizes That Leia Was His Daughter

    Source: Redditor u/REdd06 and u/Doctor-Shatda-Fackup

Details: There has been a lot of talk over the years as to how Vader was able to sense Luke, but he wasn't able to do the same when it came to Leia, whom he tortured early in the first film. Granted, he wasn't calm or collected when it came to battling his son, and he even chopped his hand off, but what about Leia.

It seems unlikely that Vader wouldn't know Leia was his daughter, but if he didn't know it in the beginning, he did know it in Return of the Jedi. Vader has been angry with Palpatine for 17 years at this point, and when he finally did learn of Leia's connection to him in the Throne Room, he let his anger and pain come to the surface, which finally enabled him to confront his master and kill him in the process.

Essentially, he was filled with rage at the fact that Palpatine had lied to him about the survival of his child (which turned out to be two children), and the guilt he felt over realizing he had tortured his own daughter. It was too much for Anakin to hold in, and he rage-quit his job by flinging his boss off a platform.

  • The Sith Created Anakin Skywalker As Well As Darth Vader on Random Darth Vader Fan Theories That Actually Make A Lot Of Sense

(#6) The Sith Created Anakin Skywalker As Well As Darth Vader

    Source: Redditor u/Omni314

Details: The theory that the Sith purposefully created Anakin Skywalker, and thus, Darth Vader has been around for some time, and many consider it to be true. In Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine is discussing the legend of Darth Plagueis with Anakin, where he says, "...he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life."

When you consider the words of Anakin's mother from The Phantom Menace, where she said, "There was no father. I carried him. I gave birth. I raised him. I can't explain what happened," it seems obvious that Anakin was the creation of the Sith.

  • Each Of The Prequels' Villains Represents A Part Of Anakin's Character That He Loses During His Fall To The Dark Side on Random Darth Vader Fan Theories That Actually Make A Lot Of Sense

(#7) Each Of The Prequels' Villains Represents A Part Of Anakin's Character That He Loses During His Fall To The Dark Side

    Source: Redditor u/-TracerBullet

Details: This is an interesting theory that posits the enemies that go up against Anakin and his allies throughout the prequel trilogy each represents a choice he made on his path to the Dark Side of the Force.

    • In Episode I, Anakin is seemingly freed from slavery, but in actuality, he gives up his moral agency to the Jedi Order. This is reflected by Darth Maul, who is wholly subservient to his master.
    • 10 years later, Anakin begins to reject the Jedi Code. He gives into passion and power over honour and order. This is reflected by the fallen Jedi, Count Dooku.
    • Finally, in Episode III, Anakin loses his humanity, slaughtering hundreds, even within his own order. This is reflected by the ruthless cyborg, General Grievous.

When you consider each enemy on their own, it seems entirely plausible that this is the case -- especially when you consider the way George Lucas likes to balance his writing when it comes to Star Wars.

  • The Lightsaber Fight Between Obi-Wan And Darth Vader Was Merely A Formality on Random Darth Vader Fan Theories That Actually Make A Lot Of Sense

(#8) The Lightsaber Fight Between Obi-Wan And Darth Vader Was Merely A Formality

    Source: Redditor u/pgibso

Details: After all the Star Wars films that have come and gone, there have been a lot of incredible lightsaber battles. The one between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi from Revenge of the Sith is one of the greatest of all time, which makes their final battle on the Death Star seem rather odd.

They just bat their swords about without really trying to hurt one another, and it's a stark contrast to the fights seen in later movies. On the one hand, it was due to the fact that the actors were rather constrained by age and the complexities of a mask, but this theory doesn't delve into that aspect; rather, it indicates that their battle was merely a means to an end.

That end was a conversation. They met for the first time in a long time, and that meant that they had to spar with words rather than swords, so their battle was never going to be as epic as their last confrontation.

Incidentally, there is a reimagined version of this fight that does work out more like the ones in the subsequent films. It uses camera trickery and CGI to merge the cut of the film with new footage, and it's done very well. You can check it out here.

(#9) The "Tremor In The Force" That Darth Vader Feels Didn't Come From Obi-wan

    Source: Redditor u/Supervinyl

Details: One thing that is made clear in the first film is that people who are powerful with the Force can feel others like them when they are near, or when there is a tremor like the one Obi-Wan felt when Alderan was destroyed.

When Darth Vader is talking to Tarkin, he says, "A tremor in the Force. The last time I felt it was in the presence of my old master." The audience is then left to assume he was referring to Obi-Wan Kenobi, which is a fair assumption, seeing as he mentioned him.

This theory posits that the tremor was not caused by Obi-Wan, at least, not entirely. The tremor Darth Vader felt at that moment came from being in close proximity to his children, and in this case, it was both Luke and Leia.

Going back to what he said, the tremor was felt the last time he was in the presence of his old master, but he doesn't indicate that it came from Obi-Wan, or that he always felt it when he was near him. The theory suggests that it was the birth of his twins he felt the last time he was near Obi-Wan, and he was feeling that tremor once more, now that both twins were in the same place.

  • Darth Vader Has Multiple Suits on Random Darth Vader Fan Theories That Actually Make A Lot Of Sense

(#10) Darth Vader Has Multiple Suits

    Source: Redditor u/heydo_hew

Details: It's easy to see Darth Vader and assume he wears the same suit all the time. It barely changes throughout the franchise, making this more plausible. There are some minor alterations the costume department made when they had more money to work with, but overall, he wears the same thing all the time.

It's clear he must change into a new suit everyone once in a while, but we never really see it. This theory suggests that he does, in fact, have multiple suits, and what we are seeing is the equivalent of a guy wearing the same type of clothes all the time, where they only have slight differences.

In Rogue One, he was seen not wearing it all the time, and his helmet was on somewhat loosely. The theory further suggests that he must have thrown it on in a hurry, which helps support the idea that the man has more than one suit in his closet.

  • Why Darth Vader's 'NOOOOOOO' Makes Perfect Sense on Random Darth Vader Fan Theories That Actually Make A Lot Of Sense

(#11) Why Darth Vader's 'NOOOOOOO' Makes Perfect Sense

    Source: Redditor u/spikesya

Details: There have been a ton of fans online who have mocked the utterance of "NOOOOOOOOOOOO," at the end of Revenge of the Sith. It seemed to be out of character, and somewhat cheesy, but this theory explains that it made perfect sense for him to cry out like that.

The theory suggests that Anakin was so badly damaged by the fire; he could no longer speak properly. His voice sounds so different because it is created via a computer in much the same way Professor Stephen Hawkin was able to speak through his.

It translates what he would say without his helmet on, and the words come out. So, after awakening to the realization that his body is destroyed and he must remain a slave to his suit (and, by extension, the Emperor), his wife and "unborn" child are dead, and his whole world has been destroyed, he lets out a bloodcurdling scream.

The computer that processes his vocal intent couldn't properly translate the epic range of despair and anger he felt, so it did all it could and let out a single, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

  • Darth Vader Planned Several Things To Say During His First Encounter With Obi-Wan on Random Darth Vader Fan Theories That Actually Make A Lot Of Sense

(#12) Darth Vader Planned Several Things To Say During His First Encounter With Obi-Wan

    Source: Redditor u/Chamale

Details: You have to wonder what Anakin Skywalker wanted to say to his former master should he ever have the chance to run into him again. Think about it; in their last 'meeting,' Anakin was severely injured and burned. All he could muster was, "I hate you," so he had to have been thinking of what to say for years in the same way we come up with a good comeback in the shower, only wishing we had said it earlier.

This theory suggests that he worked on the right thing to say for years, and he wasn't 100% ready to deliver them onboard the Death Star. Ultimately, he came up with the following, which makes it seem as if he wasn't perfectly committed to any of them:

"I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan.

    We meet again at last.

    The circle is now complete.

When I left you I was but the learner, now I am the master!"

  • The Reason All The Corny Darth Vader Lines Are In Fact Befitting To His Character on Random Darth Vader Fan Theories That Actually Make A Lot Of Sense

(#13) The Reason All The Corny Darth Vader Lines Are In Fact Befitting To His Character

    Source: Redditor u/Extract

Details: This theory is a bit corny, but it also makes sense in hindsight. Darth Vader says a lot of corny one-liners throughout the series, and while most are threatening, they are also a bit silly considering who was actually saying them. In Rogue One, he once quipped, "Be careful not to choke on your aspirations," as he was choking a guy.

The theory suggests that the reason Darth Vader drops these corny jokes has to do with his name, which is a trait of the Sith. Darth Tyranus was a tyrant, Darth Maul was a violent aggressor, and Darth Sidious was insidious, so what about Darth Vader? Well, "Vader" in German is "father," so what we have here is a man dropping corny dad jokes.

  • Why Obi-wan Told Darth Vader He Would Become More Powerful In Death on Random Darth Vader Fan Theories That Actually Make A Lot Of Sense

(#14) Why Obi-wan Told Darth Vader He Would Become More Powerful In Death

    Source: Redditor u/ajburt1998

Details: This theory suggests that the reason Obi-Wan warned Vader of his increase in power after death could have been done for two reasons. When they fought, Obi-Wan said, "You can't win Darth, if you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine." Why would he tell him that?

It's basically showing his hand to his enemy, but the reason may have been twofold. He could have been telling him that to appeal to Vader's ego, hoping to convert him back to the Force, leaving the Dark Side behind.

The other reason he may have told him about it could have been to trick Vader into taking the plunge himself, so that he could attain more power, but no longer be able to continue his tirade of death and destruction across the galaxy.

  • The Darth Of Monte Vader - Anakin Plotted His Revenge From The Beginning on Random Darth Vader Fan Theories That Actually Make A Lot Of Sense

(#15) The Darth Of Monte Vader - Anakin Plotted His Revenge From The Beginning

    Source: Redditor u/ScottTheAmazing

Details: Anakin's journey through the Light Side of the Force to the Dark was tumultuous, to say the least. When he was put back together and reformed as Darth Vader, he may have been plotting his revenge from that very moment.

This theory suggests that upon learning of Padme's death, he immediately began plotting to take out the Emperor, whom he blamed for Padme's death despite appearing to do otherwise.

His plan was to take from the Emperor that which he held so dear: his legacy. Padme was all Anakin cared for, so he knew that the only way to get back at his new Master was to do the same to him.

All of his plans, actions, and schemes he carried out over the subsequent 17 years were made in the attempt to fulfill his goal of destroying the Emperor. This means he was just putting up an act when he slaughtered the Jedi -- it was all part of the plan. The theory is long and complex, so your best bet is to check out all the details on Reddit.
