  (#1) Officer Barbrady Has Never Really Been A Cop

  According to this theory, Officer Barbrady is only the town idiot pretending to be a police officer and the residents play along because they feel bad for him. There's quite a bit of evidence to support this, including the facts that there are other "real" police that people go to when something really bad actually happens, no one takes him seriously, and there are several instances were prisoners have just walked out of his jail.

  (#2) Cartman Is Deeply Self-Loathing

  For this theory to be true, Cartman has to be far more intelligent and self-aware than he gets credit for. It says that the reason for his outlandish behavior, especially towards Jews and Kyle, is that he's lashing out against the one person who constantly reminds him of who really is: an insecure kid who is uncomfortable with himself. Kyle is relentlessly and brutally truthful with Cartman, but rather become a better person, Cartman externalizes his self-loathing, resulting in hate for anyone different from himself, whether they're Jewish people or gingers.

  (#3) Kenny, Stan, and Kyle Are Still Friends with Cartman Because He's Right So Often

  One of the greatest mysteries of South Park is why anyone is still friends with Cartman. He's proven time and time again that he's calculating, bigoted, and downright vindictive, especially when it comes to Kyle. This theory explains that while he is all of those things, he's so often correct that he's worth keeping around. He may just destroy a life or two, but he's been known to be right about a great deal of major things that no one else believed, until he proved them wrong of course.

  (#4) Caitlyn Jenner Is Old News Thanks To Mr. Garrison

  South Park isn't generally the most tolerant place, so it's striking that the whole town was eager to embrace Caitlyn Jenner. How is it that Kyle is the sole person in this "podunk mountain town" who rejects the praise for the transgender Jenner? Because in South Park, Mr. Garrison paved the way a decade before, transitioning to female before ultimately transitioning back.

  (#5) South Park Is Just the World the Kids See

  For most kids, the world is a strange and mysterious place. Add in a few highly active imaginations and it's possible that all of what happens in the town South Park is real, except it's being told from the kids' exaggerated point of view. Kenny dying, for instance, might just be their overreactions to him being clumsy and getting hurt frequently.

  (#6) Kenny Is the Reason No One Ages in South Park

  Basically, the idea behind this theory is that Kenny isn't immortal, but he does have a unique ability to regenerate. It states that time then warps around him in a supernatural way and the whole town of South Park has somehow gotten wrapped up in his regenerative time warping phenomenon. Of course, the boys did once age up to fourth grade, but they've been stuck there ever since.

  (#7) Kenny's Family Is so Poor Because of All His Funerals

  For Kenny's family, it's tough to say which is harder, to have a son that routinely dies or to have to pay those funeral expenses time and time again. According to this theory, that's why Kenny's family is so poor. They've had to pay for dozens of funerals for their son, only to have him come back to life and die again each time.

  (#8) Cartman Is Deeply in Love with Kyle

  Ever wonder why Cartman has so much hate built up inside him? According to this theory his hatred is really just a manifestation of his romantic love for Kyle. Cartman constantly berates Kyle and his Jewish heritage not because he dislikes him, but because he's in denial and is just a kid who doesn't know how to deal with his feelings properly.

  (#9) Kenny, Cartman, Kyle, And Stan Represent The Four Horsemen

  In this theory, Cartman represents Conquest and Kenny represents Death, they're the two obvious ones. Then Kyle is War being he is so often the one fighting with Cartman and the world at large. Stan is Famine because without him, the rest of the group would be starved. This one is a bit more of a stretch but Stan is often the leader, protagonist, and voice of reason, so it kind of works.

  (#10) South Park Is Purgatory for Dead Morons

  According to this theory, all of South Park is, in fact, purgatory for idiots. All of the adults have ended up in the ethereal plane of South Park after death because of their overwhelming idiocy while all of the kids are essentially angels in training, trying to learn about humanity by interacting with the most imbecilic members of the species. Not to mention the fact that Jesus and Satan (the only ones who would really care about these morons) just stop by all the time to check in on things regularly.

  (#11) The Show Is All Butters's Recollection

  The whole show is actually just an adult Butters telling his therapist about his childhood, according to this theory. For the events that Butters wasn't actually present for, he's just relaying what the other kids told him at the time. Some of the stuff that happens in the show is so extreme because it's based on the storytelling of kids, where anything is possible.

  (#12) Continuity Depends on Kenny Staying Alive

  This theory essentially states that as long as Kenny is a live, basic continuity is achievable. The concept has quite a few flaws but the evidence that supports it is that most of the time when there is continuity in the show, it is during a time when Kenny hasn't died (or he's died and stayed dead, as when Cartman built a Shakey's Pizza out of stem cells rather than saving his ailing friend). Just because Kenny hasn't died doesn't mean there has to be continuity, however.

  (#13) South Park Is in the Middle of a Supernatural Experiment

  The events that happen in South Park are far from ordinary and if this theory is to be belived, there's a very good reason for that. The town is actually stuck in the middle of some sort of supernatural experiment conducted by powerful Illuminati-types attempting to master dark powers. Among other side effects, the experiment has given certain characters regenerative abilities and has trapped the town in a timeless flux.

  (#14) Randy and Sharon are Half-Siblings

  Stan's parents being half siblings might sound like a pretty crazy fan theory but there is a little bit of evidence to back this up. Originally, Jimbo was supposed to be Sharon's brother, not Randy's half-brother. What's more, they've both referred to Stan's grandpa Marvin as their actual father. The rest of the theory is a little shaky, especially since children in law frequently call their new parents "dad" or "mom."  But this just sounds like something South Park might do.

  (#15) South Park Takes Place in the Same Universe as Peanuts

  South Park and Peanuts are about as different as to animated properties can be, at least on the surface. On closer inspection, though, there are some similarities. In both shows, kids tend to have subpar relationships with the adults and both groups of kids can be pretty cruel in their own ways. It's possible that they're happening in the same world, just decades apart, with South Park naturally being cruder and more boundary-pushing to reflect the cultural change over those years.
