  • He Starred In Ed Sheeran's 'Lego House' Music Video on Random Things You Probably Didn't Know About Rupert Grint

(#7) He Starred In Ed Sheeran's 'Lego House' Music Video

It's not true that all gingers look alike, but you'd be lying to yourself if you said Ed Sheeran and Rupert Grint didn't look like one another. In fact, the two celebrities have often poked fun at one another for this very fact. Because of their similar appearance, Grint was cast in the music video of Sheeran's 2011 song "Lego House."

In the video, Grint is initially portrayed as Sheeran. He goes about his usual business of writing down song lyrics, hanging out on his tour bus, and eventually taking the stage in front of a crowd. Of course, it's Grint on the stage, not Sheeran, so security tackles him, and the narrative changes to reveal that Grint was stalking Sheeran.

You can watch the music video for "Lego House" here.

  • He Appeared In An Absolute Box Office Flop In 2012 on Random Things You Probably Didn't Know About Rupert Grint

(#10) He Appeared In An Absolute Box Office Flop In 2012

You may have noticed that Rupert Grint's name hasn't appeared in many movie theater marquees since he hung up his "Ron Weasley" robes, but the actor has continued to work. That said, he hasn't been in anything that comes anywhere close to the level of attention the Harry Potter films received.

Most of his work has been on the small screen, and he's appeared in several series over the past few years, including Servant, The ABC Murders, Snatch, and Sick Note. When the last Harry Potter film was finished, he did appear in a feature film, but likely, you've never heard of it or seen it.

In 2012, Grint played Gunner Robert Smith in Into the White, a WWII action-drama about a group of British and German soldiers who take shelter in the same cabin in Norway. The movie rates favorably on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, but it was a box office flop when it was released.

When Into the White was released in the United States, it only managed to appear in a single theater, which only showed it for a whopping two weeks. Because of the insanely small number of screens (one), it only made $704 at the box office.

  • He Appeared In A Somewhat Unorthodox Kids' Movie In 2002 on Random Things You Probably Didn't Know About Rupert Grint

(#11) He Appeared In A Somewhat Unorthodox Kids' Movie In 2002

In 2001, the world was introduced to Rupert Grint when he took on the role of Ron Weasley in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The following year, he appeared in the sequel, but that wasn't the only movie Grint was in that year. In 2002, he played Alan A. Allen in the somewhat unorthodox kids' movie, Thunderpants.

If you haven't seen it, you need to stop what you're doing (after reading through this, of course) and watch the movie. A kid named Patrick Smash is born with two stomachs, which makes him extremely flatulent. By the time he's ten, he can literally knock people over with his gassy toots. His only friend is Alan (Grint), who has anosmia, which is an inability to smell. Eventually, Smash fulfills his dream of becoming an astronaut, and you can guess how he uses his "talent" to get around in space.

Is Thunderpants a good movie? Not really, but it's funny - if you like fart humor. It's also fun to see a young Rupert Grint playing Alan A. Allen, which he does to perfection in this nutty, yet hilarious children's film.

  • He Wasn't Allowed Within Five Meters Of Alan Rickman's Car on Random Things You Probably Didn't Know About Rupert Grint

(#2) He Wasn't Allowed Within Five Meters Of Alan Rickman's Car

Ron Weasley and Professor Severus Snape didn't exactly get along while the young man attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry. The actors' on-screen chemistry, or rather, lack of chemistry, may lead some to assume there was no love lost between the actors. It's easy to come to that conclusion because Alan Rickman and Rupert Grint are such good actors, and they got along splendidly when the cameras weren't rolling.

That said, one incident came during the filming of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire that drove a wedge between the two actors. More specifically, it drove a wedge between Grint and Rickman's car. During filming, Grint and fellow actor Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) were in one of Rickman's older cars.

A milkshake was spilled, and Rickman was displeased. During the filming of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Rickman got a brand new BMW, which he forbade Grint and Lewis from entering. In fact, they weren't allowed to get within five meters (about 16.5 feet) of the car!

  • He Channeled Ron Perfectly And Didn't Do His Homework on Random Things You Probably Didn't Know About Rupert Grint

(#6) He Channeled Ron Perfectly And Didn't Do His Homework

When Alfonso Cuarón joined the franchise to direct Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, he wanted to ensure his young stars properly understood their roles, so he gave Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint an assignment to write an essay on their characters. The young actors ended up channeling their characters into how they completed their assignments.

Radcliffe turned in a single page about his character while Watson turned in a 16-page paper on Hermione Granger, and that's exactly what you'd expect from Harry and Hermione. Grint channeled Ron by completely blowing off the assignment. It wasn't just to play off being Ron, as he actually did have a couple of good reasons.

Grint was studying for his General Certificate of Secondary Education exams, and that took precedence over his "Ron" homework. Also, as the actor noted, "It’s quite Ron-ish not to do it. I think [Cuarón] kind of appreciated that.”

  • He Sent In An Audition Tape Of Himself Rapping And Won The Part Of Ron Weasley on Random Things You Probably Didn't Know About Rupert Grint

(#1) He Sent In An Audition Tape Of Himself Rapping And Won The Part Of Ron Weasley

When casting began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, children from all over the United Kingdom came, looking to find a role in the film. Much of the casting was done through open auditions, as the production was interested in finding unknowns for the principal roles. Ron Weasley was one such role, and when the casting call went out, Rupert Grint answered.

Grint loved the book and the character, and he thought he was a shoo-in "because [he has] ginger hair." He hadn't done any professional acting at this point, but he had appeared in several school plays. For whatever reason, he thought it best to rap in his video. He composed a rap explaining why he was the best person to play Ronald Weasley, and not only did it work, but he proved he was right!
