(#1) Patrik Rybar - Detroit Red Wings
There's not a whole lot you can do in Big D. You have two basic colors, and your logo hasn't changed significantly since the 1930s. But rookie prospect Rybar had put together a simple but classic tribute to the city of Detroit.
-
(#2) Louis Domingue - Tampa Bay Lightning
There's no better way to get into your fans' good graces than by paying tribute to your teams' past greats. Recent Lightning member Domingue is hoping to bring a little of the 2004 Cup magic to the 2018-2019 team, with Tampa legends Martin St. Louis and Vinny Lecavalier on his head.
-
(#3) Craig Anderson - Ottawa Senators
The Sens' veteran keeper enters what is sure to be a challenging 2018-2019 with a somber mask that pays tribute to the teams' former General Manager, Bryan Murray, who passed away last year.
-
(#4) Pekka Rinne - Nashville Predators
"I am Iron Pred." Pekka hasn't shied away from movie-themed masks in the past - he famously had one modeled after Mad Max: Fury Road's Immorten Joe - and this year he's giving Tony Stark's armor a blue and gold makeover.
-
(#5) Oscar Dansk - Vegas Golden Knights
Getting to play in Las Vegas provides ample inspiration if you want to cut loose and have some fun with you mask design, but Dansk went another route. His mask is adorned with 58 tiny Golden Knights logos, to honor the 58 victims of last year's horrific concert shooting.

(#6) Connor Hellebuyck - Winnipeg Jets
New season, new lid... who's able to spot Big Buff with a fishing line in hand?
— Winnipeg Jets (@NHLJets) September 14, 2018
Check out Hellebuyck's new helmet going into the 2018-19 season, painted by @Eyecandyair! pic.twitter.com/AxLOFI1OKlBack in 2011, Winnipeg Jets' defenseman Dustin Byfuglien was arrested and charged with "boating while intoxicated." Leave it to your teammates to never let you live something like that down. Hellebuyk's new bucket features a smiling Byfuglien ice fishing (no sign of the cops, though).
-
(#7) Roberto Luongo - Florida Panthers
When you've been around as long as perpetual All-Star Roberto (19 seasons and counting), you don't have to scream for attention. That's why his simple white and gold design for 2018-2019 is so cool. Note the subtle Panthers' eyes on the side.

(#8) Antoine Bibeau - San Jose Sharks
Sharks goalie prospect gives mask the 'Jaws' treatment https://t.co/QsxaSPIBLs via @NHL
— sylvie poitras (@zonorange) August 17, 2018The San Jose Sharks have existed since 1991, and this is the first time Quint and Chief Brody have adorned a mask? That's a crying shame. Every San Jose mask should be a "Jaws" mask.
-
(#9) Jake Allen - St. Louis Blues
St. Louis' #1 netminder channels the Fantastic Four's The Thing with his new mask. Every goalie wants to be a brick wall, so maybe this will inspire Allen and the perennially good but perennially "also ran" Blues.
-
(#10) Tuukka Rask
- Goaltender
While leading his team to the Stanley Cup Finals, goalie Tuukka Rask rocked this awesome (and intimidating) bear-themed mask from Slater Lettering and Graphics. The sharp teeth and claws going around the top are a warning to any opponent looking to score and the name "Tuukka" reminds everyone who they should fear.
-
(#11) Keith Kinkaid - New Jersey Devils
Kudos to the Devils' goalie for conjuring up memories of NES Ice Hockey with this pixelated take on his team's logo.
-
(#12) Anton Khudobin - Dallas Stars
Not that anyone needs a reason to have a Harry Potter character on their mask, but it just so happens that newly-minted Star Khudobin's nickname is "Dobby," just like the loyal house elf from the Potter books.
-
(#13) Alex Lyons - Philadelphia Flyers
Goalies are traditionally viewed as the team's resident weirdos. The Flyers' Lyons does little to dispel that stereotype with unsettling horror-themed masks every year. He's had Pennywise from "It" and even zombified founding fathers. This year, he pays tribute to the Bruce Willis/Haley Joel Osment classic "The Sixth Sense."
