Around the fifth season, Strong wanted to go to college. Fortunately, he and show-runner Michael Jacobs worked out a schedule so Strong could both attend college and continue on the show. Strong graduated from Columbia University with a degree in English and also received his MFA from Bennington College.

In "I Am Not a Crook" (season 2), Cory and Shawn run for class president. Or at least they do at first. They both end up dropping out, leaving Topanga to run unopposed, and win. For her efforts, she was rewarded with an executive producer credit for the episode.

The season five episode that ended up being a cast favorite was "And Then There Was Shawn," which was inspired by '90s horror films. Jennifer Love Hewitt guest-starred and the cast reportedly could barely get through the scenes because they were laughing so hard.

They reached the point with Cory and Shawn that they could read each other so well and learn lines so quickly that they felt incapable of making mistakes. Said Strong, "As actors, Ben and I really clicked, and it's that kind of connection that you so rarely find with an actor, with somebody else, this preternatural connection."

In "Kid Gloves," Cory is scuba diving in the school pool and surfaces to see Mr. Feeny looking down on him. The scene, shot from Cory's point of view, is an homage to classic scene in The Graduate. William Daniels played Dustin Hoffman's father in the film.

Rider Strong and Will Friedle are allegedly best friends to this day. Their friendship and chemistry was almost too strong, and their scenes together were limited. Why? They just couldn't stop laughing when trying to say their lines.

In season one, Amy Matthews switched from being a career woman to a stay-at-home mom. Then, in season five, she joins Eric's writing class, apparently blocking out her former time as a working girl (Melanie Griffith-style), claiming that she was only ever a wife and mother.

Though she is mentioned in an early episode, when Shawn says she once helped straighten Cory's hair, Strong later explained that the line was given to Shawn in a rewrite, after the actor they originally belonged to (one of the kids they tried to make work as a second best friend of Cory), was fired. -

Ethan Suplee, Adam Scott, Brittany Murphy, and Jennifer Love Hewitt all had roles on Boy Meets World.
